I'm pretty sure that there was an interview or something for folklore where Taylor explicitly thanked Blake and Ryan for letting her live at their place in Bedford for a while so it's more than just a deduction that Taylor was hanging out for awhile in Bedford only a couple of minutes away from the place in Bedford where Karlie was living, I'm pretty sure it's a fact that the majority of Taylor's fandom decided to memory-hole because it makes them super uncomfortable and these days most of them would rather insist that Taylor was living in England and only in England for the entire pandemic, and so Taylor decided to weaponize her buddy Matty against her fans since they wanted to revise her life history so badly that they incidently made him her neighbor in the narrative they're trying to overwrite the past with 🙈

it’s just so funny that fortnight uses the neighbors language, when the period of time—a string of fortnights lost in america as it were—this period of time, where they were literally publicly neighbors in at least three separate locations (if we are to assume songs like florida! suggest that taylor spent some amount of memorable time in florida) connects you so clearly from an important point a to point b, and on top of that the themes are themingggggggg

sometimes i have gotten asks asking why kaylors don’t have a contemporary timeline for kaylor and i think that’s a point of critique but honestly if you were to go and write one i just think the main beats are too blatant for our liking. because it shouldn’t be spelled out. because of the topics at hand. it should be as plausibly deniable as possible. this isn’t something to like, spill out for free to people who statistically harbor such ill will. like lmfao i don’t care if people say oh this is a bad argument weak debate tactics you’re being cagey this isn’t organized well you all don’t have a leg to stand on etc etc

The thing about people just now realizing Karlie moved to Florida after folklore (she didn’t really, they just got a second home there that is about as lived in as the one in NY, but you know what I mean) is that this is the direct consequence of Gaylors just deciding to stop talking about Karlie and then no one knew what she’s been up too so they don’t see all the stuff kaylors see that helps us still believe. Like if they pretend Karlie doesn’t exist, then they can pretend Taylor is not totally still singing love songs about her and it’ll all just go away because it makes them uncomfortable that Taylor is in love with someone that they hate.

It has always baffled me when straight cisgendered men say they don’t like going down on a woman because I’m over here like “please let me go down on you that’s all I want to do” like I’ve had straight cismen tell me it’s because of the smell or taste and I’m like “are you sure you’re straight because you’re sounding very gay right now for not liking the taste and smell.” Like if you don’t like that part what do you like about women?! I’m so sorry anon, but I personally find it really funny when people hear the songs where taylor is working through her feelings of being betrayed by Scott B and attribute them to karlie instead.

It’s like finding a man holding a gun standing over a dead body and saying, hang on a minute… what if the real murderer is the victim’s gf… because two of her friends liked a gossipy tweet written by a known shit-stirrer!

that is to say, we know for a fact that taylor felt deeply betrayed by scott b, seeing as he’s verifiably the actual person who sold her masters to scooter, after treating taylor like family since she was very young. it’s pretty self-evident he deserves the level of vitriol in the smallest man who ever lived (besides the other descriptive details that link him to tsmwel, mtr etc).

as for taylor and karlie suddenly never being seen together again (seemingly drifting apart a whole year before the heist even happened, remember?), well she hasn’t spoken on that, so naturally we read between the lines in the songs to find out. some people have taken the masters heist songs to be about karlie, and ran with that. but others see karlie and taylor’s retreat into privacy reflected in songs under the ‘love blackout’ theme (especially around here, you’re on a longtime kaylor blog 🙈)

love blackout = the hints taylor has put out again and again that she intentionally distanced her public image from karlie’s because it was too dangerous to carry on as openly as they had at first. 2016 election sadness themes, secret love themes, all consistent over the years. all while writing new love songs that use callbacks to the rep muse, to yail even 🥺. as if taylor’s been using all the confusion and her masterful quill of misdirection to achieve her priority of protecting karlie. not protecting karlie’s public image and clout with swifties, which she doesn’t need to maintain her success because she was always successful in her own right! no, it’s all for Karlie The Person in their secret bubble of reality. all this showmanship, you know. the great war, hello!!!! too many songs to name where the kaylor chandelier is safely out of sight, but you can still see flickers through the boarded up windows ❣️

so forgive me for having a chuckle. to any anons who sincerely🛸want to believe, I’m just throwing it out there that there are plenty of us that never found the karlie-betrayer theory convincing at all. if you take a closer look at everything, the timeline of events and all the songs since, does it really make sense? i think a lot of people are predisposed to blaming karlie and so everything becomes a sort of confirmation bias.. which partially, i would argue, was by design.. so in a sense i do not fault gaylors or others for falling into this hole. but i do sometimes feel like faulting them a tiny bit for those who never climb out of it. there’s plenty of information and clues needed to figure it out and climb out of it.

