â ă @noeiismsâ asked : â everyone has secrets, donât they? iâm sure youâll tell me yours when youâre ready. â [ kyouka! ] ă ă
âż â He already knew plenty about her. More than Kyouka cared for anyone to know, and there were time she had to suppress the discomfort that fact created; however, heâd always been kind to her regardless of thatâ-regardless that sheâd once been tasked with killing himâ-which made it easier to accept. Still... she hesitated to mention more. About the things sheâd done, the people she had taken the lives of, everything sheâd been prepared to give her life to repent for.
Which was all to say that no, she wasnât ready. She didnât know if sheâd ever be, though she suspected that the information would be revealed one way or another, whether she wanted it to be or not.
For the time being, she tried not to dwell, and she tried to take comfort in his words, offering a tiny nod of acknowledgement. Maybe it wouldnât be as terrible as she expected, yet sheâd rather not find out the hard way.

â ă @chameleoniismââ asked : "i've got your back, okay?" for kyouka! ă ă
âż â Kyouka never went on missions aloneâ-due to her age, perhaps, or her status as a special ward rather than a fully fledged studentâ-despite any proficiency she showed or how many cursed spirits she killed; even when it came to weaker cases, she always had someone with her. And, well, she understood why the higher-ups must distrust her. Her mother had been a curse user, after all, and her skills had initially been honed under the guidance of other curse users.
Sheâd killed humans, not just monsters. Because of that, sheâd been more than fortunate to receive her current treatment... even if the childish side of her couldnât help but sulk a bit at being chaperoned.
Teru seemed nice enough, and since sheâd arrived at the school recently, she needed time to learn the ropes. Typically, this mission wouldnât be deemed nearly important enough to send two people ( even if they were students ), as these cursed spirits were fairly weak in comparison to others around the cityâ-but it served as a test of sorts.
At the words of encouragement, the girl halted in her step, shifting her gaze to watch the elder. All the while, she kept her guard up, her awareness of their surroundings never wavering.
Had Teru ever seen Kyoukaâs cursed technique? Ah... there was a first time for everything. â...okay. You can watch.â

â ă @chironitasââ asked : 3oïč sender  wraps  a  blanket  around  receiverâs  shoulders . [ for kyouka! ] ă ă
âż â Kyouka took the roll of kitten caretaker very seriously, as evidenced by her diligence in ensuring the tiny animal remained happy and healthy. In conjunction with helping Vanitas whenever he needed it ( not to mention the sleepless nights she struggled with ), this understandably left her a little more fatigued than usual; she didnât mean to close her eyes while cuddling the kitten on the couch, yet they fluttered shut anyway.
Each time the pet stirred, she did tooâ-each time he laid his head back down, she did too. And she didnât fail to note when Vanitas brought a blanket over, the way he methodically draped it over her without covering the animal up in the process.
Her eyes cracked open only slightly as she watched, enough that she couldnât tell if he noticed or not. But she knew heâs likely become evasive should she mention it or otherwise make it clear she saw, so she settled for expressing her gratitude via silent thought. If asked, she could pretend she thought NoĂ© did it.
Regardless, that didnât matter now. Poking gently at the kitten and earning a muted mew in return, she allowed her thoughts to drift off into pleasant dreams.

â ă @wishlivedâ asked : â thatâs simply not true. you know it, i know it. â (Aphra to Percy) ă ă
đ„ â Sometimes, Percy couldnât tell if people disagreed with her because they genuinely held that opinion or if they simply disliked her and therefore refused to acknowledge anything she saidâ-and Aphra turned out to be one such case. The claim that cats were the greatest animal, hands down, evidently didnât sit well with the elder, and she couldnât believe her ears. ( Sure, people were entitled to their own opinions and she respected their autonomy. But that wouldnât stop her from arguing about it, would it? ) Kitten cradled in one hand, she rested the other against her chest in a scandalized manner.
Well, if nothing else, at least Aphra hadnât seen her heal the strayâs injured foot; the younger didnât care to know what consequences revealing her ability might bring.
âYou can say what you must in the privacy of your own home,â she retorted, hand moving to instead gently cover the kittenâs ears, âbut please, think of the children. They deserve better than to hear your blasphemy.â

