He’s rather brash and not really used to caring for another person’s feelings like this, so at first he goes back and forth between too cold and too forward

Very dedicated to you though, and a little possessive, so he doesn’t like to leave you alone for long if you’re somewhere other guys might hit on you

Always makes excuses to touch you somehow in public, like drawing you close under his arm to mark you as taken

Teases you so much it’s almost like having an annoying sibling sometimes; he gives you a hard time for being too serious, then for being too naive or carefree. He just really enjoys your honest reactions and finds them very endearing

Other people teasing you is definitely not okay, however. It’s a familiar back-and-forth only he’s allowed to have with you

As often as he exasperates you by saying the wrong thing, if he found out anyone else was picking on you, he’d get very riled up on your behalf. Saburo leans toward overprotective when it comes to you and your reputation

He’s not the best at sweet talk or tenderness, but he’s always been unafraid of confronting problematic people and situations for you. Taking care of them so you don’t have to is one of the main ways he shows affection

C = Cuddles (Do they like to cuddle? How would they cuddle?)

At the end of a long day, he really loves a good cuddle from you, although sex is usually the first priority

Other people’s bullshit makes him feel like he’s going crazy sometimes. Coming home to you after all that is like a mental reset that wipes away that day’s pent-up frustration

He doesn’t have much to say during that time together, a nice change of pace from the way he normally runs his smart mouth

Doesn’t like to ask for it or admit it, but sometimes he really needs a long hug while you tell him everything’s going to work out. You learn to initiate those and to tell when he needs one from that stormy look he gets

It makes him grumble whenever you point it out, but he really really loves the feeling of your fingers combing through his hair from his nape to the top of his head

G = Gentle (How gentle are they, both physically and emotionally?)

Gentleness is not this man’s forte

Saburo tends to be really blunt with his words. Most of the time he really doesn’t mean to offend or upset you, but he manages it pretty often, out of pure tactlessness

Seeing your face fall at something he said makes him feel like an absolute ass. He’ll inwardly kick himself, but he’s usually too proud to actually admit his mistake. So instead he’ll click his tongue at you for being so sensitive when obviously he was joking

Still, he swears to himself that he’ll try harder next time to think before he speaks

He’s basically a complete novice when it comes to being a gentleman toward a girl he really likes. You make him nervous, a feeling he hates; in the early days especially, his nerves usually make him blurt out rude things to try and seem like he’s not so affected by you

Physically, he’s a little grabby when he wants you

He doesn’t get the concept of boundaries at first. You firmly set him straight, informing him that while you very much enjoy how much he appreciates your assets, appreciating them that openly in public is not something you enjoy

Alone with you, he can be surprisingly hesitant when there’s no one else around to try and act cool for

His feelings for you also make his confidence falter a bit; when it’s just one-on-one, he feels like you have the upper hand over him much more than he was expecting

It unintentionally slows him down and makes him gentler. Whether it’s younger-sibling-insecurity or just his personality, he always wants to put out the impression that he has it together around you, even when you’re making his heart race

M = Morning (How are mornings spent with them?)

For all of his devil-may-care attitude, Saburo’s surprisingly dedicated to his work

If he has things to do early in the morning, you sometimes wake up to find he’s already dressed and out the door. He’s by no means a morning person, but he’s tough when it comes to biting the bullet and leaving those warm covers

Unless he’s nursing a particularly bad hangover, he’s not usually one to linger in bed even on days off–until he starts sharing a bed with you

He starts looking forward to waking up early, because in those quiet moments while you’re still asleep, he gets a chance to watch your peaceful face and feel some tender things toward you without anyone else around to notice, especially you

On the rare mornings when you’re first awake, you often find he’s curled up close to you with an arm draped over your middle

It’s adorable, because so often he complains you steal the covers or your hair gets in his face when he’s trying to go to sleep, so you respect his boundaries and give him some space at night. Yet without fail, he seems to gravitate right up next to your shoulders once he’s asleep

Sano-

He’s extremely perceptive; knows you’re having a bad day before you do

Notices you going too hard at your work with a frustrated wrinkle in your brow, leans in with a hand on your back to ask what’s up?

