“It is, from the outset, subjective. When you speak this way, it is as if ‘goodness’ is an innate property of a person. You either are or are not. How cruel a world for those trying to be better, and for those who are good ‘as expected of them’ - even though it is painful.” She shakes her head again, scowling now. Can’t connect to people? No conscience? Such familiar words.

“The person who gets hurt the most by this is you, Miss Caitlyn. Bad but trying to be good, convinced she will never be. And me, good enough to fall on her blade with a smile. Your words leave us both in chains.” Then, a cold empty laugh. Mechanical. That’s just how she laughs though.

“It’s not a very good thing you’re doing, making this statement.”
