A Chinese Journey
The Sigg Collection,
My ego
My way

'Question: Why do you do things? Answer: Ow that is just the way it is done.' - Nobody knows why they do what they do. They do it because thats always been the way it has been done. People don't even think about the possibility that it maybe could be done in an other way. People don't ask questions. So darling, Always ask questions.

A good old fashion protest.
I was riding my back home from a meeting while I was admiring the beautiful scene of Amsterdam. The evening sun was low which highlighted the beautiful sky line even more. My dreamy mind was abruptly distorted by a big sound wave. The traffic got more dense and I had to stop to see what was blocking the road. A whole parade of long harry hippies (yes the stereotype is partly true) with big signs were protesting to keep the city air clean and the bike roads open. While I heard some slightly angry comments around me I could not suppress the smile on my face. A good old fashion protest. Something I hadn’t seen in a while. In this age of ‘social media protest’ and (lets be honest) a pussy way of making your point this felt like a fresh air. Bring together a group of people who stand for the same cause and shout it out to the ones who don’t want to listen. I am not saying this is the way for all our problems. But it does bring a smile on my face. God I love Amsterdam..

‘I can see a woman crying‘
‘Rineke Dijkstra’ - ‘I can see a woman crying’
My mother had been talking about ‘showing me something’ for a while.
We went to the Stedelijk Museum half an our before it would close. There was an exhibition of Rineke Dijkstra there. An artist I know the work of but not the name (as usual with me)
My mother brought me straight to the video installation that she talked about. We sat down, and looked. We looked at the kids who where looking. My mouth dropped probably after half a minute. magic in front of my eyes.
besides that it aesthetically pleasant to watch and the camera work was spot on, the whole concept was just brilliant. The way these kids look, really look at a painting. And then talk about it with each other. Wondering together what is happening there. Reinforcing each other but also contradicting. After watching it 3 times you notice the personalities coming trough there comments.
For me this is a beautiful insight of how we look and interpretate, and how this is also influenced by what others see.

Talking about suralism....
I love the surprise and the doubt you have if this is real or not. the unbelief of ‘is this possible. The amazement you get is more than a football field. its art.
Cities, 3rd place. Photo and caption by Misha De-Stroyev. Henningsvær Football Field. This football field in Henningsvær in the Lofoten Islands is considered one of the most amazing fields in Europe, and maybe even in the world. The photo was taken during a 10-day sailing trip in Norway in June 2017. We arrived to Henningsvær after a week of sailing through the cold and rainy weather. Upon our arrival, the weather cleared up. I was really lucky that the conditions were suitable for flying my drone, and I managed to capture this shot from a height of 120 meters.

I always love it when every day reality is mixed with fantasy scenarios that make you look twice and think twice since it actually gives criticism on the current society.

I went to this movie made by Tom Ford the other day and I was impressed. Besides it beeing a beautiful story and really well acted there is a kind of filter over every shot that just fits with the rest. I can see how he looks and how he thought of the image constantly as a way of telling the story. almost everyshot could be a beautiful photograph by itself.

a strange love affair with ego - 2doc
You know those movies/documentarys that stay in you head and pup op without really knowing why.
This one is one of those.
It keeps you guessing who they are talking about and the combination with the tekst in the immage works amazingly well.
I just.... yea, its one of those
