the philippines needs your help!
hi friends i know i don’t post things like these very often but my country needs all the help it can get.
recently a super typhoon (international name: rai) devastated a whole region of the country and many provinces are left without electricity, food, & water. i’ve compiled a list of both local and international donation drives and i am humbly asking for any and all donations you can spare. a little goes a long way!
for reference $57 (or PHP 2850) can serve 50-100 people clean water for 5 years!
all details are under the cut!

Source | Translated from Bisaya to English: Our living conditions here right now are underreported. No electricity, no water. The line at the gas station is so long. There’s no more clean water being sold in groceries. ATMs are offline. Pls the best thing you can do is bring awareness. That’s it. It costs you nothing to repost this. So everyone knows our situation is so difficult here right now. We can’t communicate because the Internet has limited coverage and some people can’t charge their phones. Not everyone has the privilege of owning a generator. Thank you.

hello. i'm sorry this is the only way i know how to survive this month.
the philippines was affected by a Category 5 typhoon RAI on Dec 16 and my city is unfortunately one of the places to be devastated. We currently don't have water and electricity and are severely depleted with supplies. as a nurse who is living alone and is STILL required to work, any amount of donation will be appreciated: payp@l
Rest assured all donations will be shared with my colleagues who are also in need of help. thank you! :')

Masterpost of Info & Links (#OdettePH)

(Images of post-Odette Siargao from the Philippine Coast Guard page)
I will continually update this. If you are a survivor of Odette or in contact with people who are, please feel free to message me. You may talk to me in Bisaya. I will translate for you.
BLOG INFO: This is a blog dedicated to spreading information about VisMin (Visayas and Mindanao), two regions in the Philippines that are currently suffering from the aftermath of Super Typhoon Odette (known internationally as Super Typhoon Rai). Rai ravaged VisMin starting December 16, 2021. Rai also affected some parts of Luzon, but the worst damage was in VisMin.
WHO RUNS THIS? I am a young woman. I’m Bisaya, but currently do not live in Visayas, so I was not present for the typhoon itself. However, many of my family members are currently struggling due to Rai. I am fluent in Bisaya and will translate posts from survivors that I find, written in the language.
ADDITIONAL INFO: Bisaya is the native or second language of most people from VisMin, so they’ve been asking for help in Bisaya. The language barrier is one of the major reasons that their posts may not reach even local news outlets (the national language in the Philippines is Tagalog).
Apart from the language barrier, the poverty levels in Visayas mean that most victims of Rai have no electricity, drinkable water, food, clean clothes, phone data, or Internet right now. They’re having a tough time and they can hardly communicate. Please help them.
DONATION LINKS
NOTE: Please remember that a small amount in your country’s currency may be a big amount in the Philippines. For example, $1 is roughly ₱50 and £1 is roughly ₱66. A single small donation could mean everything for an #OdettePH survivor.

to all my filipino mutuals and supporters living in the philippines, i hope you're all safe and alright from the recent super typhoon. the aftermaths are terrible especially in certain places in visayas and mindanao. please prioritize your safety and recovery! 🇵🇭🙏
(ingat kayo diyan! amping jud mo pirme kay murag wasak kaayo tanan karon. hoping that we all get through this and that all of us at least get to spend christmas with electricity and water. typhoon odette/rai has ravaged so many cities—including mine—but i'm lucky to be one of those whose home wasn't severely damaged. our net was also restored yesterday, thankfully. but others weren't so fortunate. 😞)
please pray for the philippines and if you can, please support/donate to fundraisers that will help the victims of the typhoon. the situation is terrible and most provinces are currently in a state of calamity.
(edit: i'll attach photos from facebook—credits to their owners—showing the heartwrenching state of various cities right now. there's lack of media coverage about the real situation. almost everything has been wrecked, especially in central visayas and the eastern visayas-mindanao areas. people are struggling to find clean water and electricity may be gone for weeks. many don't have roofs over their heads now. lines to gasoline stations are kilometers long and as of the moment, stores are closed and if they are, due to lack of net connections, they're only accepting cash—which is hard since many currently can't withdraw their money because again, their networks have been cut. it's chaos here and personally, i'm still trying to get updates from friends/family in those areas.)

thank you, guys. your help would mean a lot to the victims and their families, especially so that they can spend the holidays at least with their basic necessities!
