I’ve only seen the first two episodes of dragons rising season two and so far Lloyd has collapsed from exhaustion, had panic attacks, and experienced a dissociative episode. Even the show knows this boy is traumatized beyond belief at this point.

(mild TNC spoilers) so what do you think the significance of the horseshoe is for Yasha? Is it a good luck charm, or a memento from his old village before the blight came? I’m sure it’ll be brought up in the fifth book lol

TNC spoilers below:
Henloo!
So, uh Barsha (Barclay x Yasha) shipper here :)
I just wanna talk about my thoughts in Barsha in TNC.
First and foremost, I hope Barsha still becomes a reality!! I mean, no hate to Zenzi, I love her a lot <3
Also, the amount of Barsha in this book is surreal. I’m so happy that in one of the teasers “Oh no! I must work with my enemy for our shared survival!”, that it actually meant the both of them 🥹🥹 I kinda half-expected it to be about Runa and Cyril but aaaA it was them.
THEY ALSO EXCHANGED COATS like WHAAT? And now you tell me they won’t be together?? And just them trying to get the other to their side— Just shows how much THEY CARE ABOUT EACH OTHER. Even with the ending of TNC with Barclay not bothering with Yasha (tho he definitely thought of that before in TES but nonetheless, he still cares for him in TNC soo I bet he still cares for him in the next book), and him with Zenzi, I STILL HAVE HOPE FOR THEM!!!
I seriously hope I’m not delulu abt them cuz like, the signs are THERE. If they ain’t the endgame, I dunno what to think and do anymore.
Like, why plant seeds when they aren’t gonna be watered? 👀

Is anyone else confused about what time period Wilderlore takes place in? Like, judging from the clothes and the description of the world, it sounds like it takes place in the Medieval era, but then they also have more “modern” things like comics, trading cards, and posters. Is it just a fantasy world with no modern technology/electricity? I just want some clarification.

Not TNC related but there’s a spoiler for TNC
How come Soren never shows up again or is barely relevant? He only exists in the first book really. I think I might know why, it’s because if they had Audrian have a connection with every character (as in he would be the one to murder Conley instead of Soren - which wouldn’t even make sense timeline wise anyhow) then it would be a little excessive (and I’m gonna be real now that he also technically has a “connection” with Barclay they’re kinda pushing it)
If he’s going to return at any point, I think it’ll be after Yasha (presumably) turns over a new leaf, and Audrian will be like “darn I need a new partner in crime” so he springs Soren out of gay magic jail and they become the Wilderlands most toxic couple /j

I love the fact that the first “shippable” Barsha moment (when Yasha hands Barclay his jacket because it’s raining) happens on a literal ship

Do you think when Yasha kisses Barclay that Yasha’s fire lore sometimes warms (or accidentally burns) his cheek and Barclay is so flustered he can’t control his wind lore so he literally starts lifting off the ground like he’s floating

Spoilers below
I’m still 100% sure we’re getting canon Barsha after everything they went through in this book (not to mention they literally tease an enemies to lovers arc when Cecily and Shazi bring up Epic of Heroes)
Zenzi and Barclay’s romance arc was definitely bare bones ngl, but I think that might be the point? The ending hints that they won’t really be seeing each other again, and it reads more like a “first crush/romance” thing that doesn’t last long. Whereas on the other hand we have Barsha with these deep, angsty bonding moments, this push and pull sort of thing.
This book confirmed that they both missed each other, that Yasha missed being friends with everyone even if it was meant to be an “act” and while Barclay said he doesn’t know why he bothered with Yasha, it also implies he can’t fully let go of that hope/doubt he still has. Besides, Yasha’s at the point where he’s doubting Audrian now, whether he’s aware of it or not. If we’re getting Barsha, which is still very likely, I think Yasha will probably come around to the good guys in book five? I know that’s a long wait, but if we’re talking the idea of him and Barclay becoming romantic with each other then we can have that build up for the last two books.
Also Barclay is canonically bi and I feel like there has to be a reason for that other than randomly placed representation.
TLDR: Zenzi and Barclay’s romance was but a trojan horse for the REAL romance arc that’ll happen with Yasha (it’s just there so the straights don’t suspect anything /j)
MAJOR SPOILERS- YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED
Y’all my delusional ass can’t take this. Barsha isn’t canon, at least not in this book 😭😭😭
Also Zenzi was such a weird choice for a love interest? She just kinda came out of the blue and we literally don’t really know much about her. She could’ve been such a cooler side character if she wasn’t the love interest. Barsha had so much potential. Hoping it will be canon in the future but I don’t want to get my hopes up. Pre-relationship Zenzi you will always be famous

TNC spoilers under the cut (mostly just rambling)
-Okay but why are Barclay and Yasha so damn fruity in this book? I know it ends with Barclay believing Yasha can’t be redeemed but I’m still holding out the idea that Yasha will turn around in the next book since we ALMOST got through to him, the seeds of doubt have been planted.
-Also like we knew the coat thing was significant (because of that scene in Weeping Tide) BUT I WASN’T EXPECTING IT TO BE THEIR WHOLE MOTIF LIKE DAMN- THEM LITERALLY WEARING EACH OTHER’S COATS???
-Not to mention Barclay keeping the horseshoe, and Yasha’s constant need, borderline obsession of getting Barclay to join him and Audrian, especially during the scene in the hangar near the end where Yasha starts saying “we” want you instead of just Audrian.
-Them having to rely on each other for survival and bonding? Good stuff.
-I really do hope Yasha turns around though if Barsha is definitely endgame, like earlier in the book Yasha mentioned Audrian hasn’t directly killed anyone, but now someone’s gotta tell him that Audrian literally yeeted a grandma off a cliff /j
-Other stuff I liked was the new lore concepts (lore surging, wild lore), also there was a surprising amount of violence in this one, most of it being body horror like wow- I’m not saying it’s a bad thing I was just stunned
-I think this is the worst I’ve felt for Barclay in all the books, he’s trying so hard and doesn’t want to be seen as dangerous, or anything like Audrian, but the connections they have keep making him doubt himself, and the way he gets into spats with nearly everyone on the expedition just hurt my heart so much more.
-I liked all the twists in the book, even if I figured out some of them earlier on. There’s way too many to put here but I think you know which ones I’m referring to
-I know I gushed about Barsha but we’re getting a LOT more Tadg x Hasu as we’ve suspected since they had that little moment in Ever Storms, I’m really digging it even if it was mostly in the background
-really interested to know where the next book goes without Viola or Runa. I’m sure they’ll show up briefly, but that’s a bold decision to shelf two of the main characters