Whether you’re stressed out or feeling down, he’ll want to give you a break and take you out somewhere for a while to let you clear your head

Probably takes you to a pretty and relaxing place, like a meadow or riverbank

He’s the best listener. Will sit and hear you out as you spill your problems

Also takes you seriously when you’re like this; he really doesn’t like to see you so upset and will want to know how he can help

Would love to be the person who can comfort you on a day like this, but he’s unselfish when it comes to your needs. Might offer to walk you to a friend’s house if there’s someone else who could cheer you up better right now

Just his presence is really comforting. At home he’ll give you cuddles and kisses if you need them, or an absolutely amazing back-and-shoulder massage. His hands can work magic

If you’re down enough to shed a few tears, there wouldn’t be any escaping him. He’d hug you and let you get it all out without rushing you

If what you really need is a stiff drink? Well, he is totally on board with that too. Won’t hesitate to take you out to one of his favorite haunts, or bring out his good stash that he keeps in his room to share

He’d definitely keep an eye on you to make sure you didn’t overdo it while drowning your sorrows, and will give you plenty of water before he tucks you in for bed

If bad days become a recurring thing because of a heavy work load at your job, for example, he’d probably go on his own to have a serious chat with your boss or coworkers. Can be quite intimidating when it comes to people he cares about

He’d keep it quiet from you, knowing it would probably embarrass you, but you’d notice changes in the weeks following that would make you suspect he intervened on your behalf

Souji-

Tries to take your mind off things first by teasing or trying to get your attention

Once he can tell you’re genuinely upset and not in the mood, though, he’ll turn serious

Probably will ask some pointed questions about who did what to put you in this mood. It comes off mildly threatening; he’s really protective of you and will want to personally deal with whoever bothered you

It actually helps lighten your mood for a moment, because the mental image of him marching up to Hijikata with his hand on his sword for giving you too much work is just so on-point

He goes borderline silent if you’re crying or on the verge of tears. It upsets him deeply, but he also doesn’t have a playbook for how to comfort you when you’re like this

He’d probably insist on holding you even when you were a total mess. Wouldn’t know what to say, but absolutely wouldn’t want to let you go when you’re so sad

If you were stressed from overwork, he’d talk you into taking a nap and would wrap you up next to him while you drifted off together

Grumpiness rolls right off him. If your bad mood was giving you a temper, he might coax you into an argument with him just to trick you into shouting out your problems

Once you yelled yourself hoarse, he’d let you rest in his lap to recharge

Souji knows what it’s like to feel angry at the world in general and won’t judge you for it at all

He can take most of your mood swings in stride, even sadness, as long as you don’t clam up or avoid him. He doesn’t care if you get really prickly as long as you let him in on what’s bothering you

Hachiro-

Cancels both of your plans for the rest of the day

He’s used to dealing with stress in his line of work, so right away he’ll have lots of ideas for how to help you feel better

Makes a great cuddle partner if you just need to be held for reassurance

He’s very unphased by tears, although they do tug at his heartstrings, so he’ll encourage you to just let it out if you need to

He’s got a diplomatic nature, but if someone really upset you, he wouldn’t hesitate to talk some trash

Has a little bit of a smart mouth when you’re alone together. If you need to vent about someone who’s driving you crazy, he’ll definitely lob a few zingers at their expense

If you’re anxious because you need to confront someone at work or something similar, he’ll try to gently encourage you to face the problem. He’s used to dealing with all kinds of people as a public figure, so he’ll help you practice what to say and give some tips

Hachiro is also a big believer in creature comforts, so after a while you’ll probably get presented with a selection of your favorite foods and activities. Basically anything he suspects might help you in any way

He’ll be very gentle with you if he can tell you just feel shitty. Tea and snacks in bed, quiet cuddles, some soothing back rubs to help you fall asleep

Back from weekend hiatus!

  Someone get me some ochimizu...because I feel like I’m dying 😭

  So first off! Sorry to disappear for a few days! Last weekend I had some unexpected travel plans sprung on me. In addition, the past two weeks I’ve felt super low energy and fatigued all the time...like all. the. time. It’s pretty bad. I’ve got a couple underlying health problems that probably aren’t helping, but it’s kind of blindsided me and made it super hard to work on my writing projects recently. So if you’ve noticed a slowdown in my posts, that’s why!

  Basically uhhhhh the brain no doing the words good at moment. I still feel really excited about writing HCs, and I still want to write, but my body and mind are just not cooperating right now. So I’ll probably take things slower for a while until I can see a doctor or start feeling better!

