Things fell into a normal routine. You kept your relationship secret by day, but by night you lay in each other's arms as you drift off to sleep in Ghost's quarters. At this point, you might as well move in. You continued your regular training, although he was now your boyfriend, Ghost was still your mentor. He remained serious and trained you hard. If anything, he trained you harder than before, wanting to prepare you for any situation in the field where he wasn't there.
Today you were alone in the gym, your boyfriend stood behind you at the squat rack as you approached your last reps.
"Atta girl"
"Deeper love... there you go, right there"
"Your doing so well"
His low, seductive voice made you blush, every brush of the fabric of his mask against yours made you shudder.
Does he know what he's doing to me? you thought
He took the bar off your shoulders and re-racked the weights for you after your last set.
"Those shorts look real nice on you," Ghost said with a smirk.
You looked down at your Nike pros, maybe a bit shorter than they should be, but who cares, the gym is always empty this time of day. You blushed at his comment and Ghost pulled you against him from behind before you could respond.
"Wore those on purpose hm?" He turned the two of you towards the mirror so you could watch him play with the waistband of the spandex.
"um.. I..." you stuttered out a response, feeling how hard he was behind you.
He smirked and leaned down towards your ear, "The next time you wear these, your going to remember the time I took them off, fucked you, then made you pull them back up with my cum still inside, and had you wear them under your uniform pants for the rest of the day." He says every word of this with no shame, just pure lust as he threw you over his shoulder and carried you to the locker room to put his plan to action.

No breaks for the 141. Of course, the day after the wedding, when all of you were hungover and tired, you would be sent on a mission. Not a particularly risky one thankfully, but important nonetheless. You couldn't let your pounding headache distract you from the briefing where you sat in this moment. You massaged your temples and glanced over at Ghost, who was paying close attention to Price's lecture. This morning, the two of you had only shared a knowing glance and a smile before being interrupted by your teammates.
"Any questions?" Price asked. No one raised their hand.
"Alright, lets roll," You cringed at his fatherly choice of words while leaving the room.
Ghost pov:
I watched Y/N leave the room, my heart swelled with warmth remembering that she was mine now.
mine
I let the word slip off my tongue, which earned me a weird glance from Soap, but I shook him off and went to catch up with Y/N. She looked back when she heard my footsteps and gave me a soft smile, causing my stomach to erupt in butterflies.
"Hey," I croaked.
"Morning!" she said cheerfully.
"You uh... ready for this mission?" I asked, my tone of voice awkward.
"Yeah, you?" she responded.
We continued the awkward small talk until we met up with the others, I feared I was messing things up because I didn't know what to say. The initial giddiness was wearing off and this relationship was beginning to scare me. I swallowed my fear and focused on the objective ahead, eliminating two targets.
After all the equipment checks were complete, the 141 boarded a helicopter. My hand brushed Y/N's during liftoff and I quickly retracted it, she gave me a quizzical glance that looked almost hurt. I mumbled an apology and looked away.
Fuck! Why do you have to be so awkward!!!! I said to myself.
When we landed and broke off into teams, I was relieved to be grouped with Y/N. We landed on top of a skyscraper in a big city. I tried my best to get myself locked in but my thoughts and eyes drifted to Y/N, who stood a few feet away, loading her gun. I looked at her fragile form, I know she's more than capable of holding her own, but what if she gets hurt. I shake my head violently as the thought of her reeling in pain is too much to bear.
I think back to the last time I was left in charge of someone more vulnerable than me and replay the image of my recruits throat being slit over again. I shake my head once more and begin to load my own gun before entering the building with Gaz and Y/N.
I stick to Y/N's side as we stay low. the top floors of the building are mostly offices, the workers are glued to their computers in a robotic looking way. Sneaking past was a walk in the park. Going in for the kill quietly would be the issue.
The 73rd floor is where intel said the target would be, fear ripped through me as we inched closer.
Please, nothing go wrong I said over and over again in my head.
We reach the floor and things are eerily quiet. We find ourselves in a long corridor with multiple doors, none of which are marked. I take out a device as Gaz and Y/N click silencers onto their guns. I point the device towards one of the doors, sure enough, a heat signature in the shape of a man appears on screen.
"We can't just walk in through the door," Gaz says, I nod.
Y/N looks around for a moment before pointing up at the ceiling, I turn my head upwards and notice a vent. I nod at her to acknowledge her idea. I hoist Gaz up, he takes the cover off the vent and climbs in. Then, I get Y/N up there. I try not to think about the skin to skin contact we are having and focus on the mission but my mind gets the better of me. Finally, Gaz gives me a hand and I climb up myself.
We crawl a few feet before reaching an opening. We peer into the room and see our target typing away on a computer, unaware of our eyes on him. Y/N pushes the end of her gun into one of the slits in the cover and gets ready to fire. My heart begins to race as he stops typing for a stretch break. His arms extend in the air as he tilts his head back. I panic and move to pull Y/N out of sight, but I underestimate how little room the vent gives us, as well as the strength of the ceiling tiles.
Suddenly, We come crashing down onto the office floor of the target, who yells and grabs a gun from his desk drawer. Before he can point it at us though, Gaz fires from his knees and hits the target directly in the chest. I grab Y/N and the three of us break a window and jump out onto a lower rooftop where Gaz radios for exfil as I cradle Y/N in my arms and apologize to both of them profusely.
"I fucked everything up, I'm sorry, I'm sorry,"
Y/N gets to her feet and brushes dust and debris from her body. "Hey, Your fine, everyone makes mistakes."
"Yeah man, we all fuck up sometimes," Gaz agrees.
"But you both could've gotten killed, I just... I," I stop talking as Y/N gives me that caring, nurturing look. My cheeks heat up and I stand back up.
*timeskip*
Later that night, there's a knock at my door. I open the door and I am relieved to see Y/N standing there in casual clothes. After the mission, I went straight to the showers, opting to eat dinner alone in my room. I was grateful that Y/N had come to find me, I felt more ready to face her now that my nerves had died down.
She walks straight into me and wraps her arms around me, burying her face in my chest. I pat her back softly, feeling at ease in her embrace.
"You were worried about me," she murmured into my chest.
"Yeah..." I confessed.
She lifted her head up and looked into my eyes. "Don't be," she said softly. "You're going to put yourself in danger. besides, I can hold my own."
I knew she was right, but It wouldn't stop me from worrying about her, so instead I changed the subject.
"Am I too awkward?" I needed to know the answer, the real answer, not just her reassurence.
"Si... You're not too much or too little of anything, okay? Don't worry about me, or being good enough for me, or anything like that. If your doing something that hurts me, or makes me feel sad or uncomfortable, I promise I'll tell you."
