Happy pride listeners! We’re back with our tenth (!!) episode, this time featuring Stonewall, trans exclusion, and its impact on the gay rights movement. BIG thanks as always to Isaac for his fabulous editing skills (we talk a LOT), and for being the best co-host a twink could ask for! Also thanks to Alex again for our gorgeous little intro/outro music! This month, instead of our usual fiction recs, we’ll have some small LGBT creators and businesses you can support, so be sure to look under the cut for that.
You can find us on the Itunes Podcast App/Webpage at Gay As In Stupid Podcast! You can also find our episodes uploaded to Youtube and Soundcloud!

The national conversation about trans identity and community tends to focus on the newest crop of trans youth. But why don’t we hear about older trans and gender-nonconforming individuals who manage to overcome the at times seemingly impossible odds and survive — and thrive — in America?
Photographer Jess Dugan’s latest project To Survive on This Shore aims to bring attention to those voices. For over five years, Dugan and social worker Vanessa Fabbre have traveled across the United States photographing and interviewing older trans and gender-nonconforming individuals to ensure their stories, largely untold, are finally shared.  See more here (x)

If y’all are here for “soft” and conventionally attractive, white, gender-conforming lesbians, but not here for the butches, the bulldykes, the studs, the GNC lesbians, the lesbians who are strong and proudly masculine, the lesbians who fit the bra-burning “mean hairy dyke” stereotype, fat lesbians, lesbians of color, old lesbians, etc.., then you’re not here for lesbians—you’re here for a cutesy idealized version of lesbianism.
Lesbians are lesbians whether or not you find them personally palatable.

Hugh Grant found dead at the Hollywood Reporter roundtable
Jokes aside, Billy Porter is absolutely right, and I’m glad he’s not afraid to bring the topic up in front of straight actors who benefit off of playing gay roles that gay people can’t get. Thank you, Billy.

Hey there homies and homiesexuals! We’re back again with our May episode (the real one, this time). In this episode, Isaac and I talk about found family in our community and our own lives, and how it has shaped our journeys as gay trans men. Give her a listen, smash that reblog button, and send us some of your own found family stories if you feel like it! Our further reading list is a little short this month unfortunately, but I hope we could provide clear and precise answers and descriptions in this episode.
You can find us on the Itunes Podcast App/Webpage at Gay As In Stupid Podcast! You can also find our episodes uploaded to Youtube and Soundcloud!

Aaron’s May 2019 Recs:
Special Special is a new(ish) comedy series on Netflix by and about Ryan, a gay man with cerebral palsy who seizes on an opportunity to hide his disability from his coworkers at a new internship. Ryan is a funny, flawed, and engaging character based on the memoirs of the actor who plays him.
Be Steadwell Be Steadwell is a soul/acapella/folk musician who is Extremely satisfying to listen to both for gay reasons and music reasons. Her lyrics are humorous and real in a way that feels just like having a conversation with a good friend, and her vocals SLAP. Check her out on spotify or bandcamp!
Recommended songs: -Gay Sex  -Netflix (feat. Asha Santee) -Rita
Isaac’s May 2019 Recs:
Reach the Moon Reach the Moon is a sweet and fun comic found on Tapas hat takes place in a world filled with magic. In this world, a person’s value is based on a bullshit measure of “magic” one possesses. One of the main characters, Amery, lives a life with an extremely small amount and struggles to find himself and work. He meets Serafin, someone who posses an extremely large amount, who’s struggling to find himself as well and the two fall into a cute romance that really just made me smile and feel good.
Pickle Darling Pickle Darling is an LGBT indie/synth pop musician who makes sweet and soft songs peppered with some gay. I adore his lyrics and the energy he and his music put out. Early this year he released his first album, and I could listen to it nonstop easily. Check him out on spotify or bandcamp! Recommended songs: -Chomsky’s Sweater -Happy Together (feat. Skirts) -Even Pinker

Pose FX You all know what Pose is, but for those of you like me who only have access to two legal streaming platforms, she’s on Netflix now! I binged all of it in like two days and the found family dynamics, cinematography, and ball scene are all JUST as good if not More than everyone says they are, so go check it out ASAP to support LITERALLY the largest transgender cast on TV
Ezra Furman Listening to Ezra Furman’s music is like wearing your favorite outfit and hosting a big gay party except the guests are just you and whatever creatures have clawed their way up from your daydreams and its glamorous and glittery and there’s an edge of vampirism! Listen on spotify!
Isaac’s April 2019 Recs!
A Night In The Woods This game is good! It’s a beautiful game where you play as a cat named Mae returning to her hometown from college. You reconnect with friends, family, and your small town while uncovering a dark secret about the town. There is so much to discover in this game, and you have to play it more than one to find it all. It’s one of my all time faves, and not many games have created characters as well thought out and real than in this one. Oh, and there are some wholesome gays and a ost that fucks.
A Normal Lost Phone This game is more of an interactive visual novel where you find a phone and basically break into it. By doing this and exploring it’s contents, you form an intimate connection with the past owner. The first time I played this game, I weeped when I completed it; I won’t spoil the fate of the past owner, but it is a warming story about a young LGBT person coming into their identity and thriving.

