I've seen new people floating around for a while, but I haven't actually written an introduction post, so here! ^-^

I go by Catherine (and sometimes variations "Cath" and "Heron"), my pronouns are she/her, and I'm an adult. I've been reading KotLC for around a decade now and been in the fandom for over seven years! I'm also Catholic, and my passion is language.

I've kind of been all over the fandom! I'm the longest-active user on the wiki, which I ran from 2018-2020, and I've been part of the fandom on Goodreads, Pinterest, and Discord as well. Basically, I never shut up about KotLC, so. >u<

Mainly, I think I'm known for loving Sophitz, making (often cursed) edits, and my various work editing the wiki, writing analysis, and writing fanfiction. Sometimes I'm also funny, but I am first and foremost a major nerd.

I'm not great at responding quickly, but I love to chat, so feel free to hit up my askbox!

Anyways, I have a theory that Keepblr typically thinks that the series is too mature for ages 8-12 because Keepblr is mostly composed of teens, and differences in ages feel more extreme when you're younger. Like adults tend to view ages 12 and 14 as fairly similar in maturity, but if you're 14, you're going to view a 12 year old as a little kid, and yourself as fairly mature. So if you, as a 14 year old, as a teenager, feel like Keeper is a reasonable level of maturity for you, you're probably going to assume that it's too mature for a 12 year old, even if it's not. Same would apply for older teens too.

#I think also you just conceptualize violence entirely differently once you're older and have a frame of reference for it #I read and loved warrior cats as a kid with no issue and when I went back to it as a teen I was SHOCKED at how violent it is #sometimes the descriptions are pretty graphic!!#but when you're younger violence feels... I think just more contained in the story?#like it's JUST a thing that happens in the story #and when you're older every act of violence you read you can't help but associate with real world people and events in a way #especially w fans getting older--the flashback torture was very hard for me to read as a teen but that may have been different--#--had I still been a kid when it came out #discourse #kotlc discourse #keepblr