â ă @ofsaviorâ asked : Skepticism was firm across her gaze, and she studied him for longer than a teacher probably should have. But who could blame a teacher who had Karma enrolled in class? Suspicion was heavy in the classroom. âRepeat after me.â She demanded, writing Russian letters on the board. âI will not backtalk in class. My teacher knows better than I do.â ă ă
đȘ â If Professor Bitch ever thought sheâd be afforded a dayâs worth of peace in this class, then she was sorely mistakenâ-and far more idiotic than that cutesy act she used as a rouse made her out to be. And Karma didnât even consider himself the worst offender in that regard ( even if heâd started the nickname matter ), considering he often kept to himself in the back of the room. Today, though, heâd felt like starting something, which led to him disturbing her lecture.
Which led to her holding him back after school. Heâd almost laughed in her face at the demand; in the end, however, he decided to play along, and that fact alone mustâve set off alarm bells in her headâ-he could see it in her eyes.
âI will not backtalk during class,â he drawled lazily, a mischievous smile curling at his lips. âMs. Jelabitch knows better than I do.â

â ă @monocaelixâ asked : ( toge > kyouka ) - [ shield ] sender steps between receiver and danger ă ă
âż â Missions didnât make up the majority of encounters with cursed spiritsâ-in a large, bustling city like Tokyo, they could pop up anywhere, borne out of countless peopleâs fears and frustrations. For this reason, Kyouka thought it wise to keep up a healthy level of vigilance at all times... though, she didnât necessarily carry her sword around each time she went out. It could draw unnecessary attention, and she didnât feel like dealing with the possible repercussions of breaking the law; she did, however, always keep knives hidden in the folds of her kimono.
On a trip to acquire ice cream with Toge, she found herself a little more relaxed than usual ( and she nearly forgot to translate their order to the poor server who didnât know how to respond to tuna mayo ). Not enough that she didnât notice the cursed spirit herself, though she opted to ignore it while they were walking down a fairly crowded street.
It did follow, fortunately. And once they reached a more secluded area, it made its move, leaping down from the wall it crawled across. At the same time, Toge stepped in front of the younger, handing their ice cream off to her and unzipping his collar in one smooth motion.
The spiritâ-maybe grade two or three at bestâ-didnât stand a chance.
While prepared to offer her help if necessary, Kyouka also didnât want to risk their ice creamâs safety, so she settled for watching as Toge dispatched the threat, then handed their dessert back to them.
âNext time,â she spoke as though nothing happened, âwe should try and bring some back for the others.â They just needed to keep it from melting on their return trip to campus. Maybe they could buy a cooler...?

â ă @wishlivedâ asked : â trust me, thereâs no such thing as good people. â (Aphra to Moran) ă ă
â â There were some. They were few and far between, sure, but some existed. And most people werenât horrible eitherâ-they simply fell somewhere on the spectrum. Moran didnât know what he qualified as, nor did he particularly care; he did his share of bad things, he hates viscerally, he saw most of the world and bleak colors, yet he gave his service to the one good person he could find. Perhaps that counted as something.
It wouldnât last, however. He played the skeptic to his idealistic leader, but he wouldnât be able to follow him until the end, a burden he couldnât share with anyone.
But it seemed he found a companion more jaded than himself, and under his breath, he huffed out a laugh.
âIâll drink to that,â he muttered, eyes trained on the glass near his hand... though he made no move to down it. He hadnât touched it in several minutes, in fact, which mayâve been what prompted such a discussionâ-the concept weighing more heavily on his mind tonight than it did most others.

