i’m doing an increasing amount of research on odysseus and one of my favourite things so far is that in the iliad while all the other warriors identify themselves as their father’s sons (the atrides, diomedes and his dad, priam’s sons etc etc.) odysseus is always identifying himself as telemachus’ father.

yes, he never got to hear his first word or see his first steps, but he is still his son’s father and he is proud of him and that is all that matters