I sighed and smiled, looking down at my girlfriend, "You just know exactly how to make me feel better don't you."
She smiles, still not letting go of me.
My voice goes softer, a little more serious, more vulnerable. "Will you stay with me tonight?"
Y/N pauses for a beat, I get scared and feel like I ruined something before she speaks.
"Of course I will Simon."
I slept easily that night with my girl in my arms. Her face buried into my neck as my muscular arms practically swallowed her figure.
"Mine," I whispered to her when I was sure she fell asleep.
"Yours," she replied back breathily.

Reader pov:
The following weeks are quite uneventful. We are sent on a few minor missions, all of which are successful, and are in a state of immense boredom. You almost want a war to break out at this point. But one late January day, your father calls everyone to the debriefing room. Anticipating a new mission, possibly one with more excitement, you and the 141 are practically bouncing on the balls of your feet with anticipation. One by one, you file in and sit down at the familiar long wooden table. knees bounce with expectation under the table.
Price walks in, everyone draws a breath.
Oddly, price has no folders in his hand, no loose papers, nothing. He walks in silently, clears his throat, sits at the head of the table and clasps his hands. He pauses before speaking.
"We're going to a wedding," he puts bluntly.
everyone exchanges confused glances.
"Well that was anticlimactic," Soap blurts.
Everyone breaks into chatter about the event before Price raises his hands to quiet the room.
"It's a good friend of mine, we served together. Names Bill,"
ohhhhh uncle Bill, you thought to yourself, happy for him and his soon-to-be wife.
Everyone nods and discusses the dress code, "Wait, wait, wait... am I going to have to wear a suit?" a voice from the corner of the room speaks up.
You turned toward the sound and saw Ghost, obviously peeved about having to dress up.
"Yes Ghost, your going to have to put on a suit," Your dad rolls his eyes.
The chatter continues as everyone files out of the room, the wedding was on for tomorrow evening, and you needed a dress. You contemplated returning home to get something out of your closet, but your overused sundresses just wouldn't cut it. You needed something flattering and mature.
That afternoon, you got permission to drive into the city to shop. The nearest mall was an hours drive from the base. Plugging your phone into the aux, you drowned out the hum of the road with an upbeat playlist for the drive.
You soon found yourself in a gorgeous, modern yet classy store. Elegant dresses lined the wall, from ballroom length to cocktail, there was no shortage of styles. Time, however, was of the essence. As you wandered aimlessly through the endless racks of dresses, an employee noticed your distress and walked over to introduce herself.
"Hey there! my names Georgia, how are you today?"
You give her a relieved smile. "Lost," you admit.
"Oh, happens to everyone, no worries. come with me, i'll get you measured and we'll find your perfect match!" Georgia says cheerfully.
She walks you over to an area near the fitting rooms, a plush ottoman and a soft rug are on the floor in front of a tall mirror. Georgia grabs her measuring tape and notes a few things.
"So, what occasion is this dress for?"
"A wedding, distant family friend."
She hums, "Okay so, like stunning... but like not steal the show stunning."
"Oh well I hardly think I could steal any of the spotlight from-"
Georgia cuts you off, "Nonsense! your absolutely enchanting!"
You give a weak smile at the complement as she goes and finds multiple dresses in various styles and colors. She goes through a quick but in depth fitting and analysis of each. Within the hour, you find one that you fall in love with. You can't help but grin as you look at the way the fabric showcases your body perfectly. You take it to the register and pay, bidding Georgia goodbye with a wave and a thank you.
That night, you do your best at an attempt to sleep. Your efforts remain futile as you toss and turn thinking of tomorrow. Catching up with old friends and family, dancing and drinking, but best of all...
Ghost gets to see you in a dress, The most flattering and gorgeous dress you've ever picked out. Finally, you find yourself drifting off slowly with those exciting thoughts.
-timeskip-
You arrive at the reception with your father, the rest of the group has their own rides. You try to let loose a little by grabbing a drink and catching up with friends and family, but you find yourself eyeing the door constantly, waiting for your masked comrade to walk in.
"Watching for danger eh? can't escape them habits the military drills into ya," The groom comes up behind you and ruffles your hair. You half smile and turn towards him.
"How ya been kid?" he asks.
The two of you chat for a few minutes before he goes off to find your father, you return to watching the door, thankful that he thought it was military instinct.
About an hour goes by and you down a few drinks, you were slightly buzzed but your mind was still clear. You still keep an eye on the door, waiting for Simon. You hardly notice when an old childhood friend of yours snakes an arm around your shoulder.
Startled, you flinch and raise your fist, but then you realize who it is and drop your arm awkwardly.
"Oh... uh... sorry Jake," you mumble.
"Ha! You musta had half a mind to think I was some kinda creep," Jake smirks and pulls you in for a hug. You try to pull away, but he has a vice-like grip around your shoulders.
You and Jake had been neighbors as kids, he was always over keeping you company after your mom left. The two of you had grown up like siblings, that's how you saw it at least...
Around your teenage years, you had started to experiment with boys a bit. Jake HATED all of your boyfriends. At first, it seemed like a protective older brother type thing, but after a while Jake got possessive. He followed you on dates, stalked the social media of all the boys you talked to, he scared people off and you hated it. This marked the beginning of the end of your friendship. Once you graduated and went to basic training, you talked to Jake less and less. Seeing him here was startling to say the least.
"Oh uh... yeah... didn't recognize you I guess," you said awkwardly, avoiding eye contact.
You scanned the venue for a familiar face to start a conversation with so you could get away from Jake. He seemed to notice this and tilted your chin up so you were looking at him.
"You here with anyone," Jake asked.
"Just uh... my dad," you decided to leave the 141 out of it so Jake wouldn't get angry and try anything.
"Mhm, how about I buy you a drink then?" he suggested.
"Uhm no... I've got one already," you gestured with your half empty glass. plus, you wanted to keep a clear mind in case Jake tried anything.
The night went on and you finally broke off from Jake. You floated in-between conversations, still no sign of Ghost, but you had seen Gaz and Soap briefly. In the midst of your search for the Lieutenant, you found yourself on the dance floor. Unfortunately, Jake found you too.
"Ah, Y/N, thought I lost you there,"
You chuckled uncomfortably, trying to keep it polite. The song switched to a slow dance and Jake reached for your hand.
"Seeing you here has brought me back," he whispered in your ear. "You've matured since high school" He places his other hand on your waist and you try to wiggle away.
"Jake stop"
"Oh, I'm sorry, where are my manners. May I have this dance?" He smirked.
