hey,,, idk if there are any other self shippers with dermatilomania or trichotillomania but if there are,,

please remember that your f/o(s) love you and support you – and they are very understanding and won’t get mad at you if you pick or pull at your skin / hair. they’ll be patient with you and try and help you find a safer alternative.

platonic f/o(s) will start to carry fidget items around with them in case you start to pick / pull. they never make a big deal of any scars / balding (and if any one does, they’re the first to stand up and defend you)

familial f/o(s) will press bandaids and kisses on any open wounds. they will help you style your hair in whatever way makes you feel comfortable. they love you, so, so much, and they’ll never hesitate to remind you if you ever feel upset.

romantic f/o(s) are so, so, deeply in love with you. they are utterly and endlessly attracted to you – no matter how much or how little hair you have or many scars or wounds are on your body. they fell in love with you because you are you and you are a precious, wondrous person to them. they don’t want anyone else but you and they’ll move mountains to prove it so.

Pick a selfshipper, go into their inbox, and compliment them on something. Doesn't have to be big. Tell them what you like about their ship, their insert, their content, or just themselves. I guarantee you somebody is gonna appreciate it.

Many of us are dealing with a lot right now so it wouldn't hurt to say something nice and change someone's day.

please respect canon lgbt+ characters' orientations. i know it sucks to get a crush on a character when their orientation means they wouldn't be attracted to you but sometimes that's just how it is, and erasing their identity is hurtful and queerphobic.

A message to all selfshippers...

Honestly, I see a lot of posts in this community dedicated to calling out people who send anon hate. And I think that’s amazing; we’re finally cracking down on the people who can’t keep their mean words to themselves!

However, I think we also need to pay more attention to the selfshippers who were victimized by anon hate. We need to support these people, because they haven’t recieved enough support in my opinion.

People who recieved anon hate about their F/Os? Those messages are absolute garbage, your F/Os know it. They love you and adore you and would never hurt or insult you, let alone want to break up with you. They would absolutely NEVER say those things to you, I promise.

People who recieved death threats or messages about their F/Os wanting them dead? Your F/Os absolutely cherish both your life and your wonderful presence; they would NEVER want you to leave their world. They love you so unbelievably much, and it hurts them to know that people are saying such hurtful things.

The selfshippers who were impersonated by these horrible people? Your F/Os would NEVER believe that you’d send stuff like that, and neither do I! Your F/Os know you’re strong enough to outlast the hate and continue being yourself!

The people who are really affected by the anon hate they receive? Your F/Os think you are so valid, and so strong for being able to deal with those emotions you feel. They’re so, so proud of you.

The people who are able to brush the hate off? Your F/Os admire your confidence so, so much! They’re so glad that you’re able to shake it off; they’re very, very proud of you for being able to handle it.

Even the people who have never received anon hate, but are scared of it? Your F/Os know that your emotions are valid, yet they also know that they’re going to take care of you to the best of their ability because they love you.

No one in this community deserves any amount of mean anon messages. We all deserve the best, and those of us who have been hurt deserve to be supported and uplifted.
