Did Dobson sent a cease & desist to knowyourmeme?
He did. I’m not entirely sure what it was that made him send one, but I assume it was probably some irl pictures of himself that were posted there or something. For as long as Dobson was online, there’s only a small handful of images of pictures of him to be found, and he never seemed to like when people brought up what he looked like.

….damn, you stop paying attention to an internet weirdo for a while, only to find out that they just continued to hunger worse and worse.
Not too surprising, other than the ways Lily has gotten worse, but…damn.
shortlist: Lily made a bunch of incest stories, Courtney is telling their story a bunch, people made exposes on Lily but there is Lily anti in fighting, Mikaila lives in a hoarder hut cause of her dad and Lily posted pictures to show how good a wife she is while also oversharing about a very real issue Mikaila suffers from, Lily keeps telling on herself, I think there was a post about her exes where she said Britt was her ex but she obviously isnt and I think she confirms that whatever happened with Carousel was her fault, Lily has some new dark family secret she uses for pity, Sai is an SU artist talking shit about her now, etc.
That's a damn long list.
I guess Lily has finally decided to be honest about her love of incest. She was always trying to shoehorn that in with TSR. I guess she gave up pretending she didn't like it.
Why would Lily share Mikaila's living situation? That's a really private matter. Did Mikaila approve of this?
So Lily never respected Britt as a friend and did try to be romantic with her. Gross.
How did she confirm that the Carousel situation was her fault? Really curious about that one.
I think I saw Sai on YouTube, they're a lot of fun!

Did Dobson ever replied to the backlash for the Power Girl cosplayer comic?
He did, and claimed that it wasn’t him, but then he decided to lie about what people were saying about the picture/comic in typical Dobson fashion, because of course.

Are there any of Dobson's art pieces that you personally find decent?
I think a lot of his college work has some personality to it, but I feel like that has more to do with having his teachers essentially being over his shoulders telling him what to work on and correct. It’s also back when he still had some love for drawing and wasn’t quite as bitter about everything as he would soon be.
There was also a couple of Samus arts he did that I thought was leagues about what he was drawing near the end, but that my be because he was drawing her in the suit and not a person of some kind.

That’s not to say they’re perfect or anything like that, but I do find them more appealing than Dobson’s usual output around that time.

I've been on the internet for a long time and I noticed that a lot of white saviors who label themselves as "allies" end up being just as racist as their rightwing counterpart. Not a whole lot but still too many imo. Dobson sounds like that type to brag about how he supports BLM but will talk shit about Asian or Hispanic people. Were there instances where Dobson outed himself as a racist?
I’ve seen people make that argument regarding how he depicted his former college roommate.
And you could probably argue it for his weird hateboner for Hideo Kojima…
(Go to this section:)
Tumblr media
And of course, there’s the infamous “we as a nation need to take Japan to sensitivity training because radon internet rumor that wasn’t even true”(read bottom to top)
Tumblr media
Actually, come to think of it, Dobson has said a lot of semi-racist stuff about Japanese media….

Well you have missed a LOT. And I’m actually kind of envious that you don’t know some of the stuff he’s done since. Cursed knowledge and all.

I just got into the Dobson Rabbit Hole. One thing that I was always intrigued about was him writing that infamous comic about the Power Girl cosplayer only to get called out on it. I read on forums that Dobson or his followers at least harassed the cosplayer after he was called out. Did they really drive the poor girl out of the internet despite Dobson being the one who effed up?
That I can neither confirm nor deny. I know people contacted the girl on the picture and she confirmed that the picture was consensual and the comic was creepy. I was told she took down her social media due to harassment afterwards, so I don’t know how much connection is between that and Dobson’s yelling about how it wasn’t him in the picture when that particular tweet went viral.
I think most people just aren’t willing to give Dobson the benefit of the doubt. For obvious reasons.

Now it's happy April Fool's Day! A holiday I know Dobson hates because he doesn't like fun, as we all know. Tell us the story!
Tumblr media
Let’s see, see let’s see…it’s definitely been a while…

Ah, here we go!

Alright, gather round, children. It’s time once again to hear about the time Dobson get randomly angry about a stock email Deviantart sent out one year for an April Fools Day event…

Happy Easter! Let me guess, this is another holiday Dobson also hates because reasons.
Happy Easter!
I’m not sure if Dobson ever had much to say about Easter specifically. Closest I can think of is he used to have an avatar pic of his blue bear wearing bunny ears that he’d use around the holiday, but that’s about it.

That thing about "owning it" if you did/drew something stupid? Honestly, I have to agree. I will freely admit to following weight gain/inflation artists, but I give most of them a "pass" because, unlike Dobson, they meme on each other (and themselves) a lot and I can respect that (that and the fact that the few times they draw non-inflation stuff, most of them seem to have an at least half-decent grasp of anatomy and backgrounds.) I'm willing to bet if Dobson owned up to his CattyN stuff (and wasn't such an obnoxious example of a "good male feminist") he'd be getting clowned on way less.
Me personally, I feel like if I were to draw that stuff and it came back to "haunt me" I'd be less "OH GODDAMMIT NOW EVERYONE KNOWS!" and more "Ah, you rascal, you got me, the jig is up!"
That’s a good way of handling it, yeah. As you said, Dobson was obsessed with being seen as a “good one” in the eyes of people he was constantly trying to pander to. Add in the massive ego he had, and it was just a recipe for disaster.

