So there was some talk recently about how Nintendo might circumvent problems with Amiibo availability by suggesting that the technology can also be applied to cards instead of figures. Personally I don't consider this an implication that some Amiibo are already discontinued, they've only just come out for crying out loud! What I do think is that it might be offered up as a cheaper alternative to those who can't afford hundreds of dollars worth of figures but still want to access the extra content that Amiibo afford.

Then I started thinking about the 3DS AR cards and how they only work as AR cards without really having much function as an actual card, but it would be nice to see some extra functionality in the Amiibo cards. Maybe Smash Bros Top Trumps? OR, consider that the full Smash Bros roster, including the three unique Mii Fighters and downloadable Mewtwo equals fifty two fighters. You know what else has fifty two fighters?

I don't know about you but I feel like Nintendo would be missing a trick if they didn't do this.

The first official source to cite the Koopalings full names since Super Mario Bros 3 is during Palutena's overview of them in Super Smash Bros for Wii U.

Presumably since Nintendo of Japan adopted the names from Nintendo of America and in Japan Bowser is called Koopa, only their first names were exported and normalized that way ever since. This may not be a direct translation however, and is more likely NoA taking it upon themselves to keep their story straight. But it's at least nice to know they remember!

Pit as he appears in Super Smash Bros Brawl. On the left is the early artwork, which was replaced a few weeks later with the right version. I remember noticing the difference at the time, mainly because of the wings. They were originally darker and much more realistically detailed. You can also see that the face was redrawn slightly and his old man hands were removed. Overall the right version looks more like an actual 3D render while the left version looks more like a digital painting.

The Miis (courtesy of MiiCharacters.com) I intend to use as my default Mii Fighters in Super Smash Bros. I wanted to use "official" "character" Miis and I think these will work pretty well. Nikki was the MC of the 3DS SwapNote app and if I can find a sword that looks like a letter opener she'll make a perfect sword fighter. Matt is the boxing coach in Wii Sports and is clearly a brawler. Miguel is the tour guide pilot in Wii Sports Resort and should fill in the gap for the Gunner. Planes and guns are both machines? Maybe there'll be some nice aviator goggles for him.

(Nobody follows me so it's no big deal) Now I'm not going to criticize you for playing the game however you want to play it, but whenever I read the phrase "I'm going to main these characters" all I hear is "I'm going to deliberately limit myself to playing this small section of the game." The Spoils of War

So I've been following the Smash Bros "leak" stream today and also the #smash bros tag on Tumblr and why are so many people saying "This character might still appear as DLC!" Wasn't one of the first things Sakurai said about the game the fact that they had no intention of putting DLC in it? It does seem strange to have those gaps in the character select screen though. I wonder if maybe some characters can ONLY be unlocked in the Wii U version then transferred over? It would certainly maintain enough mystique for the Wii U version...

All Character Cards from Tomato Adventure's Gimmick Card Battle game, as well as the card back and the tomato card which serves no purpose. I'm thinking of writing up a tutorial for Gimicka; It's pretty easy to learn but difficult to win at since it is heavily luck based and the CPU actually cheats.