"No. No you may not," You didn't know if it was the alcohol or not but you suddenly gained the courage to push him away, leaving all formalities behind.
"Y/N come on... we're made for each other, I know you better than anyone," Jake's voice grew more stern and threatening as he pulled you closer again.
"I...no...n-" your voice squeaked.
Suddenly, Jake's face turned pale, his eyes widened and you felt a hand on your shoulder.
"She's taken," Ghost says bluntly.
You are shocked at the turn of events and spin around to see Ghost, which causes you to fall a little off balance, but ghost places a strong hand on the small of your back to support you.
"I've gotcha, this prick won't bother you anymore," he says softly to you. His voice becomes more menacing when he faces Jake, "are we clear?"
The three words from Ghost are all it takes for Jake to give a quick nod and make his exit. Ghost gives a quick grunt "An old friend?"
"Yeah, something of the sort..." you breathe, watching him go.
Ghost clears his throat, "Sorry i'm late."
"It's no big deal, you came just in time."
"Yeah, just in time to dance with you."
Your heart rate quickens as you process his words. Is he joking? there's no way...
Soon enough, the two of you are whisked into the whirlwind of couples, Ghost dips and spins you with great care, as if you are a fragile porcelain doll. You've danced with men before, but this man makes you feel like a princess.
"You look gorgeous by the way," he says softly.
Okay, no way he's actually saying this, i'm dreaming.
"You look uh... good... er handsome yourself," you say breathlessly.
Come on liquid courage! do something other than make me tipsy!
You continue to move fluidly all over the floor, "You've got some experience I see," you joke.
"Mmh... maybe I just did my research beforehand," he smirked.
The song ends and the two of you take a seat. You take him in, his suit, which shows off his biceps and seems perfectly tailored to him. His balaclava, which he exchanged for a plain black one instead of skull print.
"You clean up nicely, trying to impress someone?" You say teasingly.
"I guess you could say that," he shrugs nonchalantly.
Now that's an answer you weren't expecting.
You sit in silence for a moment before Ghost speaks up. "That guy back there, was he trying anything on you?"
"To dance with me, yeah."
Ghost furrows his eyebrows, "and you know him?"
"Yeah... long story."
"Hm."
More silence follows until Ghost speaks again. "Seeing you with him, I didn't like that one bit," he looks straight ahead, not at you.
"Jealous?" you smirk.
"Yeah I uh... I guess you could say that," he sighs, still looking ahead.
Silence again
"You know what, fuck it," Ghost says slightly louder. "I didn't like seeing you with whatever his name was because I like you." he says matter-of-factly.
Your breath catches "I...I-you...me..."
he did not just say that
"I like you a lot and I couldn't give a fuck what our ranks are or who your father is, I just want... no, I NEED you to be mine," He continues.
"I...I uh... yes," You are embarrassed at how much of a nervous wreck you are right now.
"I'm taking that as a you like me back," Ghost says.
"Y-yes," you breathe.
You slowly get more comfortable as the night drags on, you never leave the side of your new boyfriend as the two of you bask in each other.
"All I want to do right now is dote on you and love you, show you my caring side," Ghost says at one point.
You giggle, "is the alcohol getting to you? Are you going to regret this in the morning?"
"Nope, completely sober, wouldn't want to forget this night with you."
The rest of the night is like a dream, you can't help but picture how the following days will be with this new relationship. hopefully this hangover won't be a smack in the face in the morning.

Reader pov:
Weeks after the New Years party, everyone's spirits have died down. The decorations had gone back into the supply closets and the base was business as usual. You hung up your gear and were ready to return to the barracks after a week long, sleepless mission. You felt so drained that you didn't even notice the young recruits following you. It wasn't until their snickering grew louder that you turned to face them.
You whirled around with a pissed look on your face, bags under your eyes from the long days and nights you had endured. You were not in the mood for games.
"Whatcha lookin' at, Y/N Price?" one of them said impolitely.
You sized the group up. There were three of them, young and green. They obviously haven't been trained enough to have developed even the slightest bit of respect for other soldiers, especially those higher ranked than them. You didn't pull rank often, mostly because you only outranked the privates and specialists, but you were too exhausted to be nice to them at this point.
"You three are out past curfew," You said sternly.
Another one of them fired back quickly, "Then I'd say you are too. Or do you get special treatment for being the captain's kid?"
Captains kid.
The title put you off and you glared at the recruits. How did they even know that? Most people assumed your last name was a coincidence. this base was so big that most people didn't even know your father, a captain, let alone you to put two and two together.
You decided to hold your ground and not show that the comment affected you.
"Curfew only applies to recruits."
They begin the circle you like a predator does its prey.
"It must be nice having it easy..."
"You must've climbed the ranks twice as fast as everyone else."
"I wonder how much time off you get."
The young men continue to slander you, their remarks getting worse by the minute. You contemplate running, but you don't want to show weakness. Tears rush to your eyes anyway.
"You're kinda pretty... but one wipe and its all gone," One gibes
"For sure, I assume daddy's money buys it all."
"Mhm... all that makeup, maybe some Botox too if she's that kinda girl"
They talk about you as if you're not even there anymore. Suddenly, one reaches out his hand to grasp a strand of your hair. You jerk away and let out a scream fueled by fear, weakness and exhaustion. You crumple to the ground in tears, no longer caring who sees. Their comments didn't even hurt you that bad, you're just so exhausted that your emotions get the better of you. At least that's what you tell yourself.
The men are mortified to see you in this deranged state and make a quick getaway. Leaving you alone in the hall between the gear lockers and the showers late at night. as if things couldn't get any worse, you feel the presence of someone standing above you.
You pick your head up from your hands and open your eyes to see who it could be. You are incredibly embarrassed when you see who it is.
"Oh, h-hi Ghost," you say, springing to your feet and quickly pawing at your eyes to wipe the tears away. It obviously doesn't work because he still looks at you with pity on his features. Which were only covered by a black surgical mask, allowing you to see his slightly outgrown hair and his ears for the first time. His hair looked damp, towel dried, with said towel slung over one of his broad shoulders.
"Y/N?" he says your name in a concerned voice.
You didn't know how to explain yourself, so you just shifted back and forth on your feet nervously until he spoke again.
"Why are you crying?" he asks bluntly.
"I- well..."
he raises an eyebrow
You sigh, "Some recruits were making fun of me..." you said in a soft, defeated voice.
"Come again?"
"Some recruits were making fun of me," you said slightly louder, but more embarrassed.
He furrows his eyebrows, you feel like melting from embarrassment.
"About what?"
"My dad."
"Your dad?" He says questioningly.
"Yes... my father."
