Are you one of those people who do various workouts for an hour or more every day, 7 days a week, but fail to see any real results? That’s because exercising at a steady rate doesn’t yield the same results as interval training does.

Pre-hab or preventative rehabilitation helps patients heal faster after surgery, speeds recovery, and, in many cases, prevents injury in the first place.
It’s no secret that having physical therapy after an injury or surgery helps you recover faster. But what if there was a way to prevent an injury in the first place? Or what if there was a way to speed recovery from surgery long before you went under the knife?

Why are you feeling so achy and stiff in the morning? Could it be an old, ill-suited mattress? An unsupportive pillow? A poor sleeping position? Do you have an underlying health condition like osteoarthritis? What about dehydration? Maybe it’s a combination of these issues, or maybe it’s something else entirely.

Daily stresses in life can add up to the point where you feel physically ill. This is what happens when stress-related headaches occur – it’s your body’s way of demonstrating a physical reaction to overwhelming stress.
While pain-management drugs can help in the short term, they won’t fix the overall issue. The next time you have a stress-related headache, don’t reach for the aspirin.

Physiotherapy Treatments for Fibromyalgia
What Is Fibromyalgia? What Causes Fibromyalgia? Fibromyalgia Signs and Symptoms Active Physical Therapy Treatments for Fibromyalgia
Fibromyalgia is a condition that makes your entire body hurt starting at the base of the skull all the way down to your knees. Fatigue, exhaustion, weakness, and inability to stay focused are all indicative of possible fibromyalgia. Fibromyalgia prohibits patients from taking prescription medications due to its severe side effects that affect the mind and body adversely. It usually requires a combination of therapies to combat this ailment.
Fibromyalgia is a chronic pain condition that affects mostly young and middle-aged women. Although there is no known cause, nervous system malfunction is thought to be responsible for causing pain and discomfort. The overactive sympathetic nervous system that controls our fight or flight response is deemed responsible for causing fibro. The part of the brain that processes pain is aggravated by fibro creating or amplifying pain of varying intensity. Neither is it a fatal condition nor does it cause permanent body damage, but it is powerful enough to leave you disabled to function normally in your day-to-day life.
Common symptoms of fibromyalgia include painful and stiff joints and muscles, tenderness to touch or applied pressure, severe fatigue and exhaustion, problem focusing, severe insomnia, and inflammation or soreness in the affected area. Depression, anxiety, paranoia, headaches, bowel and bladder problems, and other psychological health problems are some of the additional symptoms that are prevalent in people suffering from fibromyalgia.
Fibromyalgia is an umbrella term used to define a cluster of symptoms such as muscle soreness, fatigue, pain and aches, and mood swings. It usually results after a prolonged period of stress due to chronic illnesses or chronic pain. Chronic stress and injury may further lead to various musculoskeletal ailments. Although Fibromyalgia can’t be completely cured, the symptoms and pain can be managed using a combination of therapies and proper treatment.
The cause for Fibromyalgia remains unknown, however, doctors believe that the condition affects the sensory part of your brain that processes pain signals aggravating the neurotransmitters which cause pain and amplify the sensation all over your body. Though there aren’t any known causes for fibromyalgia, there are various risk actors that need to be considered during the diagnosis of this disease.
Risk Factors for Fibromyalgia
Age –  There is no hard and fast rule that fibromyalgia affects a specific age bracket but it is commonly diagnosed in young and middle-aged adults. As your age progresses, your chances of developing fibromyalgia increase.
Gender –Women are more likely to suffer from fibromyalgia than men. Factors such as hormones like estrogen, make women more susceptible and sensitive to pain.
Family history – Your genetic history has a pivotal role to play when diagnosing fibromyalgia. If your family member suffers from fibro, it is likely that you might suffer from this disease as well.
Trauma – Trauma be it physical or emotional, triggers the conditions that are responsible for causing this disease.
Other disorders – Autoimmune disorders such as Lupus, osteoarthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis disorders increase the risk of fibromyalgia. These conditions cause chronic pain that makes the brain more sensitive to things that wouldn’t normally hurt.
The common symptom associated with Fibromyalgia is widespread pain that spreads from head to heels. Fatigue, exhaustion, and muscle pain with burning or twitching sensations are some of the secondary symptoms of Fibromyalgia. Psychological effects such as depression, anxiety, brain fog or fibro fog, headaches can be seen in people suffering from Fibro. Insomnia, irritable bowel syndrome and numbness in joints and limbs is another common complaint in people with fibromyalgia.
There isn’t a specific test that helps in diagnosing fibromyalgia. Since the symptoms associated with this disease mimic other illnesses, the diagnostic process involves ruling out other conditions.
Active physical therapy treatments enable core strengthening, improving flexibility, reducing muscle stiffness, and increasing full range of motion. This not only helps in pain reduction but also benefits overall health as the physical therapy treatment process entails core strengthening exercises.
Active physical therapy treatments include:
Core stability: Strengthening the core to maintain stability helps in maintaining balance and reducing the risk of falling. A strong core supports your spine and back muscles and acts as a stable center point. It helps in preventing injury and improves your overall health.
Muscle flexibility and strengthening: Fibromyalgia pain restricts your joints and muscles reducing your range of motion. Targeted strengthening and specialized stretching exercises facilitate mobility with a free range of motion. It helps deal with muscle fatigue, soreness and reduce inflammation.
Hydrotherapy: Hydrotherapy is a water-based exercise regime that focuses on improving muscle strength and flexibility through gentle aerobic conditioning.
Throughout your physical therapy treatment, you would be taught self-care principles and pain management techniques. These lifestyle changes should be implemented and practiced even after the formal therapy ends to enjoy the long-term results of your physical therapy.

Flat feet are caused by many different factors, including genetics, age, and weight. Having flat feet can create extremely painful issues that make it hard for you to play the sports you love, or just simply navigate on a daily basis.
Thankfully, if you have flat feet, a physical therapist can treat and suggest simple lifestyle changes such as targeted stretches and special exercises to lengthen and strengthen muscles. They can also suggest certain types of shoes and insoles that can lift your arch, improve your posture, and strengthen your core.

Herniated discs happen when the outer fibrous layer of a spinal disc (usually in the neck or lower back) tears. This allows the disc’s gel-like filling to leak out into the surrounding joint space. In many cases, this can irritate or compress nearby nerves and other structures, leading to uncomfortable symptoms like back pain, neck pain, and pain, numbness, and weakness in an arm or leg.