one thing i don’t like about the whole “let’s not talk about muses” discourse is while the spirit of it is supposed to be “let’s study why these songs sound gay instead of commenting taylor lyrics on these people’s instagram pages,” in practice the phrasing almost is like giving yourself permission to pass judgement on the people in taylor’s story and then never reevaluate them. people often say ~lets not talk muses that’s invasive and gross~ and conveniently refuse to adjust their perception of karlie (for example) based on what taylor is putting out there, while making convenient exceptions for any interpretation they find that works to reinforce their already negative perception of her. and then after bitching about her they’ll cover their timeline in lisa frank dolphins because apparently that’s what paradise is. i dunno. it all feels dystopian to me atp 😆

Oh my god I just fucking noticed Karlie is shown here watching Taylor with that big ass proud smile of hers. I never noticed it and now I’m so confused on 1. Why the IMBD doesn’t show that Karlie is there. 2. When the IMBD changed a few months ago it showed Karlie but only having her voice being in the movie and not her in the footage and then they changed it to where she doesn’t show up in the cast anymore.

I feel insane because I thought she wasn’t in it at all but here I am now realizing she is.

At the 3:14 timestamp in dorothea, there's a voice that sounds like Karlie's saying "Yeah, I'm here" quietly in the background vocals, which is particularly amusing/interesting because the area code for St. Louis is 314. Also, the name of Karlie's grandfather Bernard's mother was Ella Dorthea. And funnily enough, Tupelo is where that photoshoot that Karlie kissed Emrata for happened. So dorothea's similarities to The Prophecy are really interesting and is something that should probably be pondered upon

thinking about this, thinking about how often she was probably advised to stay closeted for her own good, for the good of her career, for the good of the people around her, and how it was framed as a supportive piece of advice even though it wasn’t. It wasn’t to safeguard her at all, it was to keep her caged, chained, contained. Imprisoning her in a jail cell of her own making. And then I’m thinking about this,

Thinking about how all she wants is to be the one who gets to decide if her name, her reputation, gets ruined, because it’s her name and her choice, no one else’s, even the people who care about her. Thinking about the double meaning of vipers in empath’s clothing, thinking about how it means her fans and the tabloids and how everyone always has to have An Opinion disguised as them simply caring about her, but also how it means the people in her life who urged her to stay closeted for their own benefit, the ones who came to her and said no, I’m doing this because I care about you, don’t you care about me? most of the time i'm calmed down but the thing is that . the thing is that. the thing is that betty dorthea and august girl are Girls and they are Shes while james has a name that is mentioned once and the narrator of dorothea doesn't even have that. and it's like. idk i just don't think you Accidentally write songs that are full of she and her while talking about the girls and then just Accidentally leave out any indicator of the other person's gender other than a traditionally masculine name specifically taken. from a girl. like. it's just. the space. like it feels like SMART intentional writing AND this need to hide these feelings just fits WELL with the themes of folklore! of regret over losing a love, confusing feelings you couldn't verbalize when you were younger, constantly wondering about the road not taken. One of my favorite things I learned about gaylor lore is the Babe music video and how it’s almost a screen by screen copy of Sam Smiths You’re Not The Only One music video, the music videos being the same amount of time. It’s even better because the wife in Sam’s video is played by Taylor’s rumored ex girlfriend getting cheated on and with Babe being about someone cheating on her is insane. I think it’s interesting in the Babe music video Taylor plays “the other woman” who cheats with the married man.

Also love that it’s public knowledge that Taylor was the one who had the idea for the music video. She had the whole thing planned out.