 ă âżÂ !!! ă â:
he watches the girl carefully , noticing how easily morgana warms up to her - yeah , totally not a cat . he thinks , a small smile growing only slightly as he watches the interaction . between dealing with awful adults in the real world and seeing the distortion of so many in the metaverse , itâs been a challenge to remember the good things in the world . then again , that would likely be the case for anyone else if they had the responsibilities heâd had forced upon him .
so , sue him for allowing the nice girl to dote on his cat . if morganaâs purring is any indication of anything , they both need this .Â
akira tries to hide the amusement in his expression as morgana protests that he does not , in fact , like treats because heâs human and he doesnât eat cat treats . he pats the cats head gently , as if heâs trying to say just go with it . â yeah , he loves them . he loses his mind the second he hears the word . â he laughs lightly - heâs in for an earful when theyâre off the train .Â
ă âż ă Not every cat did, so she figured it best to askâ-both she and the president received mixed results when offering, which led to some experimentation on her part ( though she couldnât exactly ask for constructive feedback, given that animals couldnât speak ). Sheâd make the strips of dried fish herself and thought they tasted decent even by human standards, and she wouldnât pass up the chance to see how an actual cat liked them; thus, at the confirmation, she reached into her hidden pocket to retrieve one of the treats, then held it out.
When she had the free time, perhaps sheâd pick up a book or two on feline nutrition, though being a detective left her schedule a little unpredictable depending on how many cases they were assigned. Sheâd been fortunate enough to have today free, and it was hard to tell whether sheâd be in the mood for reading or exploring next time.

â ă @wishlivedââ asked : â any place or thing in the universe can be up to 104% perfect. thatâs how we got beyonce. â (Lewis to Percy) ă ă
đ„ â Who? It took Percy a few long moments to recognize the name given, and she spent that time staring blankly at Lewis; after all, sheâd never been that into pop culture, nor did she often seek out music to listen toâ-so there were topics she was more than a little out of touch with. But she never cared enough to correct that, as she didnât see it as necessary to correct to begin with.
Besides, if she could use that to tease the younger, then all the better, in her humble opinion.
Taking a long sip of her tea, she stayed silent as she debated the ideal response, then settled on something simple but effective:Â âWho?â

â ă @noeiismsââ asked : fate can be a cruel mistress to noĂ©. every now and again, it strikes him down in his prime, taking him down a notch or two, upending any sorts of plans he may have made. today is one such day; he'd promised kyouka he'd take her to the carnival --- there were supposed to be rides and sweet treats and exotic animals that could do tricks, all manner of new and foreign and exciting things! --- but the minute he wakes up, sunlight assaulting his eyes painfully, he realizes he'll be lucky if he makes it out of bed today, let alone out the front door. his head feels as though it's made of cotton wool, he's got the sorest throat he's ever had in his life, and he's all stuffed up.
(of course this would happen today, when he'd been so looking forward to it. noĂ©'s heart sinks into his shoes.) he's still wrapped in the comforter when he drifts to kyouka's door, knocking lightly at the doorframe; when he speaks, he's surprised at just how awful he sounds. tentatively: "kyouka...? i... know i promised we could go to the carnival today, but... maybe we could... wait until tomorrow...? i feel... funny." ă ă
âż â Her first trip to the carnival had been... something. Bittersweet, perhaps, as sheâd still been under that organizationâs thumbâ-yet she met these two, who gave her the chance to stand in the sunlight once again. Either way, itâd be nice to go again, this time without any overwhelming burdens weighing down on her shoulders; they could simply enjoy what the atmosphere had to offer, see all the shows and eat all the food and ride all the rides. If that entailed making herself sick in the process, then so be it as long as they had fun.
Except that she didnât expect NoĂ© to fall ill before the festivities.
When he knocked on the door, sheâd been in the process of scrutinizing different outfits laid out atop her bed, and both that and his voice were so faint she strained to hear him; if not for her typical vigilance, she may notâve noticed at all.
Silent steps brought her to the door, and she opened it so they could speak more clearly. And yes, he certainly looked ragged and in no condition to be going outâ-that much was undeniable.
With an impassive nod, she confirmed, âWeâll stay home,â because really, they had no alternative options when he felt like this. He couldnât help it, so she didnât mind... besides, the carnival would be in town for another week, and sheâd been planning to convince him to go twice anyway.
She returned her clothes to her dresser for now, then led the way to the kitchen, setting the kettle to boil, rummaging through the cabinets in search of medicine, and then preparing the ingredients for soup.
âDonât push yourself if youâre not feeling well tomorrow, either. Weâll go once you feel better.â Even if that meant waiting for next time entirely.
