WAIT you said what Cora "ran away" What does it mean?

SO Basically from the time they were old enough to think for themself, Cora had an extremely independent personality. This first started to manifest in them wanting to take care of themself and considering their problems not worth bothering anyone over (see this fic I wrote if you want ). As they grew older and became more uncomfortable with their place in life (being the heir to Bright Moon along with being the Former Horde Commander, She-Ra, AND the Queen of Bright Moon’s kid has it’s pressures and Cora does not handle expectations well) they started to act out. 

First they would skip meals or tutoring sessions, then they started running away to friends or family’s homes (they spent a lot of time at Bow’s dads’ library and the former Freight Zone), and then they just ended up disappearing altogether one day.

Glitradora, at a loss with really how to deal with this bc they wanted to give Cora their freedom But they didn’t want their kid getting hurt, finally put their foot down when they found Cora a few days later. There was a big family row about it and everyone walked away hurt. It was a big sore subject and for almost a year the family was pretty torn over it.

Then, when they were about 15-16, Cora disappeared again. This time they’d done a lot better of a job covering their tracks and, though they had told 13-yr-old Nikala that they were leaving on purpose and that they would be back, Glitradora still searched endlessly for them to no avail.

It took three whole months for them to find their kid and when they did Cora had basically joined the circus and was in full blown training as a performer. When they all met again, they started to have another fight, but Cora had grown in their time away and they were a lot more ready to talk - They confessed to their parents what had been wrong. That they didn’t like the stuffy castle life, that they wanted to be normal and live with regular people (and with the new friends they’d made) and... they didn’t want to rule Bright Moon. Not now, not ever.

Glitradora looked at each other, and in that moment they all knew that Cora the person was a lot more important to them than Cora the ideal - Glimmer was the first one to step forward and say “Okay. Okay, but don’t leave us again.”

And then they all just bawled on each other. Cora did come back with them - if only to gather more of the stuff they’d left behind and say a proper goodbye to the rest of their family. And! From then on Cora has basically lived mostly on the road, coming back to Bright Moon every once in a while and staying there longer periods in the winter/off season. They have a slight connection to Swift Wind and he always knows when they’re missing home and need a ride ^^

It’s a rly good family life afterward and everyone was happier for figuring it all out, but yeah! Cora’s childhood was more than a bit rocky ahah

Do you think Nikala would ever have any repressed issues with Cora lowkey over what happned and being handed the throne? Especially as it would kinda push her into a thing of "I can't exactly be friends/have partners like Cora can" being seen as royalty more than them?

I don’t think so! Cora and Nikala have actually hashed this out many times and above anyone else Cora is the one constantly doing their best to make sure Nikala doesn’t push herself too hard. (old art repost)

Along with being siblings, they also consider themselves best friends, and even when apart they make sure to keep up :’) And!! Nikala does actually have a childhood friend turned girlfriend who helps keep her in line - I’ve never drawn her but she lives there in my head ahah

And bc I love ranting about my ocs - Even though Cora tries to distance themself from the throne, they’re still pretty easily recognized as She-Ra’s child. That is also added to the fact that the performing group Cora joins becomes rather famous in Etheria - Cora stepped away from the throne, but they definitely didn’t leave the spotlight ^^

Does Nikaila actually want the throne, or did Cora giving it up just leave her as the last heir with no real choice in the matter?

Well... Cora gave up the throne for sure when Nikala was so young (she was around 12-13 when Cora ‘ran away’) that even though her parents did make sure that she knew she also had a choice, I think she did grow up with the mindset that she really didn’t.

Plus there’s the fact that Nikala is very GOOD at being a Princess - She has a head for public relations and business and she enjoys burying herself in the comings and goings of Bright Moon life. It is something she genuinely enjoys!

At the end of it, I think she wouldn’t know how to really answer that question if asked, she’d just shrug and say “It is how it is.”

Nah, she likes them both!! All three moms like their kittens equally (though Nikala is a lot easier to deal with ahaha)

If it ever happens: how would Catra react to meeting her biological parent(s), like was she taken away from them as a kit? If so, I think the reunion would be something like a mix of how Alex reunited with his parents in Madagascar 2 and how Jewel reunite with her father in Rio 2. Like, Catra’s father aggressively asking Adora/Glimmer questions and Catra steps in between him and her wives; and Catra’s father see her Heterochromia eyes like the one his lost child had.

I actually hc that either Catra’s parents gave her up to the Horde or they were victims of it (so they’re dead). I dont rly like the idea of her having a family out there somewhere to scoop her up, because her personality is so steeped in being independent that I rly dont think she would want one. So if they showed up/tried to get her to recognize them, she’d probably scoff and growl and refuse to see them.

It would also probs make her abandonment issues rear their nasty head again bc she wouldn’t be able to stop herself from asking why hadn’t they come for her? Why hadn’t they tried harder to look? Why had they left her at the mercy of Shadow Weaver and the Horde if they had been alive and willing to look after her?