I think another big point you didn't touch on about why Dobson drawing that art was so bad was because he also made a fake identity for that account as a high school girl and essentially RP'd as one trying to maintain the ruse.
Which is honestly weirder and more cringe than drawing the inflation art in the first place.
That was also a factor, yes, but I was mainly referring to Dobson’s behavior well after the fact in that Ask.
Still, it is a rather important thing to note about him.

Someone made an ask about how Dobson made a comic of Jasper from SU yelling at a puny flower
Do you have it at all? I’ve never seen it but I desperately wanna see it XD
I do, actually. Or rather, I knew where to get it.

Thank you still being here and answering asks. That last one about owning your past made something 'click' in my brain in a good way and I suddenly feel a lot less intimidated myself despite not being that anon.
You’re welcome. And I’m glad I could help a little, even if this blog probably isn’t as entertaining/informative as it used to be. It’s nice to know my advice can make a difference to someone.

I know Dobson partly got caught for making inflation art and all. While I’ve never done that sort of thing (ew), it only heightened my fears of ever making webcomics or any material myself, even under a pen name. What good is it if my past of being stupid gets discovered?
Honestly?
Own it.
If it’s something kind of embarrassing that you did in the past, just admit it’s you. You might get a bit of teasing, but for the most part people will appreciate the honesty.
If it’s stuff you did in the past that you don’t necessarily agree with anymore, also own it. Just say it was something you used to do but have moved on from. Again, it’s better to just be honest about it rather than try and hide it or lie.
Obviously you don’t have to bring it up if no one else does, but all lying or pretending not to know about it will just make people think you’re hiding things or it’s something they can bring up to easily get a rise out of you.
Everyone has done stupid or embarrassing shit in the past. But it’s the past. There’s no reason it should control your present or future. People who enjoy your stuff won’t hold it against you, and anyone who does try and use it against you were never gonna be fans of your work anyway, and can therefore be ignored. Criticism is important, but it’s just as important to know who’s giving it and why.
Dobson’s problem was lying about easily proven facts and then doubling down hard or pitching a fit when someone brought it up to troll him.
It also helps to not be a Dobson and keep your ego in check, but the fact you’re asking for advice makes me confident you won’t have to worry about that much, Anon.
Good luck with your future endeavors!

Do you have a link or archive of the dnd comic dobson made, in a almost extremely obviously desperate attempt to get the people who ran/played the games story that he put into a comic, to hire him to make illustrated version of their dnd game. Follow up question, did that person ever actually react or respond to that comic dobson made??
Dobson actually has a Masterpost to all the comics he did for it here(you will need both a tumblr account and not to have been blocked by Dobson, though):
As for if the McElroy Brothers ever noticed the comic, I think one of them retweeted the first comic at one point, but that’s about it.

I’m rereading Dobson arguing with someone about She-Ra and...it’s fuckin rich hearing him say “you don’t know anything about the animation industry” while he made a comic showing he thinks Steven Universe Future was planned from the start. It wasn’t. It was ordered after the movie was green lit cuz some Cartoon Network brain trust was like “you can’t have a movie without a cartoon following said movie!” and Rebecca Sugar probably wanted to stab an executive in the face after that. So yeah...can that be counted as like a smaller example of his hypocrisy?
Oh yeah…that comic.
I actually did a full breakdown of Dobson’s mindset because of that comic.
Because the real reason he made that comic was essentially to complain about criticism again. “There’s no point in telling me what I did wrong, because the art is done and I’m never going back to it.” is an argument Dobson uses a lot. And yes, it’s a massive hypocrisy.
You can read my breakdown of the comic as well as Dobson’s angry ranting when people pointed out what was wrong with the comic, in the link below.

Given that it’s election year once again, I just want to share this post again for anyone that might need to hear it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dobson argues with someone insisting that they vote nothing but Democrat no matter how they feel, because he believes anything is better than having any Republicans in office no matter what. The person continues to point out how sick they are of hearing Democrats say “it’s important to vote for our side so we can take steps to where you can vote for the people you actually want!” and Dobson suddenly changes the argument to “we need a Democrat as president so we can have a Democrat-ruled Senate! They’re the true enemy! A vote for my side means we can make the entire government one political side, just like I-I mean, you want!”
. . .
Okay look, I typically try to avoid posting political stuff aside from when Dobson gives his usual warped take. It’s why I have a tag “dumb political stuff”. But with the Presidental Election coming up this year, things online are going to get more and more heated as lines start to be drawing and accusations and insults are thrown. So this is probably the one time I’m going to give a political opinion or offer advice in regards to it:
If you don’t like a candidate and don’t feel they represent you, then don’t vote for them. People from any political side will say “well you should still vote for use because their side is worse” or “if you don’t vote for one of the two parties, you’re letting the other side win!”, but if you honestly feel that you should vote third party or something else, than do it. Don’t be bullied or shamed into voting for someone you don’t support because “it’s the lesser of two evils”, because people that tell you that sort of thing aren’t actually caring about if you feel properly represented or not, they just want their “side” to win.
I’ll be even more honest: I didn’t vote in 2016. I felt that both candidates weren’t good choices for President, so I decided to support neither. And there are people out there who would be mad or upset that I did so, but it was my decision to make and what I felt was best for me to do so. And I don’t regret it.
You should vote for whoever you feel best represents you, be it Republican, Democrat, Independant, whoever. Because voting is all about expressing your own personal beliefs and opinions, not someone else’s who told you to to compromise. Hell, early Simpsons had a whole Halloween bit dedicated to this.
youtube
People were so dedicated to party lines, they willing screwed themselves over because “Republican/Democrat tho”.
Vote for who you believe best represents you, not who you’re told is the best compromise because “the other guy is worse than ours.”
