Obviously Mary Sue's hanging onto Venti's every word, but it all comes out a little differently by the time it's filtered through her brains.

"Gasp, I get it! You were trying to get my attention the entire time! That's why you went on that funny tangent about your lover, 'cause you wanted to make me jealous, right?"

This so-called penniless storyteller...was obviously making up tall-tales on the spot because he had a crush on her! How could she have missed all the signs?

She was definitely getting sloppy in the romance department!

"T-that's...! I mean, maybe if you were three feet taller we could have a nice chat, but height differences are only cute on me when I'm the shorter one, you know? O-oh, unless you want me to introduce you to Eddy instead?!"

"Hey, that's not fair! If he wants a steady boyfriend, he has to snag 'em himself!"

He feels a small stab of annoyance, but reminds himself to take a deep breath and not scold the girl for speaking to a god the way she just did. They had done horrible things in the past to people who thought themselves better than the gods.

Pursing his lips, he decides to just skip everything she just said, disregarding it the way she just disregarded him. He wouldn't bother to elaborate that although he was a god, he was so hands off with his children that most never believed him to be their god, either. He made it a point to avoid being angry around his children, and although she wasn't from Mondstat, he felt hoped that one as free spirited and whimsical as her truly meant well.

"I have no idea who this Eddy is, but I don't mean him. It could be anyone. It doesn't have to be someone you already know. It could be someone you meet."

Someone she trusted...whom she knew a long time? Someone she could be vulnerable with...

Waving away that idea in a jiffy, Mary Sue pounces on the other bits instead.

"I don't get what you mean about flaws (obviously she had none that were really important!), but I know how true love works! You just gotta love someone unconditionally and it's 'Happily Ever After!' Besides, your own love story's full of flaws too! I've never seen a penniless storyteller with such fancy clothes! You sure your moody hunky general isn't just paying you to cosplay on the side?"

"Anyways, fairy tales are all about love that lasts forever! Your fairy godmothers must be faulty or something, 'cause mine always makes my dreams come true. They just couldn't come with me here, that's all..."

"Not exactly...." He takes a deep breath and tries to think of how to word things. "Status, looks, and everything you did in the past shouldn't ultimately be considered."

Love was without a doubt his favorite thing, right after freedom. "Love comes naturally, and we never know from where or who. There's one whom my heart belongs to, that many would be surprised to learn if they knew about us. I wouldn't call our romance forbidden, but it is... unusual. I'm a wandering penniless carefree story teller with a preference for drinking his sorrows away, and my love is an introverted general who silently protects his city. He would give his life for the sake of others, without hesitation."

This girl wasn't malicious, that much was obvious. Buuuut she was strange.

"You seem to enjoy fairy tales, and that's not a bad thing! But it does effect your ability to form deep connections, it seems. By that, I mean, you seem to want someone perfect, and even with your... ahem. List of accomplishments, you have your flaws. I think you might have better luck if you didn't worry too much about those things that ultimately shouldn't effect a true relationship."

He was doing his best to word things delicately, not wanting to shatter the delusions the girl held.

"Fairy Tale romances never go into long term things. If you want a "true love" type of romance, you'll want to know someone well and for a long time. Someone to trust, someone you can be vulnerable with. You've had a busy life and helped a lot of people from what you say, wouldn't it be nice not to worry about having to do that for your partner?"

"It's because I'm so perfect, right? For some reason, guys are intimidated by that!"

"That's why I try dating apps and sites—but the silly things never give you enough room in your profile to talk about yourself! What if I miss the perfect match because we both like hula dances by City of Glass' volcano but I just didn't have enough wordcount to fit it in?! It's sooooo tragic."

Romeo was disloyal, and rather in love with the concept of love itself. A man like that, I'm sure you could do better!" Plus Romeo and Juliet both died in the end....

Still, he was kind of stuck. He had offered to help fulfil her dreams, but this was ..... beyond delusional.

"Ah.... what a free spirited young thing...." He hoped she didn't see him as a viable target for romancing, considering she mentioned gods several times.

"Although... I think I'm beginning to get an idea of why it might be taking a bit for you to end up with a partner so far...."

"If looks are obvious, then let's talk about status!"

"I wanna marry God! A God of Handsome! Barring that, maybe a God of the Business World! Or a heir to royalty! Um, um...but of course he'll have to be a gentleman and know how to treat ladies right, and praise me all the time and have tea with me and take me to picnics with homecooked meals oh but also appreciate MY homecooked meals for HIM because that's half the fun of dating, to feed the one you love!! And we'll live in a big mansion or castle or townhouse with a lovely green yard and white picket fence and a dog and a cat and some birds and maybe butterflies thanks to the butterfly bushes in the backyard and eat organic because we'd have a vegetable garden of course, even in the winter, thanks to the plot in the backyard AND the greenhouse he built up from scratch, and whenever I'm sad he'd serenade me like the old days when we first dated, and maybe one night he'll toss me a rose and call me his Juliet and I'd leap down from the balcony and—!!"

"W-well, lets... let's move on! Tell me about your CURRENT ideal partner. I assume you desire one who identifies as a man? Don't focus on appearance, right now. Love often comes in people you wouldn't expect! If you focus too much on appearance, you might never find someone." Though, even he isn't sure what to make of this girl. He wonders if he'll regret this. But he is a god, and refuses to accept that anyone was helpless in the case of romance.