And idk if she would be able to find satisfactory enough answers to those questions to make her accept them. It would probably all just make her confused and angry :(

If you had to pick, whitch ship do you like best: Glimmadora, Glitra, or Catradora, and you can’t say Glitradora

(I already answered this once so i’m gonna basically just copy paste ahaha)

My dude all three of those ships offer such different things… 😩😩 I was always rooting for catradora as the most likely to be canon (and I was happy that they did get confirmed!) But all of them have such different dynamics, it’s like asking me to choose a favorite food between ice cream, coffee, or fried rice - they’re all things I love and they’re completely different!

Glimmadora I love for the soft strong foundation, finding each other across impossible lines and clicking unbelievably well. Teaching each other, learning each other, quiet support in battle and off of it, breaking apart only to snap back together stronger than before, knowing what it was that needed to be fixed and fixing it because it’s important. Safety, steady hands, silent, comforting touches.

Catradora I love for the knowing each other so much better than anyone else could, for having each other’s back thru anything, everything. For fooling yourself that love was hate and kicking and growling and screaming at each other until you burn too hot and finally melt - falling back into each other where you belong. Filling the holes that have been painfully empty and finally feeling like maybe you aren’t broken anymore.

And Glitra!! For parallels, for being so alike that you understand one another without ever having had a full conversation, for trust born of familiarity - not quite with each other, but with yourself. For fighting tooth and nail for everything you’ve ever had and discovering it’s kind of nice to have someone else who knows the feeling. For finding strength in your weakness and comfort in your vulnerability. Making mistakes, nearly giving up, then standing to fight again anyways.

I’m waxing poetic but like, the answer is that I can’t choose - I never can ahah.

Oh hey, any thought process behind how you came up with names for the ki(dd)tties? Just curious

My sister named Cora, but I usually just name them the first thing that comes to mind/fits! (thats how I name all my characters basically, it makes things simple)

So what would Nikala and Cora call each other in a sense that people would call their siblings either a brother or a sister? Do they just use the term sibling or do they have some made up word like broster?

Nikala uses sibling for Cora and Cora uses Sister for Nikala!

So if they’re all married, are Catra and Adora Queens too? Micah and Angella were King and Queen

Yes! Glimmer is the ultimate authority in the kingdom, but Catra and Adora get thrones and are Queens as well.

Though honestly I see them not really wanting the spotlight most of the time. Glimmer usually sits the throne on her own (or with Bow as her Chief Advisor) unless they need to present a unified front. Catra acts more as a regent to the non-magical, seeing the side of things the princesses dont get to see. She’s also kind of the Chief Spy in a way - shes really good at hunting out threats before they become a thing and finding out what is being said in the back halls so to speak (Melog helps with this.)

Adora is, of course, still She-Ra and she is known firstly for that! There is some dissonance between her job being a balance to the planet while also having specific ties to Bright Moon (some princesses raise a fuss when She-Ra is asked to oversee things - saying Adora will give first rights to Bright Moon/her wife, but they usually get past this using committee overseers instead). Adora worries over this a LOT (as she always does) and so she often leaves things to Glimmer (not wanting to look like she is throwing her weight around, plus people tend to talk to her over Glimmer bc she's She-Ra Which Pisses Her Off so thats another reason not to be there.)

For her part Glimmer wants them there, she loves them and values their opinions. But she also realizes Catra and Adora signed up more for her than for being Queens and if they don't want to perform all the royal rigamarole she isn't going to make them. Doesn't mean it isn't a slight sore spot sometimes though ;m;

Cora and Nikala are also royalty - both heirs to Bright Moon (before Cora waves their birthright, leaving it all to Nikala).

what do you think Glimmers reaction was when she first found out that Catra has toe beans?

She probably wouldnt mind at all xD Animal people seem very common all across Etheria and they certainly live in Bright Moon - Glimmer probably grew up around people with toe beans (or at least, definitely ones with Hooves). Feet are just feet.

youve mentioned that nikala felt like she would Die is not held when a baby, how did the moms figure that out/deal with it?

They found out bc she would cry whenever she wasn’t being held ;w; and they dealt with it by just holding her!! Baby slings were everything, but also with the three of them (and Bow and whichever friends happened to be around in Brightmoon helping) it wasn’t too much of a strain. Who wouldn’t wanna hold a cute kitten baby?

So two questions; where do you think Finn would fit into this au (if you would include them) and what is Nikala's orientation? I love our baby girl but we've only seen most info about her when she's a kitten and a kid

THANK YOU!! Finn would be younger than Nikala and Cora - I imagined the kids’ ages in that pic to be about 15 (Cora), 12 (Nikala), and around 6-7 (Finn) so that’s the separation! Tho i still dn if I’m gonna be including Finn ?? Tho it seems more like I might be jsjsj

Nikala is a cis lesbian but I figured she was a bit too young to be figuring that out very surely at 12 so I didn’t give her a pride flag outfit - but I have been told Nikala’s colors are very close to the lesbian flag as is so :p !! But yeah!! She gay!
