Iam new here is this blog still up and running. I found out that I originated from Magrebi Berber peoples and want to learn everything and anything I can about my heritage
Hi there!
This blog isn't currently active, but I - the creator of the blog - am still around. I'd be happy to have a conversation with you about this if you like?
i’ve tried so many things for years so i thought i’d try social media for this now.
i’m an adopted moroccan who’s looking for her birth mother, i was born on september 5th 1995 in Berkane, morocco.
i’ve been searching for her for years with absolutely no result whatsoever, i was born at a woman’s house who was a nursing mother and helped my mother with my birth. the police in berkane were involved and took me to a hospital that now doesn’t exist anymore but i got transferred to hospital al farabi in oujda.
if you know/are someone from berkane it would mean the world to me if you could spread the word about this to any moroccan you know and especially people from berkane.
non-moroccans if you have any moroccan mutuals i would really appreciate it if you rb’d this! ♥️
As a Tutsi from east Africa, I found out that I have some North African ancestry. I really love this blog, I can see some ressemblances with the Tuareg and the Amazigh and the nubians. Keep up the good work 😊😍😊
This made me smile so big! I’ve seen a few pictures of traditional Nubian clothing and hair and it’s all so beautiful, can definitely see what you mean about similarities with Tuareg and Imazighen
I wanted to introduce myself to you guys because I feel like I never have properly (featuring my beloved camera!!). Recently I have been getting a lot of love for my photos which is something I never expected!! (more than I deserve tbh).
My name is Zineb and I’m an Animation/ Languages student. I’m also trying to get into Film-making slowly. I’m Algerian but I live in the UK atm. I take photos as a hobby, my favourite are street photography, people, cultures and photos of light. “misk-el-lil” is the name of a flower tree we had in my grandparent’s garden, also can be seen everywhere in Algeria, is one of the things that come to mind when I think of home.
you can see some of my art on @za3maa if you want (its pretty empty rn tbh).
I would love to get to know any people out there who are also into similar stuff, especial other Muslim creatives!! I’m always looking for inspiration lbh :’)
Hind Sahli, Hanaa Ben Abdesslem and Shanina Shaikin in ELIE SAAB Ready-to-Wear Spring Summer 2017 for Harper’s Bazaar Arabia shot by Ellen von Unwerth.
Joann Sfar’s The Rabbi’s Cat is also on Netflix! I’ve been waiting for this to come out for awhile now, the graphic novel is amazing and so is the animated film. Just beautiful.
Algeria in the 1930s is an intersection of Jewish, Arab and French culture. A cat belonging to a widowed rabbi and his beautiful daughter, Zlabya, eats the family parrot and miraculously gains the ability to speak. Along with the power of speech comes unparalleled sardonic wit, and the cat - and filmmaker Sfar - spare no group or individual as they skewer faith, tradition and authority in a provocative exploration of (among other things) God, lust, death, phrenology, religious intolerance, interspecies love, and the search for truth. Rich with the colors, textures, flavors and music of Mediterranean Africa, the film embarks on a cross continent adventure from the tiled terraces, fountains, quays and cafes of colonial Algiers to Maghrebi tent camps, dusty trading outposts, and deep blue Saharan nights in search of a lost Ethiopian city.
Hey I really think it's cool and interesting how similar north African and Mexican traditional apparel are, probably has to do with influence from Arab and Spanish contact