"Such fuckin pricks," he says angrily. "And I assume they think your getting special treatment or some shit?"
"Mhm," You look at your feet to avoid his gaze.
he purses his lips, "Come here, I'm gonna walk you to your room. You deserve rest."
You silently comply, walking next to him and getting sleepily drunk off the scent of his body wash.
Ghost Pov
The next morning, I opted to wake up earlier than most to use the gym before it got crowded. I had forgotten about the recruits being required to be at training this early, which worked to my advantage. A group of four recruits walked towards the training facilities, three of them telling the fourth about their antics the night before.
"Yeah man, she was crying and everything, it was so crazy."
"You should'a seen how sad she was that we outed her for being treated better."
"Mhm, she probably didn't have to go through basic like us. Weak ass bitch."
I listen in and grow more infuriated with each one that talks.
"Recruits!" I bark.
They turn around and suddenly slink back with fear when they see me, as most do.
"Who are you talking about?"
"Uhm... no one sir... just a girl back home."
"Bullshit, you talked about her not going through basic like the rest of you. I know who your talking about, and I can assure you she did."
"S-sorry lieutenant, please don't report us or anything," one of them says sheepishly.
"Report you? you'll be lucky if reporting you is the only thing I do."
"No sir, please! y-you don't understand!" one of them pleads.
"Yeah! the only reason we did it is to get her attention... we just wanted the pretty sergeant to notice us."
He doesn't get another chance to defend himself, my fist connects with his face before I even realize what i'm doing. He stumbles back while clutching his jaw and slams into the wall, doubling over in pain. His buddies stand there in fear, wincing and waiting for me to deliver their punishments.
"She's mine, got that?"
With that, I walk off towards the gym.

The Captains Daughter- Chapter 18
A/N: Thank you all for readinggg!! this one took awhile to come out so thank you for being patient with me :D
Word count: 1.3k

Ghost's pov It's been a few days… I have not spoken to Y/N once. I feel terrible as she spends less time with me. Occasionally offering a sad, guilt filled smile in the mess hall or at meetings. I haven't shown up for training in days, I wonder if she still waits for me at the gym. I hate to say it but I miss her. Even though I feel so bitter and cranky this time of year. I've never felt this for anyone. Being around Y/N makes me feel good. It makes this job feel less like a job. It sounds cliche but it's true. This morning, I find myself walking to where Y/N and I usually train. I straighten my shoulders and put on a serious face as I walk in. I expect Y/N to not be there, but Instead I am greeted with the sight of her pretty face breaking into surprise as I enter. I try my best to keep my eyes void of emotion, although I want nothing more than to hold her and whisper apologies into her ear. "Good morning Lieutenant," she says respectfully as she stands at attention. My gaze softens. "Y/N…" "About the other day, I shouldn't have yelled at you. I just…" I can't believe I'm about to tell her this "I don't know how to deal with this… your kindness." She looks up at me questioningly. "The guys don't usually question my behavior because that's just how dude's are, but you… You're changing me Y/N." I pause "I really enjoy your company, you don't piss me off… well, not as much as other people I guess," I smirk. She giggles. "I want to be a better person, I don't like how people are scared of me," I sigh as I finish. "Can I give you some advice?" She asks. "Mhm" "This might not make sense to you, but I think you should save Ghost for the battlefield and just be Simon for everyone else," "I don't follow," I say, confused. "Well, when I think of Ghost, I think of you in a fight. The huge guy with the skull mask and a gun. But Simon, Simon is you when you let loose. I haven't seen it much, but I like that version of you a lot better." I nod. "Okay… I think I get it." She changes the subject, "So, what do you have planned for training today?" "Hm, I think that's more of Ghost's thing, I'm Simon today," She beams at me with that radiant smile of hers, "You mean it?" "Yeah, It's time for a change," I say solemnly. Her and I walk out of the gym and into the hallway surrounded with a comfortable silence. We walk past the mess hall and break area and I notice something unusual. "What are they setting up over there?" I ask. "Oh, It's New Year's Eve so everyone who's off duty tonight is going to throw a party," She says softly, knowing the holiday topic is still sensitive. I surprise her with my answer, "Ah, I see… are you going?" "I guess so… why not?" We continue to walk in silence for a few moments. "You know… I think i'm going to go as well," I say finally. Her head tilts to the side and she raises her eyebrows, "Really!?" "…You know you don't have to go just because I suggested that you come out of your shell more often. I don't want you to get too overwhelmed." "I want to go, I should be getting out of my comfort zone more often." Y/N purses her lips, seemingly contemplating it. "Good, i'm glad," she smiles.
-Timeskip-
That night, I stood with Gaz and Soap having a beer while scanning the room for Y/N. "I wonder who Ghost could be looking for," Gaz joked to Soap, who snickered in response. I only rolled my eyes and looked down at my half empty drink. "Y'know LT, i'm glad you came, this is nice," Soap confesses. "It is, I like this more laid back you," Gaz agrees. "You can thank Y/N, she inspired it," I tell them. "Psht, of course she did." "You could get some action tonight… if you play your cards right," Soap says leaning in closer and lowering his voice. "Wha- I'm not… she wouldn't…" I sputter out, rapid fire. "Not like that, get ya head out the gutter!" I blush and chuckle. "What is it then?" "The captains on duty tonight, he won't be here to supervise his daughter, you could make a move," Soap shrugs. I bite my lower lip, realizing that this is the perfect opportunity to confess to Y/N "But, what if she rejects me, I still have to be able to look her in the eye in the morning," "Oh, for fucks sake! would you take a risk for once? live a little?" Gaz says, shaking his head. "Hey, I've never done this before! i'm nervous," I try defending myself. "LT's nervous? Ha! that's a first," Soap blurts, clapping me on the back. I ignore the rest of their gibes because I notice Y/N entering the room. Time seems to slow as she makes her way towards us in a sparkly silver mini dress. I feel my cheeks heat up beneath the mask as she flashes her signature smile when she sees us. I take in her hair and makeup, done to perfection. The heavenly scent of her perfume lingers in my nostrils when she stops and stands beside me. "Hey everyone," she says casually. I find myself lost in her beauty as she joins in the conversation, but as the night goes on, our group splits off. Gaz and Soap mingle with other people, I try to stick next to Y/N and talk with her, but she gets whisked off by someone every five minutes it seems like. Eventually I get overwhelmed, stepping outside and pressing my back up against the cold stone building. I fish around in my pocket for my cigs and a lighter. I put one in my mouth and thumb the lighter until I get it lit. I exhale deeply and watch my cold breath swirl up and away with the smoke. Maybe this was a bad idea after all… I think to myself. I watch the twinkling stars shift in the sky for awhile, It seems to calm my nerves. That, or the nicotine. I hear the sliding door open and close and peer at the person out of the corner of my eye. "Simon…?" the voice says. Y/N "Yeah, It's me," I gesture to her with my cigarette. "Is everything alright, I've been looking for you," she says softly. "Yeah… it's just a lot to take in I guess." "The party?" "The party, the people, the mindless, drunken talk." "Yeah, I get it." I turn to face her and she still looks beautiful as ever, her mascara smudged slightly onto her upper eyelid. Lipstick worn off, the remnants of it staining the glass of the drink in her hand. Her breath has a slight tinge of alcohol to it as she speaks. I notice the redness in her face, I can't help but think it could be me for a moment but then I look down at her. "Ah shit, you don't even have a coat on… here, take mine," I insist. "No, it's alright… I just got out here. Besides, wouldn't you be cold." "Just take it," I say, holding it out to her. "My father only taught me a few things that were worth a shit, being a gentleman is one of them." She reluctantly takes the jacket and slings it over her shoulders, thanking me. The heavy fabrics envelop her frame, her legs are still exposed. I have half a mind to bring her inside but then she starts talking. "Happy new year," she says quietly. I check my phone and see that it is indeed past midnight. "Happy new year, Y/N."

