You know…. for all of Neelix is the moral officer, and post-Kes he really did try. And I do actually like him if I forget a lot of the things in the earlier seasons.
But honestly, I think the heart of Voyager was Tuvok.
It’s not obvious because he’s very Vulcan about it but he is everyone’s closest friend.
Tuvok is Janeway’s oldest and closest friend, Neelix and Tuvok are friends and when he’s unguarded Tuvok has a fondness for Neelix. He is close to Seven of Nine, and he tries his best to be mentor to Kes even though he knows its not his wheelhouse. He even tries to be a counselor to B’Elenna even though he knows he isn’t trained for it.
Who else was gonna step up, really? Chakotay’s idea of mental health is the spiritual thing which Voyager tried to do less because they uncovered their subject matter expert was a scam artist. Also Chakotay’s other go-to is to subject B’Elenna to some tough love even though she wasn’t ready for it. It only worked because B’Elenna made it work.
He played Kal Toh with Harry and tolerated Harry’s impromptu musical concerts on the Bridge during Night.
About the only one he wasn’t close to was Chakotay because for the most part Tuvok was playing the “I’m her bestfriend.” rivalry thing with Chakotay. Eventually, they did come to respect and work together especially when Janeway seems to run headlong into another death wish scenario.
Tuvok was even great helping Sam Wildman during the time they were all trapped in a shuttlecraft.
And… Tom. In terms of working relationships Tuvok is Ron Swanson and Tom Paris is Tom Haverford. Or they’re the two guys from Mythbusters. They work well enough but they are not really close nor best friends. (I think this is mostly because Paris keeps encouraging him to get together with other women when he is very very clear how he is committed and loved his own wife. And I love Paris, but c’mon, dude, stop doing that. Wingman Chakotay, instead).
Anyway, tldr, Tuvok is the beating heart of Voyager. He is the one with meaningful friendships with most of the main cast.
Hello everyone! To celebrate the year of Siskoshir, we plan to post a series of prompts throughout the year to inspire and encourage DS9 fans to create works dedicated to the Siskoshir ship. Whether your medium is fic, art, edits, essays, meta or gifs, everyone is welcome to join in and have fun creating some Siskoshir content.
We’re starting out with a simple prompt to get things going - create a piece that centres on an awkward workplace scenario involving Sisko and Bashir. You don’t have to make it romantic if that isn’t your cup of tea, but do remember to keep it focused on Sisko and/or Bashir. You’re more than welcome to include other characters in your creation, but try not to let them take too much of the spotlight! Beyond the prompt, the sky is the limit, so create to your heart’s content! We can’t wait to see what you create.
The deadline for creations using this prompt is February 25th, but of course we’ll welcome any creations posted after this date too. When you upload your creation, make sure to tag @siskoshir-central and use the #siskoshir2024 tag so we can see it! All posted creations will be collected in a round up post at the end of the month (including works not created using this prompt). If you have any questions, feel free to flick an ask to @siskoshir-central - we’ll be more than happy to help.
my favorite part about elementary is when sherlock starts to get out of control and joan just throws her hands up and just yells, “that’s it, go to the car!” or gives him money to the vending machine. and then you expect him to just brush it off and keep yelling, but then the scene cuts to him sulking by the car moodily or munching on a bag of cookies in the hallway dejectedly.
the reason we never see garak and bashir do sherlock holmes holodeck larping was that unlike geordi and data they both wanted to be holmes and they couldn't convince the other one to switch. garak would be like but you're a real doctor and bashir would be like yeah but i'm also a genius and garak would be like well i'm mysterious and aloof and a drug addict and bashir would be like well i'm taller. and it goes on and on so eventually they just book a holosuite thinking the other one will change their mind but then they both show up in sherlock holmes cosplay and they both refuse to go home and change, and they try to do the story with two holmeses but it just devolves into them arguing for two hours until quark kicks them out and they never try it again. so unfortunately we never get to see that episode but it would have been so funny if it existed
