If I randomly vanish I decided to be lonely and suicidal alone because it's more tolerable than being lonely and suicidal in public. God that sounds so passive-aggressive but I mean that seriously and I think making the decision to isolate is at the very least an attempt to help myself

A day late but what breadavota characters celebrate the yearly holiday 4/20
The Marginals don't like drugs and so everyone else wouldn't even know what drugs are because the Marginals would decimate any trace of them existing.
To clarify, the Marginals have no moral opposition to drugs per se, they just think 'altering' your thinking through means besides the Faculty Of Language is laughable and pathetic. You should only get high through the Time-honoured tradition of shitty hebephrenic poetry and verbally harassing each other for significant periods of Time without reprieve.

I don't know about George Orwell in the personal/political sense of his life and only know of him from reading his two books but I saw a post where somebody said George Orwell is 'problematic' [ much else to be said about the need to 'cancel' dead people in the form of Internet discourse, I suppose ] because Animal Farm depicts the working class as unable to achieve class consciousness and the poster takes this to mean a fatalistic view where the ordinary people must always submit to authority.
Correct me if I'm wrong here but:
- Isn't the 'point' of Animal Farm not that the working class was too 'stupid' but that they were manipulated by Napoleon et al? Between Snowball and Napoleon, I always presumed they symbolised the 'academics/intellectuals' and education/academia has also been a tool of the state more aligned with the status quo than the interests of ordinary man [ I'm not familiar with the historical context so I'm not entirely sure about this ].
- 1984 is quite explicit about how the authoritarian government is self-seeking, corrupt and, well, authoritarian, and that the hope lies with the proles. I mean, it is not very subtle. Regardless of what intricacies about Orwell's life are unbeknownst to me, it does seem that any issues with Animal Farm's execution re: the message is an issue with the book more than it is a reflection of Orwell's ideologies as a whole, doesn't it?
I'm sure people who read Orwell and the like for political theory reasons have something to say about the matter and this may be a buffoonish perspective from someone who only knows of his works as a 'casual reader of fiction'.

I am not cut out for this realm. I really ought to kill myself. I don't like how the world is uncertain and dishonest, and I don't like how I can't control my own emotions. At least if I die the choice will be mine. I wish it would all just disappear! Leave me alone! Leave me alone! Look at me, say something, leave me alone! All you can do is to claim one thing and do another, having some semblance of a moral consistency is treated as a joke, I can practically hear your laughter. Every single time. To try and try and try to make existence meaningful is not only pointless, you're going to get punished over and over and over again for it, life is for everyone else, and for you to even think about 'having' it is not only ridiculous, it's evil. You stupid fucking obnoxious worthless piece of shit you should have died the first time around you should have died every other time around why can't you kill yourself harder why did you have to survive if you're going to have the mangled piece of flesh playing as a brain in that numbfuck skull of yours you should have fucking died the first time around like you deserve kill yourself kill yourself kill yourself do it for my sake for our own personal convenience you might as well do it because it doesn't matter and nothing will change! You're going to die in the middle of nowhere and there will be no funeral and there will be no obituary and nobody will notice when your body rots into the floor where the rest of you already went ahead. The reason people cannot stand you is you don't have the basic fucking etiquette to stay on the ground stop getting up and stop coming back kill yourself kill yourself kill yourself tonight in an hour in a minute right now you're an incorrigible burden you're the scum of the earth you're so appalling not even your abusers find it funny to beat the shit out of you anymore go rot in your basement go hide from nobody there's no-one to hide from because nobody's looking they should have beat you harder you should have driven that knife farther down your skull you should have bashed your head against each of the case steps you are wasting our time and you are going to kill yourself and when you die nothing will happen and nobody will say a thing and nobody will even look or notice you selfish self-important pretentious sack of shit

A thing I love to do is telling prepper dudes that one of my disaster readiness skills is making stuffed animals. They never get it. Like, my dude, when things get very bad and we're all sharing overcrowded shelters, you're gonna want the power to comfort children. Trust me.

An actual linguist is most likely to answer this better so do not take this as an academic claim but more a 'the health is determined by the four humours' type of meanderthalic observation but between the argument that language is 'innate' [ or at the very least, that we have a 'seed' for it that later sprouts with practice ] and that humans in their exceptional intelligence/analytic skills are able to grasp and solve language like a puzzle.
Um. Well, the problem with the first is that it is indeed not easy to falsify, exactly, but I generally find it more convincing [ again, as somebody with no actual claim to an informed opinion ] if only because language is very complex. I am sure even people like me with no backgrounds in linguistics are well-aware by now that language is far more complicated than memorising plug-and-play formulae and swapping out the words. Like, language is more than just counting and arranging lexical units.
And this is what I find confusing about the notion that humans have no 'innate' ability for language and that it is wholly learned from the outside world: language is quite complex but most people know how to use language 'correctly' [ for lack of a better word ].
Other skills that to me seem significantly simpler [ or less complex, if that communicates something different ] aren't held by the majority of the population, and it does seem aren't as 'intuitive' to learn, so I am uncertain with how to reconcile this with the idea that people have that much of a general 'competence' to 'solve puzzles' in a way that lets them learn language [ without some innate... I don't know what linguists call it, the great automatic grammatisator or something ], but not something else like, um, chess, or looking at a piece of art and immediately knowing it's ugly as shit[1].
Especially when considering that machines have been 'taught' how to play board games before they 'learned' how to 'speak' [ insofar that you would call that 'speaking' ], it doesn't seem too erroneous to assume that if the 'answer' is in the human mind's great automatic puzzleinator, then you'd think there would be a higher proportion of people who would have given Karpov a run for his money far earlier.
As a sort of... uh, folk-knowledge intuition-no-evidence feeling I have, it does seem language is uniquely coupled with 'abstraction' in that if you asked me, language exists specifically for the sake of conveying abstraction? Or perhaps I imagine that 'speech' resembles/represents 'thought' in the same way that a mental projection resembles/represents material reality.
I've always wondered if, coupled with humans being 'innately social' and thus sort of leading to an 'innate' need as well to communicate abstraction then perhaps this alone is enough to make the brain 'prioritise' the need to learn language, devoting resources to that instead of the less 'important' skills, but, uh, this does seem like a weak argument, at least one that doesn't sound any more reasonably 'provable' than the assumption that a person can just 'know' how to use language given the 'seed' is allowed to sprout within a critical period of youth.
I haven't really read anything about this at all, but do animals create art? Not counting the ones where they are trained to do so by humans. But do animals just spontaneously make art, for self-expression? I think if they did this would reveal a depth in their ability for abstract thinking, which would have important implications for language acquisition. I think that 'language' is a representation of abstraction (and a recursive theory of mind), and that animals cannot (seem to) use 'human' language because they lack the sort of abstract thinking humans do. 'Art' is another such representation so... well, I'm really not articulating this the way I want, but I think the idea I am gesturing to is evident enough.
[1] I say this as a lighthearted example of a skill that seems less complex than language but of which is proportionally more uncommon in the population, because I cannot think of another skill to use as an example [ Maybe riding a bike? I cannot ride a bike, and that's more of a motor skill than a cognitive one so maybe it is not related ]. For the sake of simplicity please ignore how there is no objective measure for evaluating an artwork as 'shit' and understand I am gesturing to some understanding of the technical skills/anatomical structure/realism/whatever else of art.

- And I think today I might want to die, and then I'd ask can't you say something nice to me? Why won't you even look at me? to nobody in particular, except maybe to myself, who is really somewhere else, only ever seeing me from my own peripheral vision.