The Captain's Daughter Chapter 17
A/N: I've actually had the motivation to write lately!? plus I haven't been so busy, so that's probably a factor... As always, thank you guys soooo sooo much for reading! :)

Reader pov:
In the weeks that followed, the weather was starting to look more like that of the holiday season. It was late December now, Christmas had recently passed and all of the soldiers were excited to ring in the new year. All except for Ghost, who earned himself the nickname "Grinch" during this time of year. You were becoming increasingly worried about him, he stayed in his quarters all day, only coming out for mealtimes and training. Originally, you had decided to leave him alone, thinking he would become more social again after the Christmas festivities had ended and everyone who had gone on leave had come back. But the decorations were coming down and people were returning well fed and rested, Simon was still nowhere to be seen.
"Give 'em time, he's like this every year," Soap tried to reassure you.
"But why? Do the holidays upset him," You ask.
"Somthin' like that, I guess," Soap shrugged.
"I wouldn't try talkin to him though, he gets awful nasty this time of year," he continues.
You thank Soap for the information but ignore his advice to avoid the Lieutenant. You planned to get him out of his slump. You made your way over to the barracks and found the room assigned to Simon. Your heart thumped in your chest as you gave the door a hearty knock. Footsteps thudded across the tile floor as the occupant of the room got closer to the door. You drew in a breath when the door creaked open.
Simon stood in the door frame, a tired and faraway look in his eyes as he looked down at you.
"Sergeant?" He addressed you by your title.
You took in his appearance, his shoulders drooped. His eyebrows were furrowed, which was one of his only exposed facial features. He looked like he was struggling, hurting even, despite his ever rigid appearance.
"Sir..." you kept the formalities, not wanting to upset him or make him uncomfortable while in this state. "I noticed you haven't been around much lately... I just wanted to check up on you, this time of year is hard for a lot of us."
Ghost pov:
If that was anyone else I would have slammed the door in their face.
But it was Y/N.
I stayed in the doorway, not knowing what to say to her.
She looked up at me with her lovely eyes, "May I come in?"
"Uh... yeah, sure"
Why am I letting her in
I become very aware of the state of my living space as I step aside to let her in. It's messy to say the least. I pick up some of the clothes that are strewn about on the floor and toss them into a corner.
"Sorry, haven't got around to cleaning up in here in a minute."
She looks around as the disorder of the room. "Ghost, you mean to tell me you've been locked up in here for over a week and haven't had time to clean. You hardly leave this place," she says questioningly.
"I've got a lot on my plate right now," I mumble.
Her eyes soften as she looks at me. "Simon, why don't you just tell me what's on your mind."
"It's nothing, Y/N... nothing for you to worry about." I try my best to remain dismissive and closed off from her, but the way she looks at me with that soft gaze just makes me want to pour my heart out to her.
"Simon..." her use of my real name makes me tense up. "You're my Lieutenant, Your always there to help me... in your own, strict and commanding way. You took me in as a transfer and made me stronger, a better soldier. It's my turn to return the favor, something tells me that you don't have someone you can go to for times like this, let me be that person for you."
My heart melts at her kind words.
She really wants to help me.
"I'm just... not big on the holidays you know," I hope that this explanation will suffice, but Y/N just stands there, waiting for me to say something else. I begin to feel awkward, so I fill the silence again. "Everyone's just so... happy... and disorderly... this place doesn't feel like a military base during this time of year."
"I see that, what makes you think of this as a bad thing?"
She's starting to sound like a therapist, and its getting on my nerves. I continue to answer her questions, just to make her happy so she'll stay longer.
"I just... I don't understand it. Why is everyone so happy just because of a holiday?"
She purses her lips, thinking of an answer.
"Well, I guess the festivities here remind them of home... what do you like about being home for the holidays?"
"I don't," I snort.
"Oh, Simon... I'm so sorry"
I do something that I haven't done in awhile, something charged by watching everyone's stupid traditions and being wished "Merry Christmas" by far too many people.
"If your so sorry, then why don't you leave!" I yell at her, not caring who could hear me through the thick walls. Whoever had the room next to mine was probably out partying or on duty anyway.
Her eyes fill with hurt, but I feel no regret. She inches towards the door, her sad eyes still on me.
"And who told you that you could call me Simon!? its LIEUTENANT, or GHOST." I can feel my face getting hot with rage, I must look so menacing to Y/N right now, but i'm too pissed to care.
She makes her way towards the door, her fingers grazing the handle. She looks back at me once more, her teary eyes getting red. I say nothing as she steps into the hall leaving me alone again. The room is filled with silence. I stare at the doorway where Y/N once stood. I bit my lip, part of me wished she was still here, that I allowed her to help me.
I hate the holidays, because the joy of being surrounded by a happy family is something that I'll never have.

Reader pov:
You and your father have silently agreed to just let go of what happened during the commute to the grocery store. The two of you have not talked about the topic since, and you were grateful for it. You headed for the doors to get outside the base, as you had decided earlier that a morning run should do the trick for your sluggish start to the day. It seems you had woken up on the wrong side of the bed this morning. Barely making conversation at breakfast, feeling irritated and put off by everything. Even the sound of Gaz breathing when you sat next to him in the mess hall made you want to choke him out.
You breathed in deeply, savoring the crispy winter air as it's freezing tendrils circled your lungs. You sighed and were about to get moving when you heard a gruff noise behind you.
