Hi Friends!

Checkpoint #1 is now open and can be found here. This is NOT mandatory, it's just if you'd like to share how things are going for you. This is for writers only (as artists don't have anything to 'art' yet lol).

As always, late sign-ups for both writers and artists are still open! If you'd like to join the bigbang you can do so here.

The next 'due date' will be proposals in June. As we get closer to that, the mods will post about how proposals work, as well as the exact time that they are due + time zone adjustments so everyone knows when that is for them. The same will be the case for claims :)

So like....what are these proposal things?

Hey y'all! Recently we got an ask about what exactly proposals are and what the whole claiming process is. As such, we decided to make a little post about it!

The event is still open for sign-ups for writers and artists, and you can sign-up here.

About Proposals:

To submit a successful proposal, your work must be at least 75% done. Reminder to writers that this is a big bang event, so all written works must have a finished word count of at least 10k. There is no maximum.

What this means:

Your work needs a clear beginning, middle, and end. However you write - chronologically, outline then scene creation, etc - your mods need to be able to see how your fic will come together.

For whatever scenes you've not yet completed, there needs to be an outline. Bullet points of events are acceptable, random ??? for the ending are not.

What this does not mean: your work has to be complete, your work has to be over 10k, your work cannot change at all*

Remember, roughly 75% complete. If your fic is going to be just over 10k, the proposal will still be accepted even if the word count is lower than 10k.

*Your written work does not have to stick tightly to a specific ending or plot line. We understand that the writing process sometimes demands a change in scenes, endings, or plot lines. Changing a scene that you had plotted out for proposals is of course fine. We only ask that you communicate with your artist about that change incase their art was based on it.

What is not allowed is a complete fic change after claims have been made.

So...why so strict?

A couple reasons. The first being that Artists select proposals based on summary, but will use whatever you’ve gotten done up to this point to decide what they’re going to make and get started on it, so we need to make sure they’ve got enough to work with.

The second reason is that we understand how much work our creators put into their assignments. We would prefer not to match an artist with a writer who is unlikely to be able to finish their work on time.

Artists, you don't have to do anything for proposals, as you will be claiming haha.

A pre-determined team is where a writer and an artist have decided before they sign that they want to do work for each other (meaning that the writer already knows the artist creating for them, and the artist knows what they'll be creating for).

Signing up with a co-creator means that more than one writers work on the same fic, or more than one artist work on the same art piece.

F1 Big Bang 2024 Schedule + Announcements

HERE WE ARE AGAIN FOLKS

Welcome Welcome Welcome to the F1 Big Bang of 2024!

There are a few changes this year, so please be sure to read through this post.

Firstly, we have a mod change! @nobrakesdown will be helping us out this year both in admin stuff and the discord! They will have the tag mod!cove on any posts.

Secondly, we are going to (attempt) staggering fic release dates this year. This means that after proposals are claimed and matches are made, teams will be able to pick their preferred posting date (more information will become available for this process when we are a bit closer.)

Third, we are also planning on opening the collection for amnesty posting after all the teams have posted their works. This means that if you have signed up but are unable to submit a proposal, and still complete a work, you will be able to post that work to the collection during that period.

Speaking of the collection, through technical difficulties, this is the correct AO3 collection for 2024. Unfortunately Tabs has had to take a leave of absence from the event, and as such we are unable to access the first 2024 collection that they made, nor are we able to access the parent collection. If this changes, an announcement will be made, but for now the right collection is (f1bigbang_2024) on ao3.

Finally, we have moved the schedule up but have not shortened it. It is as follows:

• Writer + Artist Priority Signup: March 15-30

• Writer + Artist Late Signup: April 1 - June 7 (writers) OR June 14 (artists)

• Checkpoint #1: May 7 (optional)

• Writer Proposals Due: June 15

• Writer Proposals Preview: June 18

• Priority Artist Claims: June 19-20

• Second + Late Artist Claims: June 21-22

• Checkpoint #2: July 31 (mandatory for artists)

• Final Works Due: August 27

• Collection opens/works revealed starting: September 1
