I Was So Very Wrong.
So I haven’t watched D Gray Man since maybe early 2019, but probably more around mid-2018 tbh.
Because of that, the only thing I did remember was Hallow’s art style being “better” in my weird-ass bigoted mind.
(I can probably appreciate almost all art styles out there and even those I don’t like are still just as great to other people.)
So I rewatched a few episodes from Hallow today and then watched a video comp of Tyki and then more shit cause why not, you know?
And really, I began to notice that Hallow was WAY more dramatic and detailed. It was more focused on dynamic and movement and fluid animation and detail and it had different colours for everything really.
The biggest difference my mind noticed is that before Hallow, DGM was a lot more creepy.

Road in fucking general, good god.
Here’s the best example I can give you of a lot of the creepy scenes because there is A LOT.

And no, I’m not saying that Hallow isn’t creepy.
It is.
Those angel nightmare bitches scare the crap out of me.
The story itself will always hold a bit of creepiness to it. I mean, there’re a lot of dark themes in this story.
That’s just how D Gray Man is.
But before Hallow, the colours and the style and the angles...everything was different for me.
This post isn’t me saying that Hallow isn’t scary enough.
I FUCKING LOVE HALLOW.
This post is really me just typing an explanation to myself why everything before Hallow is great too and just because I like Hallow’s art better does not mean that I get to like Hallow better because they’re both fucking awesome.
Thanks for coming to my impromptu unedited TedTalk.

Alright, you grey assholes, listen up.
After having not been invested in the DGM fandom for almost a year, I decided that today was the day to reopen that wonderful can of gummy worms.
I was watching a video compilation of every single scene Tyki’s in throughout the entire anime, or so it advertises, when I noticed something absolutely hilarious that cannot be an accident.
(There’s no way I’m the first to see it, though.)
In one scene, Tyki helps with Road’s homework and fills out every answer with the number 12, his Noah number.
She gets mad and he says something along the lines of, “Well, it was 12, wasn’t it?”
A little bit later the Millenium Earl does Road’s homework this time and you can see as he closes the book on the page Tyki helped with, saying that he’s almost done.
And, yeah, maybe he hadn’t checked that page and it was wrong but also...

Oh My God, Tyki Was Right, It Was 12, 12 Is The New Holy Number.