It was Ghost, clearing his throat.
You turned towards him, a quizzical look crossing your features.
"I've tracked you across the whole bloody base," he said, in a gravely, morning voice.
"And?" You said, annoyed. You didn't feel like talking to anyone not even your mysterious crush.
"And, a good soldier should know to watch their damn six."
"Yeah, in the field," you roll your eyes.
"Someone's pissy this morning, I thought we were on good terms now?" He chuckled
"I just... sorry- you didn't do anything wrong-" he cut you off.
"I know," he smirked.
"... just bad nights sleep I guess," you glared, finishing your sentence.
"Where are you headed?" his voice softened slightly, but his gaze still remained rigid and judgy.
"Out for a run."
"You don't mind if I join do you?"
You raised and eyebrow at his suggestion
"What? i'm not supposed to be friendly with my teammates ever?"
"I-I...no...I don't mind," you said skeptically.
The two of you took off at a quick pace, you were surprised that the lieutenant could keep up despite the skull balaclava covering his nose and mouth, as well as his large, toned build.
"You run often?" you ask.
"Mmm... when I was a kid I got in trouble a lot. I had to make a quick getaway sometimes."
"Who was chasing you... the law?"
"Eh, sometimes," he said, nonchalantly.
"Well, what kind of trouble?" you asked, not knowing whether to be concerned or intrigued.
"Dumb, teenage shit. You know, smashing windows... drinking... smoking, anything to get me out of the house really. I matured eventually."
"And now your in the military, the irony," you paused. "You know, I really wouldn't have guessed that you were so... unruly as a kid, Mister 'im so strict and tough," you laughed.
He gave a chuckle in response.
"Mhm, my teenage years were pretty lawless... probably can't say the same for you, Price's kid," he smirked.
"Ah you got me there... I did get into a little trouble though."
"Really...?"
"I dabbled with boys mostly..."
This made Simon's heart rate quicken, the thought of you with other guys, but then he reminded himself that you were a teenager at the time.
"Boys? I'm sure the captain wasn't very fond of that"
"Oh hell no... he always chased 'em away. I never could keep a boyfriend for very long. No matter how secretive I was he always found out."
Noted Ghost thought to himself.
Ghost laughs, "Yup, sounds like ol' cap."
The two of you fall into a comfortable silence for a few minutes as Ghost thinks about your love life.
"You...you don't happen to have any of those men in your life now... do you?" he asks quietly.
"I uhm....uh...well... no," You respond, a bit flustered.
"Good, otherwise i'd have to tell cap" He added, voice stronger and more confident while trying to play the question off as a joke.
You two were almost back to the base now, as you finished at the doors Ghost spoke up again as he swung the door open for you.
"It's about time for our daily training now, good timing."
You nodded as you stepped through the door into the pleasantly warm building. You walked down to the training facilities with him.
"Lets do some lifting," Ghost suggested.
You groaned in protest, dragging your feet as your lieutenant led you into the gym. You went through a few sets, bench press, curls, a few ab exercises, and finally some squats. By the time you were ready to start squatting, your body was exhausted, especially your legs considering you ran beforehand. Ghost looked at you with a slight bit of sympathy.
"Lets just do two sets of eight for this one alright Y/N?"
"Thank you, G-Ghost," you sputtered as you struggled to keep the bar level as you got into your first squat.
You wobbled, your legs quivered as you raised yourself back up into a standing postion.
One
You shook even more on the way down the second time, Ghost noticed this and left the wall he was leaning up against. He stood behind you with his hands open, ready to steady the bar if needed.
down, up
Two
By the third rep, the bar was so far away from being level on your shoulders your whole body tipped to the right. Luckily, Ghost caught you and lifted the bar off your shoulders before you could fall. He put the bar back on the rack and took a few pounds off of it while you sat down for a moment.
"If you're not okay enough to finish we can be done here," Ghost told you. His words were sympathetic but his voice was void of emotion, it was hard to gauge weather he was disappointed in your failure to finish the set or if he was concerned for you.
Ghost pov:
Goddamnit, she totally felt that.
I stood in front of Y/N while she sat down for a moment to catch her breath. I had to get the bar off of her before she hurt herself, but in the process I had pressed myself against her by accident. Which in return gave me a little problem... down there. Forever grateful to my mask for saving my ass once again, I tried to exert calmness towards Y/N while she rested. I desperately hoped that she would be done now that she was almost crushed by the weight.
"No, I'd like to finish out the set at least," she responded to my question.
"You sure? no shame in calling it quits to avoid injury," I responded in a warmer tone than before.
"Yeah, I've got it," she reassured me, more strength in her voice now.
Again, I positioned myself behind her to spot her. Only this time, a half step further back, not forgetting about my hard on. I'm not going to lie, It was tough to just stand there silently while she got her reps in. All I wanted to do was praise her, to tell her what a good job she was doing. I wanted to see her smile when I told her she did something right, I just wanted to make her happy.
"Good work," I managed to say when she got all eight reps in.
She told me goodbye and turned to leave. I watched her walk away, she took a few steps before I couldn't help myself.
"Wait!"
She turned around.
"I enjoyed running with you this morning... really- it was nice. Thank you for letting me go with you."
Her face broke into a genuine smile.
"Thank you for coming with me, it was nice to see you more informal... you know, outside of all the work stuff."
When she walked off again, I couldn't help but get all giddy and boyish. I felt like a teenager swooning over his crush at school.
fucking hell, Y/N enjoyed my company.
Reader pov:
When you left the gym and were sure that no one could see you, you damn near squealed for joy.
He liked running with me!

The Captains Daughter: Chapter 15
December has been decembering lately, here's CH 15! its a bit short though. Please give me feedback and criticism! Have a great weekend and enjoy :)
Reader pov:
Riding high off the success of your last mission, the 141 is humbled when put on kitchen duty the week after. You and Price have lucked out however, because you guys received the easy job, grocery shopping. Gaz and Soap looked on jealously as you and your father left for town, you waved at them tauntingly. The car ride was quiet for most of the time, you rested your head against the window, the January air turning the surface a bitter cold. The hum of the tires against the road made up for the yet to be replaced radio in the vehicle. Your father gripped the wheel tightly, his turns sharp, his wholesome smile was missing today.
"Dad, is everything okay?" You asked, put off by his silence.
"Everything's fine" he responded sharply
you decided not to bother him in his terse state, returning to the window watching the road fly by. After awhile, Price finally spoke. He rubbed his chin for a moment before turning his head to face you in the passenger seat.
"I know what's going on, i'm not stupid."
"Hm?" you said, genuinely confused.
