You ever consider that you like tough love because you’re used to it. You were conditioned to receive love and criticism in that way. So it works for you because that’s all you know. You’ve learned how to operate with it. But I’m sure you’ll find that if someone came to you with pure love and understanding to help, it’s work for you too. And you’d probably find that you prefer being treated that way. It’s nicer.

You’re always going to be young in someone’s eyes and old in someone else’s, talented to one and terrible to the next. The worlds never going to agree on a definition of what you are so you might as well ignore that shit and be whatever the fuck you wanna be for yourself.

Something my psychiatrist shared with me: He's an old dude and he's wise and stuff and one time he was like "did you read harry potter?" And i was like what do i look like a damned fool? "yes" and he was like "treat intrusive thoughts like bogarts. think of something happy. Think of something beautiful. Look that thought right in the eye and scream 'RIDICULOUS!' give it no power. show it no fear. And it'll go away just like a bogart." And it works. It really works. U can even think of it as magic.
