Adopt a Wanderer: Finale [Part 5]
Summary: Now that youāve recovered from your cold, the both of you venture to a village in the outskirts for a weekend trip.
Note: This is meant to be a found-family series with Scaramouche, who you address as Kuni in this AU! Mostly meant to be interpreted as platonic.
Part 4 <<
Part 1
A few hoursā train ride away, you and Kuni find yourselves in a picturesque village known for their scenic views. Just a bike ride and youāll get to the beach, and in another direction you find a field of flowers that stretches as far as the eye can see - a bit further more, thereās a market with fresh produce and crafted goods.
All in all, being here is truly therapeutic to the soul, down to the kind granny that runs the bed-and-breakfast that youāve booked for the weekend. You learn that sheās been living alone for about a year now, and started this business as a way to keep busy - needless to say you and Kuni were quick to ask if you could accompany her tomorrow on her way to buy groceries, as both a way to get familiar with the village and help her carry bags.

āI wanna make art, but idk what people want to see from meāā *GRABS YOU*
Do whatever you want. You have an idea? You plagued by visions? You got a special interest? You got daydreams about a oneshot you wanna write? Do it.
āBut how will I know what gets attention?ā YOU WONT. THATāS THE DEVIL TALKING. Say āfuck itā and make whatever. I make art cuz ideas fill my brain & if I donāt see āem with my eyes Iāll DIE.
Make stuff cuz YOU wanna see it. If other peopleās eyes see it thatās cool too.

The Truth About First Drafts
First drafts are not great quality. Some lines might be fantastic, but overall, it probably wonāt be amazing. And thatās totally fine, itās normal, itās exactly what you want.
Our silly writer brains expect perfection on the first go for some reason?? Which makes no sense.Ā
Theyāre meant to be terrible, just thoughts spewing onto paper, really. Just get the dialogue out, get the story into a tangible, clear sequence of events thatās actually a readable story, not just an outline. You can fix it later <3
Think of it as theĀ āzero draftā instead of the first draft.Ā āGarbage draftā works too.
Write it out on paper with pen, or add messy notes to your documents everywhere to really reinforce the idea that thereās no pressure or expectation for perfection.
Donāt look at any of the draft as you write it until youāre done the draft. Looking back at bad writing while working on the same project can be really discouraging, so just donāt look.Ā
Once you finish the draft, wait a couple weeks. Long enough to distance yourself from it, so you can come back to fix it with a clear head.Ā
Donāt compare your first draft to published books. Ever. Those books might be on their tenth, twentieth, thirtieth draft. Itās unfair. Donāt bully yourself or your project.
Set yourself a goal, x words per day, x minutes spent writing, whatever you want. Just make sure itās achievable. Donāt set yourself up for failure unless youāre asking for discouragement.
You got this <33 Just get that draft down.Ā
When you finish the draft, rewrite the whole thing, using the original draft as a reference if you like. There will almost certainly be countless details you want to change, so rewriting the story will be easier than fixing the original.Ā