Howdy and goodmorning to every gay except the Bottoms for Pete Buttigieg account (too powerful. I’m scared)! In this episode Isaac and I talk about some of the various ways lgbt people are objectified/fetishized/tokenized by straight culture, and what that feels like (Not Good!). We talk about a lot of little, different things in this episode, so I put a lot of little, different things in our further reading section (my favorite one is the Power of Choosing Resilience article, TW for discussion of suicide). Please give us a listen, reblog, share this podcast with your friends, and give us a follow/subscribe if you feel so inclined!

LGBT Fiction Recs Under The Cut!
Aaron’s March 2019 Recs!
Evening Shadows An Indian film about a young man visiting home for the first time in four years and trying to come out to his mother, set against a backdrop of the supreme court’s decision on whether or not to decriminalize gay sex. There are lots of movies about LGBT people coming out to religious families, but what stood out to me and my boyfriend when we watched this movie was the little moments of humanity and sweetness throughout-the protagonist’s clear and full love for his boyfriend, who he lives with, their circle of supportive gay friends, and the affection and similarity between him and his mother.
Carry On, by Rainbow Rowell This is like. Probably on out of two books by straight authors about gay characters that I’ll ever recommend. It’s a beautiful love story, and a riveting fantasy-adventure (Harry Potter with a better system of magic and no houses). I love the way this author writes human connection, and the love her characters have for each other-whether romantic, platonic, or familial-always feels genuine.
Isaac’s March 2019 Recs!
Love Letters to Jane’s World A collection of some of the most notable comic strips from Jane’s World, which features the first lesbian main character to feature in mainstream newspapers, throughout the years. Written and illustrated by Paige Braddock, it’s a true and fun telling of a young lesbian making her clumsy way through her life with friends. I adore these comics, and Braddock’s humor; so if you want to follow something written about a lesbian, by a lesbian, I highly recommend!
Queens of Adventure Another DnD Podcast, but this time the players are a group of Drag Queens. I’m only a few episodes in, but the I’m enjoying it a lot so far; it’s nice to have LGBT content like this created by LGBT folk and being able to support them directly. They are committed to making their podcast and drag a diverse space; and they are pretty hilarious throughout their adventure.

Goood afternoon guys and gays! We’re back from break with our 6th episode, in which Isaac and I discuss our community’s past and present relationship with the prison system as trans people. We have lots of info for you and I know I’ve been Really excited for this episode, so give her a listen! A lot of my sources for this episode were written by transphobes, so I’m only including one of my three Main sources in further reading, as well as some historical news articles. If you’re interested in seeing the rest, feel free to DM me on my main or send an ask to this blog or mine. Warning for deadnaming/misgendering in my historical sources.

LGBT Fiction Recs Under The Cut!
Aaron’s February 2019 Recs!
Six Of Crows Duology Six of Crows is not specifically an LGBT story, which is why I haven’t included it until now, but it has a main mlm romance, the first one I ever read in a book, and it and its sequel are some of the most well-written and engaging heist/fantasy novels I’ve ever read.
Trap Girl Trap Girl is a feminist punk band lead by trans woman Drew Arriola-Sands, and is one of my absolute FAVORITE things to listen to ever. Go check them out on spotify or bandcamp if you’re dysphoric or having a hard time. Or even if you’re not.
Isaac’s February 2019 Recs!
Their Story Their Story is a sweet manga about two girls falling in love. It’s written by a woman and lacks gross fetishization of their pure love. It’s rare to find such sweet media about wlw being in love and goofy and full of personality compared to mlm content, but this manga does an amazing job for making both the girls have more to them than just being wlw. It’s sweet, soft, and heartwarming!
Doukyuusei Both a movie and a manga, Doukyuusei portrays a sweet and nervous romance between two high school boys. It’s heartwarming, and not some nasty yaoi shit that is usually found with mlm in this type of media. It shows them with healthy communication, going at their own pace and falling in true, deep love. Easily one of my fav depression movies to watch when I need a pick me up!