  Thanks everyone for your continued patience and support, especially people waiting on requests. All of you dudes are phenomenal! I’ll just be here in bed scrolling through your excellent content 😎💙

hello! i saw in your masterlist that'll be some rules for the request, which are the rules?

Hey anon! I’ve been thinking about this a lot as I’ve gotten more requests, and I’m really glad you asked. 

First off my HC masterlist here has some bulleted subjects/scenarios that I definitely do not write, so there are those. Lemony or mature/explicit requests are very welcome and so are AU requests. I intentionally left myself some wiggle room with the rest of my limits, just because there’s a lot out there that I haven’t tried to write and won’t know whether I can until someone requests it. If a specific theme turns up as a hard limit for me, it’ll get added to the masterlist.

As a general rule I reserve the right to decline any request based on either subject matter that I’m not comfortable with, or a scenario that’s I don’t think I can pull off. Readers won’t have a good time if the writer is uncomfortable. :) There have only been a couple requests I had to turn down, and I enjoy writing odd or mildly kinky stuff for the most part. However, I prefer to put out content that most of my followers will enjoy reading. So if it’s something that’s really out there, I may have to turn it down or ask that you send me something a little different. I know it probably seems like a roundabout way of doing things, and I apologize for that. But it’s the best way I’ve found as a writer to stay open-minded to new subjects until something definitely turns up as a hard limit for me.

I don’t like to decline people directly, i.e. by answering their question publicly with a no, even anons. It might not be something I want to write, but I don’t like to call anyone out in any way or shame anyone’s private preferences because You Do You. So if I’m declining a headcanon request, I’ll make a separate text post about it, add a limit to my masterlist, and hope that whoever sent it in will see that on my tumblr.

I’ll try my best to write for vague or general scenarios, but in general, the more detailed the request the better. It helps me get requests completed faster, and helps you as the requester get something closer to what you wanted! Same goes for requesting HCs for multiple characters. Those are absolutely welcome, but single-character requests are always easier for me to finish in a timely way.

Finally, I’m currently not requesting fic or oneshot requests. That might change in the future, but for now, I’m sticking with good ol’ headcanons!

Thanks so much @inquisitorwinchester! This is such a fun request!! I’ve been wanting to write some HCs about this for a while now--we can’t all be Chizuru-sized (love u babe but damn girl u tiny) So here we go, for a random handful of the romanceable guys:

Toshi-

Will be really attracted to the confident way you carry yourself because of your height

If you’re also the type to be independent and do things for yourself, that combination would make him pretty weak

Finds it harder to boss you around when you can stare him down from the same level, which is quite enjoyable for you to watch him come to grips with

He’s usually pretty hands-off and professional with you in public, but will slip an arm around your waist now and then since you’re the perfect height for it

Sanosuke-

It’s definitely all an adjustment at first. He’s used to dating women who are at least a head shorter

Will realize his signature head-pat move doesn’t work as well when the girl’s almost at eye level

Kissing is finally comfortable for him though; he doesn’t have to bend down super far to reach you, which is sort of amazing and a new feeling for him

He’s very much a leg man, so even on a superficial level he certainly could appreciate being with a tall woman

You two also bond over being above average height for your respective genders, swapping stories about the difficulties of finding clothes that fit right and being expected to do the tall-person chores

He loves the thought of settling down with you and imagines with pride how tall all your kids will be

Shinpachi-

It really throws him off in the beginning

He used to think he didn’t really have a type, until he fell for you and realized he’d always gone for petite girls in the past

It makes him uneasy that you’re close to his level, because it means he can’t hide his expression as easily when he gets nervous or embarrassed around you

Still, he really enjoys that you’re tall enough to be a physical match for him

He’s super proud of his physique but tends to be overly conscious of the size difference between him and most girls, not wanting to come on literally too strong with anything

The fact that you’re taller lets him hold back less when you’re kissing or fooling around

Hajime-

He’s not a tall guy, so he’ll be fairly used to running into women who are near his height

Will appreciate that it puts you at perfect hand-holding levels with each other

Sometimes leans his head on your shoulder when he’s tired or feeling affectionate

Might seriously suggest on more than one occasion that you should consider taking up some kind of martial arts or kendo training, since you have a good build for it

It’s the highest of compliments coming from him

Keisuke-

It’s not really something that’s on his radar

He’ll definitely take note of how tall you are, but he won’t treat you differently or feel a certain way toward you because of it

