“The legend was about a beautiful courtesan, a daughter of a samurai, who was "kidnapped by his enemies and was sold to a brothel". She started to call herself "Hell Courtesan" after an encounter with a Buddhist monk, Ikkyu Sojun, who was known for his taste for sake and prostitutes. According to the story, Ikkyū met the Hell Courtesan during one of his visits to the pleasure district. Santō Kyōden's book from 1809, All Records of Drunken Enlightenment of Our Country, tells that she "found him dancing with a bunch of skeletons instead of being entertained by dancers and geisha. It occurred to her that he may not be an ordinary human being." She then became his disciple and achieved enlightenment. The story first appeared in 1672, in the anonymously written book Ikkyū kantō banashi.
Dayu was the highest rank of a courtesan, and Jigoku means not only hell, but the homonym also meant "the lowest streetwalker prostitute in the Edo period".” (From wiki article on Hell Courtesan)

Yesterday’s cease-fire protest in Madison was the most unified, heart centered protest I’ve ever attended. Jewish and Palestinian families walked side by side with grief and love in their hearts. Native American Indigenous leaders brought their voices to the stage, passing on strength and hope to Palestinians in the crowd. I was among kindred spirits with hearts broken open. The unbelievable is no longer surprising in this world. Enough is enough.

Misogyny and patriarchy have disconnected us from embodiment and to reclaim it is anarchy.
The magic is this- being truly tuned into one's inner experience will manifest more authentic fulfilling relational experiences in the outer world. There’s no more pressure to over-identify with the traditional roles that leave us as a shell of who we really are. If we enjoy these traditional roles, we don’t lose ourselves in the journey.
We become increasingly disembodied over time if we don’t take responsibility to tend to our inner experience. Avoidance of the raw pain inherent to life’s compounded suffering will take us further and further away from ourselves, where eventually our authentic embodied experience of the present moment feels too threatening to be with.
Become familiar with vulnerability towards yourself. Let your heart open towards yourself. Nonjudgmentally, lovingly, approach what terrifies you within your own depths. Discover what’s beneath it all... take it in stride, there's no rush.
Fine tune your inner relationship without falling into the trap of outer comparisons and judgments. Forgive the women who are alienated from themselves and do not understand, who judge and tear down those who threaten the constructed fragile ego they live from. Lift them up if you can. Protect yourself unapologetically. ♾️
“I want to live darkly and richly in my femaleness.”
— Anaïs Nin, from “A Journal of Love,” c. Fall 1932
