where are you getting all the ghost lore? i cant remember all that being in the movie

Sorry for the late reply! The special features of the DVD has a section called the ghost files, where you can learn the fairly extensive and interesting back stories for every single ghost in the movie, Including the kind of person that they were, and how they died. if you don’t have the DVD then you can watch the ghost files on YouTube, although it will be in low quality. Just type in the ghost’s name and backstory.. Hope this helps!

I randomly started thinking about this movie (haven't seen it in years), and when I looked up some quotes from it, found out that Dennis compared The Jackal to Charles Manson. looking at the backstory they gave him, I'll admit he had a lot of issues, but do you think he really deserves the comparison? I mean, he did commit himself to an asylum after his attacks because he knew he had a problem, and some of his issues came after he did because institutions back then were just terrible. Thoughts?

The jackal was mentally disturbed, and in the end he was not evil because he wanted to be better. He ended up a victim of deplorable treatment at the asylum he was in. I don’t know if Dennis knew the jackals backstory, I just assumed that because the jackal was clearly violent, and because Dennis already had a major disdain for ghosts as well as the supernatural, I think his comment was more ignorant than purposely insensitive. The jackal was very dangerous and quick to try to kill people so I assume that was why he made the reference to Manson.

I wanted to see your thoughts on this in a way I could see the withered lover being like a mother figure to The First Born son, The Torn Prince and The Bound Woman in a way. Due to her past as being a mother of two kids before she had passed away. And in a way I could see those three viewing her as a mother of sorts.))

I could see that, the dire mother was also a mother in life as well.. the firstborn son definitely needs a mother figure, or at least a mentor or father figure, as he was an unruly brat when he was alive. 😂

I'm watching Thirteen Ghosts again and we just passed The Hammer and Dennis and Maggie meeting. And can I just say that I can understand why he kept attacking Dennis since he helped catch him, but when Maggie put the glasses on his expression completely changed. And honestly I think/theorize that perhaps she reminded him of his murdered wife.

That’s entirely possible and sad if it’s true!

Or should I say breaking the Cyrus of abuse?

Idk maybe I read too much into it, but “privileged rich man captures abused outcasts and mentally ill people for his bidding and keeps them in glass cages” is a juicy concept.

I love your interpretation of the movie! I like the idea of the privileged abuser, although some of the ghost don’t fall into the categories of mentally ill or outcast. I like the torn prince, for example. He was popular as well as a gifted athlete. Although since they are all ghost who are the mercy of someone who is able to control them with magic, I guess they can all be considered wronged for being forced to be cogs in cyrus’s machine.

I like the idea of a ship between The juggernaut and the jackal, probably because of their height difference. Not romantic though, just as very best friends Who terrorize people together.

Ghosts bound to Earth tended to hover near places that were familiar to them. For the Torn Prince, that was a now vacant plot of land that had once been the high school sports field. Rarely did anyone pass by. Except for you. You walked by the field several times each week. He knew that you could see him. He didn’t know why, but the first time you’d passed by, you paused and the two of you made eye contact. He’d walked toward you, and was surprised when you didn’t run. It was only when he brandished his bat in your direction that you backed away. 

He thought it was fun. Sometimes he’d watch you, sometimes he’d get close. He’d gotten bored with that, though. He didn’t want to hurt you, per se. He didn’t know what it was, but he decided to follow you. He stayed behind, unsure if you were aware that he was there or not. Either way, he kept on your trail until you were home, presumably. He stayed outside for a while, watching your shadow through the windows. 

Soon after, he followed you anywhere you went. Now he knew you were aware of his presence. He could see you looking over your shoulder for him. 

‘I’m still here.’

You even confronted him, which he found greatly amusing. “Why are you following me?” You’d asked him. 

‘Because I want to.’ 

You asked him to leave you alone, explaining that there was nothing you could do to help him. Of course you couldn’t help him. He had no intent of asking such a thing. He grinned at how silly you were.

‘Wherever you go, I’ll be right behind ya.’