Does like that you can sit and talk to each other eye-to-eye; it’s a little thing, but it makes him happy

Will sometimes ask you to fetch things for him from high-up places and then chuckle to himself at his own dorky joke

Souji-

He’s more into it than he wants to own up to

It’s part of why he gives you such a hard time about that particular feature of yours, poking some fun at your long arms and legs

When you’ve got him at your mercy with enough kisses and affection, he’ll reluctantly admit that it’s not so bad

Likes the way your bodies line up easily during cuddles and sex

Has a running joke that he misses seeing the top of your head and will sometimes pull you down with an arm around your shoulder so he can put a kiss there

Heisuke-

He’d be lying if he said he was 100% secure with his size. But he’s basically come to terms with it by now, thanks to many years of maturing and personal growth

Realizing he has feelings for a girl who’s taller than him might undo that a bit

Inwardly will curse his luck

At first, things like you putting your arm around his shoulders instead of the other way around will make him really chagrined, though he’ll do his best to keep it together in front of you and especially the other captains

He’ll definitely feel a need to prove his manliness to you, even more so than usual

Heisuke’s already the first one to dive into a dangerous situation, but once you’re together it reaches a whole new level

It’s not just recklessness on his part. He’s used to being underestimated by other guys, and part of him will wonder whether you have the opposite problem--that people assume you can take care of yourself because you’re tall and imposing for a girl

He definitely won’t make the same assumptions and in fact will work even harder to protect you, to show how much he cares for you

Susumu-

Thinks it’s pretty hot actually

Like Toshi, he appreciates how confident and self-assured you come off as because of your height

He’s mature enough that it wouldn’t really bother him if you were slightly taller than he is, except in the moments when he’d have to lean up a bit to kiss you

Really into your long legs, and though he’s shy about admitting it out loud, it’s super obvious to you

He’s also a fast walker and used to getting places efficiently when he’s on duty, so the fact that you can keep up with his pace without even trying is a nice bonus

  Thank you so much dude, that’s really kind of you to say!! Good question. Currently I don’t accept requests for Kazama or Ryouma, since I haven’t finished their KW/EB routes, so I feel like I don’t know them very well yet. 

  Also kinda holding off on Shiranui requests atm? I didn’t realize until recently how much characterization he gets in Ryouma’s route. So because of that I have a couple Kyo requests waiting in my inbox, and to those people, I haven’t forgotten about you! Just want to make sure I do our boy justice. 😭

  Besides Kazama and Ryouma and anyone who features prominently in their routes like Shiranui, I’ll try to write for pretty much anyone! Have done some for Kiku, some for guys like Miki and Nomura, have a Takeda request on my to-do list that I am 👌 hella pumped to get to.

Hello! Do you think that Heisuke is kinda jealous of Saito for being much more mature than him even though they’re the same age?

  Firing off a quick answer to this because it’s a continuation of this morning’s! The short answer for me would be: not really.

  Long answer: Heisuke’s used to comparing himself and his actions to all the other captains, just because that’s how he goes about figuring out life. If anything he compares himself to Sano and Shin more because they’re all closer friends. They’re also a good five years or so older than him, and while he respects them both deep down, he’s also seen the ridiculous stuff they get up to off-duty. So he knows you don’t have to take yourself seriously all the time to be a formidable warrior.

  He meets Hajime later on and definitely respects the way he carries himself, but he doesn’t feel like they have a ton in common. Heisuke’s naturally a really passionate person and doesn’t see that as immaturity. He reacts emotionally to things, but that’s also where a lot of his drive to fight and improve himself comes from.

  Heisuke’s also gotten used to sticking up for himself over the years, mostly because of his small size. He gets constant teasing even from his friends, so he’s had to muster a lot of fortitude and inner confidence in himself in order to continue down this path. So he’s interested to meet and befriend someone like Hajime who’s so different to the rest of his friends. Heisuke definitely is impressed by him and might assume he’s older by how serious and quiet he is, but he won’t be too jealous when he finds out they’re the same age. More surprised and intrigued. 

  If anything, Heisuke might try to get more friendly with Hajime after learning they’re the same age. He’s got a really companionable spirit and doesn’t get envious easily. Whether it’s his optimism or something else, Heisuke sees the new guy as just another comrade he wants to befriend, although Sano and Shin might think he’s a bit of a wet blanket. So Hajime might be bemused to find himself suddenly invited along to the baka trio’s drinking outings!
