The Corvians you fight in the painted world are manipulated into being your foes, just like the first Cinder was manipulated into kindling the first flame. It is not in a races best interest to stagnate and repeat. In the painted world, the soft and gentle corvians recognized their own stagnation. These decrepit creatures realized that to wallow in faded history is to rot. They welcomed the flame, and even decided together that the flame would be the best way to burn away the stagnated rot, even if it would mean the end of their existence. When the sister of the sable church fell into the painted world, she was too preoccupied with her obsession, that she did not see that she and the corvians had the same goal... they both wanted the cycle to end. In the end, her hatred of fire destroyed her sanity, and her seduction of the king sealed the corvians fate. Those that opposed her were cut down by their own kin, and left to rot in a world that begged for rebirth. Please, burn away the rot, for the sake of the poor corvians. They welcome it. Only through fire will they have their peace. Let the feast begin.

Hello modest following,
I have no inspiration to spout nonsense about lore (which troubles me). Anyone have suggestions for a character to cover?

The high lord of Carthus embodies strength and weakness so perfectly. Wolnir was the high lord of a nation of warriors, who honored victory at all costs, after all there is no honor in death. Under his thumb, he crushed kingdoms and crafted his crown out of the stolen wealth. He was strong. When the abyss began to seep into his kingdom, Wolnir finally understood fear. He begged to the gods for some type of reprieve, and received jewelry that could stave of the swallowing darkness. It was not enough. When the undead legion smelled the stench of abyss, mindlessly, they fell on Carthus, mutilating their once great kingdom and filling it’s catacombs to bursting with those that had become tainted. Look at Wolnir now, clinging to his throne, the darkness so thick that it swallows his flesh, and all he can do is cling to the light, afraid on letting go and accepting his defeat; a defeat that happened long ago. He was weak. The abyss awaits us all. We can try and hide from it like the gods did, or wallow in its filth like the hollows of Londor. Because of the first sin, there no longer exists a middle path. Whose side are you on?

Finally, a place that follows the laws of nature. When the painted world fell into stagnation, they knew the only way to cleanse the rot would be with fire. They knew that painful end would lead to rebirth, and had the sister of the sable church not interfered, this cold, gentle world would have sloughed off its stagnation and been born anew. But there will always be those that oppose a gentle, calm death, even if the alternative is feted and sickly decay. The painter creates the next world, and it will be cold, it will be still, and it will be a home to those who have no other home. It will be beautiful.

I wish to paint a picture. Of a cold, dark, and very gentle place. One day, it will make someone a goodly home.

Dark Sun Gwyndolyn, they lied to the world. When the sun fell from the sky and the gods abandoned their kingdom, it was this trickster, this illusionist, that put a false sun in the sky. Though it cast no warmth or real light, the cursed and rotting hollows bowed to the sun, praying to the lord Gwyn who had cursed them. The ego of the line of Gwyn has far surpassed the end of ages, and by clinging on to the age of fire, they have damned the world, and themselves. May the kin of Gwyn whither like they were supposed to. Let the darkness rise. LET THE FEAST BEGIN

The Winter Lantern, they cause frenzy of the mind, and instant death to any that gaze too long at their hideous form. Why is this? It’s because they represent a lie so strong, it can tear apart the mind of our good hunter. They are dressed like the doll, our only caretaker, and it’s head is formed of the corpses of the messengers and the eyes of insight. Our hunter sees this abomination, and feels as though his only allies have turned against him. They even sing the lullaby that is supposed to calm you, but it does the opposite. Imagine seeing a friend with whom you’ve shared celebration and sorrow. Now they are before you, an abomination of their former self, you feel alone, you feel insane. The frenzy sets in, until your own body gives out and dies, just from the loss of hope. Can you ever look at your friends the same again? No, not anymore. They are all winter lanterns now... but you can’t kill the lantern, to try is to die horribly. So you avoid them. You listen to the sickening melody, a mochary of the calming song that got you through so much, but you do not turn to them, you do not attack. You simply walk away, knowing you are better off not seeing such abominations. We should learn from our good hunter.