"Don't act coy, you've got a crush on one of my soldiers."
FUCK
FUCK
FUCK
"I've got no idea what your talking about," you lied.
"Bullshit, your basically eyefucking Simon." He paused, looking at you with a piercing glare. "And don't think I don't know about that whole soup stunt. Who knows what else you could've been doing in there... In his quarters with him... while he was 'sick' " Price's voice gets louder and deeper as he gets more and more upset.
"Fine dad! yeah... I like him... I like Ghost" You confessed, not being able to stand his yelling for any longer.
Your father balled his hands into fists and punched the steering wheel, causing the car to swerve a little. Thankfully, you were driving on open road with no other cars around to hit.
"Goddamnit kid!" he yelled in anguish. "Are you out of your mind!?" "Do you even know how much older he is than you!"
All you could do was sit there and take the yelling.
"Can you even comprehend how far out of regs that is?" Price calmed down a little.
"Dad- I...I know, but..." you were cut off by him yelling again.
"Simon is a Lieutenant, you are a sergeant. Not to mention he has about a decade on you!"
You returned to silence.
"Listen kid, I don't want you getting hurt. I care about you, Simon cares about you. I've come to realize that your getting older, your an adult. You're relationships are gonna be different from the ones you had in highschool. Different guys, different maturity level, more serious, but that doesn't mean i'm not going to continue to protect you. I'm your dad, i'll always be looking out for you. I'm not going to be able to control your feelings, but you absolutely cannot date your Lieutenant. Your going to get in trouble, He's going to get in trouble. I, as your commanding officer will get in trouble." Your father drones on.
"Just stay away from him outside of the required activities. Keep it tactical, alright?" He sighs.
"Okay dad," You agree, defeated.
You wouldn't tell him this, but really, you had no plan to supress your feelings.
Who cares if its wrong? it's not like he likes me back anyway.
The grocery run was awkward and uncomfortable. Your dad had tried to pretend that an argument had not happened in the car moments ago, but he couldn't hide his disapproving gaze. You felt guilty inside for not listening to your father, but you couldn't tear yourself away from the thoughts of your Lieutenant. The time spent in the grocery store, as well as the ride back to base, were, for the most part, silent.
Meanwhile
"FUCK this, FUCK that, FUCK cleaning, FUUUUUCKKKKKK!" Soap yelled as he dipped the mop back into the murky water. He lifted it back into the air and let the water wring out of the device for a few seconds, before slamming it back down on the ground with a splat and wiping the floor apathetically. He repeated this action with intensifying aggression until the mess hall floors were "Clean". More so, flooded with dirty water and a 'caution when wet' sign on top.

Ghost pov:
Somehow, even deep inside the woods, covered in mud and grime, exhausted and sweaty, Y/N is still the most beautiful woman i've ever seen. Her face when she gets frustrated when we make a wrong turn is so adorable, I think i'm smitten.
There's no denying it at this point, i'm way too far down the rabbit hole.
I've recovered now after being sick last week. Y/N sure helped a lot. I think it was her presence that seemed to magically cure me. I can't stop picturing the hour we spent together, us talking, her taking care of me. It was just so domestic, so far from the violence and horror of the military. I've never pictured myself involved in anything besides the SAS, let alone romance.
Fucking hell, this girl has me wrapped around her finger.
And she doesn't even know it.
Because i'm a cold, composed soldier.
Romance and feelings have no place in my heart.
Well... maybe just for Y/N they do.
My thoughts are shaken by Price giving orders.
"A pilot just radioed, there's enemy choppers on his radar, it's not safe for us all to stick together. Gaz, Ghost, and I will walk east. Soap and Y/N to the north. Keep your eyes peeled for combatants in the area. Remember the goal, find the store of hidden weapons."
A chorus of 'copies' and 'affirmatives' ring through the air. Everyone is calm, but I feel distressed.
Y/N and I are in opposite groups.
How will I protect her?
What if something happens to her?
She'll be with Soap... she should be fine, right?
She'll be with soap.
Alone. Just him and her. In the woods. On a mission.
Jealousy corrupts my mind.
She's not into him... is she?
I take a breath, thankful once again for the mask to hide my pissed expression as our groups spread apart. I resist taking one last glance at Y/N as she walks in the other direction with Soap. I still have to maintain my reserved image. No one can know about this little... crush.
The word makes me feel the need to wash my mouth out.
Crush
It just sounds so unlike me, so soft and boyish. I am a soldier, a big, tough killing machine.
"What's on your mind, Ghost?" Gaz quizzes.
"Ah...um...nothing," I lie.
"Bullshit, you took a day off last week for the first time EVER, and you've been way quieter than normal ever since."
"M' just recovering, bad flu I guess" I say sheepishly.
Gaz sighs. "The Simon Riley I know doesn't take time for recovery, unless hes been SHOT" Gaz rebuttles.
I stay silent.
"I think you've got Y/N on the brain," Gaz says quieter, so the captain wouldn't here us discussing my crush on his daughter.
"What the hell Gaz, that's ludicrous," I try to defend myself.
Gaz continues to talk about my supposed crush on Y/N, I do all I can to deny it, until finally, I give in.
"Okay! Okay! yeah, fine. I'm interested in her." I say quiet enough to not capture the attention of Price, who walks ahead, blissfully unaware of the fact that we are discussing his myself as a possible love interest for his daughter.
Gaz smirks "We all know, by the way."
"Everyone!? even price?"
"Oh hell no, not price. He'd skin you alive."
"I don't blame him, i'm older than Y/N, I look kinda... edgy. I'm not the guy you want around your daughter."
"Hey, maybe he'll come around. He knows you already, you're a protector, a provider. I think that's exactly the kind of guy you want your daughter to date," Gaz tries to reassure me.
"Eh... maybe your right"
"You've just got to ask her out first."
Fuck.
I forgot about that.
*TIMESKIP*
Hours later, we continue to trudge through the woods. Our radios begin to crackle.
Soap's voice comes through the communication device.
"Weapons secured. Send your coordinates, we've radioed for an exfil."
The three of us sigh in relief.
"Alright, were out of here boys." Price says with a smile.
The helicopter touches down in the distance, we jog over to it and hop into the cab. As I hop inside, Y/N offers me a kind smile and moves to sit next to me. I feel my face heat up, thankfully covered by my mask. Soap wiggles his eyebrows at me and gestures towards Y/N while making kissy faces.
Ugh.
but then I look over at her, taking in her (hair color) hair as she gazes at the woods below us. It looks so soft and silky, well maintained and clean. A rarity in the military.
Fucking hell, i've fallen hard.

