J-Hope to connect with dancers around the world to rediscover dancing [The Korea Herald]
Tumblr media
J-Hope released the main trailer of his upcoming documentary series, “Hope on the Street,” on Thursday.
The six-episode documentary series shows J-Hope visiting Osaka, Paris, New York and his hometown of Gwangju in Korea to connect and dance with street dancers on the scene.
“It all started with dancing. I am curious to look back at what genres of dance I used to work with and also to look back on my roots. I want to find an answer to what the future I dream of is,” said J-Hope in the trailer.
J-Hope met with dancers of diverse street dance genres including popping, house, hip-hop and locking, to communicate with them through dancing and to learn from them.
“It makes my heart beat. It all feels really new. This is not just dance but its life for some people. I’m in the process of learning,” said J-Hope.
The documentary series was created by J-Hope before he began his mandatory military service in April last year.
The first episode of the documentary will be released on March 28 on local streaming platform Tving and Prime Video for overseas viewers.
J-Hope is also set to release a special album, “Hope on the Street Vol. 1,” on March 29.

BTS’ J-Hope Embarks on a Global and Personal Exploration of Dance in ‘Hope on the Street’ Trailer [Rolling Stone]
Tumblr media
Six-part docuseries — and accompanying album — will arrive later this month
BTS’ J-Hope dances his way around the world in the new trailer for his upcoming docuseries, Hope on the Street, premiering March 27 on Prime Video. The series will be accompanied by a special album, Hope on the Street Vol. 1, arriving March 29.
The six-part series will follow J-Hope as he meets with different street dancers in cities around the world and learns about their respective styles. The trailer teases popping in Osaka, Japan, locking in Seoul, house in Paris, hip-hop in New York, and neuron in Gwangju, South Korea.
At the same time, Hope on the Street — which is spun off from J-Hope’s long-running digital video series of the same name — promises to be a personal exploration. As J-Hope puts it in the opening moments of the trailer: “I started with dance, and that dancing led to many other things. I’m curious about it. What kind of dancing did I do, and what are my roots? What is the future that I’m dreaming of?”
youtube
As for the accompanying album, Hope on the Street Vol. 1 will feature six songs, each of which will be closely linked to the episodes in the series. Except for the opening track, “On the Street,” each song will be a collaboration, with guests including J-Hope’s BTS bandmate Jung Kook, Benny Blanco, Nile Rodgers, Le Sserafim’s Huh Yun-Jin, JINBO the Superfreak, and Gaeko and Yoon Mirae.
Hope on the Street (both the show and album) comes as J-Hope continues to complete his mandatory military service in South Korea. He enlisted last April and offered fans an update in October, writing: “Although I am working hard and adapting faster than I expected, I feel a lot of pressure… because my role is to lead and help young Koreans take their first steps in the military organization.”

J-Hope Shares ‘Hope on the Street Vol. 1’ Tracklist Featuring Jung Kook, Nile Rodgers, Huh Yun-jin [Rolling Stone]
Tumblr media
The record arrives on March 29 with additional appearances from Benny Blanco, JINBO the SuperFreak, and Gaeko with Yoon Mirae
J-Hope‘s special album, Hope on the Street Vol. 1, features an all-star cast of guest appearances. The musician has shared the official tracklist for the record, out March 29, revealing collaborations with his fellow BTS bandmate Jung Kook, Benny Blanco with Nile Rodgers, Gaeko with Yoon Mirae, Le Sserafim vocalist Huh Yun-Jin, and JINBO the Superfreak.
Hope on the Street Vol. 1 will be released alongside a six-part docuseries titled Hope on the Street, set to premiere on March 27 via Prime Video. According to a press release, the album explores J-Hope’s creative roots as a street dancer. Prior to making his debut with BTS, the musician was a member of the underground dance crew Neuron. His collaboration with Gaeko and Yoon Mirae, “Neuron,” pays homage to that time in his life.
The collaborative nature of the album’s tracklist is reflective of the project’s origins. In the forthcoming series, J-Hope will be seen exploring several cities — including Osaka, Paris, New York, Seoul, and Gwangju — and drawing inspiration from street dancers in these international spaces.
“On the Street” is the only song on Hope on the Street Vol. 1 on which J-Hope performs on his own. It’s a solo version of the J. Cole collaboration he released around this time last year.
“The key motif of the track comes from the word ‘street,’ which can be interpreted as a place where many people’s everyday lives pass by—a metaphor for life,” HYBE shared in a statement at the time. “It comes from ‘street dance,’ the genre that represents J-Hope’s roots as an artist, and it also symbolizes the path that he will continue to take with his fans around the world.”
Hope on the Street Vol. 1 Tracklist
“On the Street” (Solo Verison)
“I Wonder…” (With BTS’ Jung Kook)
“Lock / Unlock” (With Benny Blanco and Nile Rodgers)
“I Don’t Know” (With Le Sserafim’s Huh Yun-Jin)
“What If…” (Dance Mix With JINBO the Superfreak)

BTS’ J-Hope Announces A New Collaboration With His Bandmate Jung Kook [Forbes]
Tumblr media
Both J-Hope and Jung Kook, two of the members of the globally-adored boy band BTS, are enlisted in the South Korean military at the moment, as all men in that nation must do by a certain age. Thankfully, that isn’t stopping them from putting out new music—even together!
The two superstars have a new collaboration coming, and fans won’t have to wait too long to hear it. Jung Kook will join J-Hope on a song titled “I Wonder,” according to the tracklist for the latter musician’s forthcoming album, which was shared with the media by representatives for the musician. The duet will surely be a favorite among fans of both artists, as well as the band that made them famous.
Just a short time ago, J-Hope officially announced a new album and TV series. The short musical set is named Hope on the Street Vol. 1, and it accompanies the docuseries, which sees the musician traveling the world to rediscover and explain his love of dance by meeting those in other nations who are involved in the artform. The musical project is slated to arrive on March 29.
Hope on the Street Vol. 1 doesn’t only feature Jung Kook, though. In fact, it is flush with collaborations with well-known stars, both in the K-pop field and outside of it.
In addition to Jung Kook, Hope on the Street Vol. 1 also sees J-Hope teaming up with Benny Blanco, Nile Rodgers, LE SSERAFIM’s Huh Yunjin, JINBO the SuperFreak, and Gaeko and Yoon Mirae. Every track on the six-song effort credits at least one other musician…except the title track.
Interestingly, “On the Street” is the only tune on the tracklist that has already been released, though not in the form that the title will appear on the upcoming album. J-Hope dropped a single called “On the Street” in 2023 with rapper J. Cole. It became a quick hit on several Billboard charts, particularly the hip-hop and rap-focused ones. J-Hope decided to mix it up and include the cut on his new
Hope on the Street Vol. 1 will mark J-Hope’s first new project in about a year and a half by the time it arrives. He last delivered something for fans in summer of 2022, when he unleashed Jack in the Box. That title ended up climbing into the top 10 on the Billboard 200, peaking at No. 6.
