Faith. Her name alone invokes awe. ‘Faith.’ A set of principles or beliefs upon which you’re willing to devote your life. The Dark Slayer. A lethal combination of beauty, power, and death.
Eliza Dushku as Faith Lehane in Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997-2003)

Im not meant to be doing homework I should be thinking about characters and putting them in situations or perhaps looking out a rainsoaked window and warping song lyrics to fit into their mouths

It’s always “Faith crawling out of that grave in the rain foreshadows Buffy crawling out of her own grave” and never “let us consider the parallels between Buffy stabbing Angelus in Becoming, Part 2 and Buffy stabbing Faith in Graduation Day, Part 1”
@laurelwinchester you know what I’m saying?

I think my favorite aspect of Faith's character is just how good she is at reading people while also being emotionally stunted about it. she's kind of like Spike in that way but notable examples:
She gets all dressed up and dances with a vampire at the bronze with no stake or cross. makes a big show on the dance floor to catch Buffy's attention and leads her outside so she can borrow a stake and do a slaying as an introduction.
she encounters Spike at the bronze and catches a half a whiff of him crushing on Buffy and immediately crushes his spirit about it. gets him so hard he gets nauseous
she gives Angel a gun with one blank and one live round Knowing she can get him to fire the blank and give the gun back so she can shoot him in the gut
but she's unable to use this capability understand that anyone might actually give a shit about her or her well-being. she's so funny and messy and I love her

its actually a crime that spike/dru is so unpopular relative to other btvs pairings when they are undeniably the most iconic freaks on that show and they changed everything for us as a society. how quickly we forget the sheer impact of THIS:

the descriptions that spike gives faith actually get more insane as they go on when you consider that these all almost certainly come from buffy (or maybe dawn? but considering her attitude towards faith i’d assume she doesn’t want to talk about her much, so i’m going with buffy)
anyways lets review
1. Leather pants
Yeah, fair. She does wear a lot of leather pants. Recognizable trait of hers. Still firmly in the normal category.
2. Nice right hook
Ok, slayer-normal. They did spend a lot of time sparring. Mostly makes sense to know what your previous kind of enemy favors. Telling Spike about it is a /little/ weird, because why would he need to know, but maybe that’s just recognition again.
3. Doe eyes
Veering into weird. Have you spent a lot of time thinking about Faith’s eyes? Why are you telling Spike about them? Doe eyes is also just like. An interesting thing to choose, I think, since they’re commonly associated with vulnerability, etc.
4. Holier-than-thou glower
What Now. This says insane things about what Buffy feels about s7 Faith tbh. Also, once again, incredible important question: why the HELL is she talking to Spike about this? The interpretations…..probably need their own post actually.
anyways, overall, wild. imagine showing up in town bc you thought your ex-but-not-really turned enemy turned vague-ally-that-you’re-still-in-love-with needed you there and you try to rescue her from a vampire (both of y’alls entire thing) and then the vampire knows a really weird sequence of things about you and now suddenly she’s there. and semi-endorsing the vampire punching you.

I have terrible motivation, but once while I was in a super goofy mood I started writing a fic where the Mayor, upon noticing that Faith and Buffy clearly have romantic feelings for one another, realizes that the best way to get both slayers on his side is to convince Buffy to date Faith. What I’m trying to get at is, The Mayor plays matchmaker for Faith and Buffy as part of his evil Ascension plan and not at all because he loves Faith and wants her to be happy. There was also a subplot were the Mayor kept “gently” encouraging the people of Sunnydale to wildly flirt with Angel as a plot to break up him and Buffy, but Angel was just... so not understanding that he’s being hit on. And another subplot was the Scoobies all basically going “what do you mean it’s not heterosexual to be attracted to people of the same gender??”