Reader pov:
With a heavy heart and a broken pride, you trudge into the training room the next morning, Ghost's dissatisfaction still at the front of your brain. You don't look forward to whatever the Lieutenant has planned for today. Images of strenuous exercise and many reps flood your brain. Ghosts booming voice fills your ears as you are seemingly transported to the world of his training.
"Again," you picture him saying to you as you struggle to stand in your daydream.
"Again"
"Again"
You picture yourself going at it again and again, with no mercy from your masked superior.
"Again," he says in that deep, Manchester accent.
his command replays in your mind, you are focused less on picturing the training, and more on his voice.
His deep, sexy voice, you think to yourself
as soon as you process that thought your face turns crimson.
no,no,no, don't think of him like that. You remind yourself.
Thankfully, you are pulled out of your daydream by a voice.
"LT's sick, I don't think he's planning on training you today," the man said.
Ghost? Sick?
You contemplate this, ghost doesn't seem like the type who'd take a rest day, quite the opposite actually.
"Oh, okay, thank you sir," you respond, despite your misgivings about the situation.
You leave the training room in search of Gaz or Soap, surely one of the two would know of ghosts whereabouts. You walk around the base, soldiers mill about the space, you walk down each corridor, hoping to run into either of them. You check the time, it is noon. You decide to walk towards the mess hall, It is open to soldiers from 11-1 for lunch, anyone is allowed to cook for themselves as long as hygienic policies are followed.
Just like you figured, Gaz is in the kitchen, humming to himself as he stirred a pot of something.
"Smells good," you say to announce your presence.
Gaz startles, "Y/N! I wasn't expecting you, what are you up to?"
"Oh, well I was just planning on taking some soup to LT, I heard he caught something."
"Ghost is sick?" Gaz says, surprised.
You nod your head affirmatively.
Gaz takes a step back to collect himself, "jeez, the big guy hasn't taken a day off outside of our designated leave since... since i've known him."
"I figured he'd be like that."
"Well it's real nice of you to make him some soup, he won't show it but i'm sure he'll appreciate it." "Anyway, can I see that recipe your going to use?" Gaz asks.
"I was just planning on using a can, something from the pantry," You said sheepishly.
"CANNED!?" Gaz puts his hand on his heart, doubling over jokingly.
"Seriously kid, you can't just bring your crush canned soup, plus anything in that pantry is probably spoiled." he says, wiggling his eyebrows teasingly.
"Alright then, I can figure something out." You say, Ignoring the use of the word crush
Gaz leaves shortly after and you are alone in the kitchen, you quickly find yourself in your element as you chop vegetables and bring the broth to a boil. A delicious, homey scent fills the kitchen, masking the smells of the military. Many people pop their heads in to see where the smells are coming from, offering you kind smiles and compliments. You are taken back to your teenage years, coming home after a long day of school and practice. Your father wasn't home yet, either deployed or still at the base for the day. You enjoyed the alone time, you found cooking to be fun. Eating the end product was especially nice. You remembered how Price's face would light up with pride when he came home to see his daughter cooking. He was so happy that you were growing up to be a responsible young woman, and an exceptional cook.
The timer goes off and you are taken back to the present. You take the pot off of the heat and pour it into a container. You take a plastic spoon and place it on top. On the way to Ghost's quarters you feel a bit nervous. Ghost has been extra bitter the past few days, what if he treats you worse because he's sick?
Ghost pov:
I lay in my bed and stare up at the ceiling, I feel like hell and my nose is stuffed. My throat is raw as well. I would have gone to work today, I always do no matter how awful I feel. But I can't face Y/N. Especially now that I have these feelings for her that I have yet to figure out. This is bad, really bad. It's gone from more than a need to protect her as a mentor, but as a need to make her mine. A need to hug her, to protect her, to tell her that everything is going to be okay. I just want to take her out on a date, be a real gentleman, treat her like a princess. I need to let all of these men that eye her up in the gym to know that she's with me. I just need her to be mine.
A blush creeps up my face and I almost smile at the thought of her, but I am Ghost. I am the stone cold lieutenant that everyone is afraid of. I'm not the guy who has a girlfriend. I'm not the guy who shows his soft side to anyone.
Y/N is Captain Price's daughter, if the relationship is even allowed within the SAS, I'm sure he himself wouldn't allow it.
I roll over and sigh, the blissful feeling of one of my nostrils opening up comes to me, I breathe air without sniffling for a few moments.
Knock, knock
Who could be at the door? I think to myself
"Come in," I muster, my voice hoarse.
The door opens and Y/N steps inside.
I turn cold and unwelcoming, "Why are you here?"
"I-I I uh... heard y-you were sick... I made you soup," She holds up a container and a spoon.
My expression softens, who could be mean to her now?
"You made this... for me?" I say in disbelief.
"Yes, sir" she responds, the nervous tone still present in her voice.
"But I train you so hard... I work you until you can barely stand up, you should hate me," I say, my stoic shield faltering slightly.
"I know you don't mean to be so rude, and I don't hate you. Its been less than a month and i'm already a much better soldier than when I arrived. I appreciate how hard you push me," She says warmly.
I drink in her presence before I respond, she looks so pretty even in uniform. I can see how pure she is now, not an ounce of meanness in her body. The way she makes my day with just a container full of soup makes her seem so domestic, It almost makes me forget that she's a soldier like me
"Thank you Y/N, I mean it," I say sincerely as she hands me the container.
I take the top off of the container, I catch a whiff of the hot meal, chicken noodle soup. I bring a spoonful up to my lips, I savor the flavors as the liquid seems to be an instant cure for my sore throat.
"Holy shit, this is delicious."
"Thank you," she replies, as if she's used to compliments like that.
"Where did you learn your skills, I imagine your mother is as good of a cook as you are," I tell her.
Wait, shit
Isn't her mother... Price's Ex Wife?
"Wait, I'm sorry... I totally forgot," I try to explain myself.
"it's fine, I really don't remember, I was really young."
I still remember the day I found out about Price's love life. I was a mere recruit, but I knew when to keep my mouth shut. One of my fellow peers, who eventually washed out before the end of basic training, did not. Price was in the middle of a lecture, when his then teenage daughter, who I know know to be Y/N called him. I don't remember what for, but I remember the asshole recruit saying something along the lines of 'Can't your wife do that?' this earned him about 50 pushups while another officer told us the story while price took the phone call.
Y/N and I didn't talk while I devorered the soup, I wondered why she didn't leave, she sat on a chair next to my bed. I decided to break the awkward silence.
"Whats the captain like outside of the military?"
For the next half hour, Y/N and I share funny stories at Price's expense.
If this is what being with her would be like, maybe this crush isn't so bad...
