i tried to make this as canon as i possibly could while still filling in some stuff the writers could have explored a little more.

Here is a snip from another chapter of your gift. -*-*-*- “Pick it up!” Rumple growled, but his pleas went unanswered as she worked, oblivious to his desires. -*-*-*- I have also titled the chapters. The one I am finishing today is called "I Didn't See It There Before."

Hey hey! Your Secret Santa here! Gonna grill ya before I gift. So what Once seasons are your favorite or are you in love with the idea of a missing years fic? Are you in a spot in the world where the holiday comes in winter or summer? Do you want them celebrating the season in your season? (Wouldn't be much of an Emilie fan if I ignored the chance of you being from the southern hemisphere!) I don't do wishes, nasty stuff, but... did you have a hope or dream for this gift? Hello Santa!! Nice to meet you!! Please grill away! My favorite Once season is for sure the first season. I loved that the writers took their time to tell the story and we got so much information about each individual character and each episode ended with a reveal or a really lovely lesson to be learned. Ah. Those were the days. The other seasons never lived up to that first season. And of course, the greatest episode of Once came from that season: Skin Deep (I truly believe 1000% that Skin Deep is the finest episode of the entire series). My favorite part of Rumbelle was always their past. The development of their characters as well as their love. Just the two of them in the castle, free to be themselves without fear of judgment from any outsiders who never understood them. But I also loved seeing them in modern day Storybrooke, trying to grapple with their relationship while fighting off whatever it was that was interrupting their special alone time that I’m sure they desperately missed. 

I’m on the east coast of the US so I am for sure on the winter side. I’m originally from the west coast so I love the idea of winter during the holiday season. To answer your last question, I am very sappy haha. I hope that helps. I promise though that I will be so grateful and looking forward to whatever you gift me. Thank you for the lovely message!! :)

Mr. Gold - The Thing You Love Most

A bit dark to see the details but we have a pretty, red pocket square edged in purple and gold and a dark tie with a purple design on it. He looks very…polished.

Let’s compare that to his very non-threatening wardrobe choices of the previous day (that checked shirt we never saw again), and, even if he wasn’t going around smirking and insinuating, he is just about shouting that he remembers.

That means so much 🥺🥺🥺 I tried very hard to capture their love from Beauty and their bickering and endearing awkwardness from Skin Deep and I also wanted to revisit the toad line from 4x21 so I am really glad you enjoyed it. This is so sweet!!! I love that you included the macarons and the violin first of all, how cool is that! You really made it feel so special that way. And I love the idea of him using a spell to see the future and that he is in Gold’s body while talking to Belle. I also love Rumple’s inner monologue. I have never read fiction the way you have written as in him weighing out Belle’s responses and which route he should take while dealing with her. I thought that was really neat and totally in character. And the fact that what they are up to in Storybrooke is very realistic that it could have been on the show. That Belle warns Rumple that Regina is having a bad day so they need to hurry with their exchange and him in the back doing appraising. Like I wish we would have saw him with the violin watching Belle dance and I love her line, “That’s the tragedy of musicians- they don’t get to dance.” like how perfect was that line. And thank you for linking the tune as well! I have a new appreciation for Scottish tunes. Also, it's like a callback to “can I at least know you” from Skin Deep like look at him sharing fond memories of his childhood WITH HER. Overall, I really loved it!!!! Thank you so much. I am going to read it again and again and again. It’s more than I thought of, it’s so endearing and visually, I could see it all played out. Thank you so much <333

Regina racks up enemies like it’s the latest fashion.  At least she doesn’t task Rumpelstiltskin with conjuring her wardrobe as well as resolving her current vendetta.  Someday he’ll enjoy making her understand that she was never more than a means to an end for him.  Until then, he sits at his wheel and ponders how to make things difficult for a certain mermaid.

He nearly jumps off his stool when the doors to the hall fly open and a voice that has no business sounding so cheerful within the gloom of the Dark Castle rings out, “I did it!” Belle strides straight for him, a broad smile on her face and a silver platter balanced on her palm.  “I knew I’d get it eventually.  I wasn’t sifting the flour enough.  Thank the gods I figured it out- this batch is the last of the almond stuff!”

Hi, Santee! I hope you're well. Today I would like to know what's your favorite thing about how Rumbelle interacts. For me, it's that their senses of humor match. I imagine them going through their lives making jokes no one else finds funny, until they meet each other, and at long last are able to make someone else laugh.

hello, santa! i totally agree! the two of them have such a unique humor they share. like in skin deep with the quip about skinning children, she wasn’t even mad at that! it’s like for the first time in 300 years, he has found someone who actually finds his humor funny and not freaky. it’s very sweet. and i’m sure belle did not have anyone prior who had a weird sense of humor. her life before the dark castle was probably too mundane for her liking. 

what i love about their interactions is how (from when they are first reunited in S2) they immediately act like they’ve been best friends for years and years you know? like in the outsider episode, she comes into his shop and is like what did you want to tell me? and he is so excited to tell her and she is so happy for him and they have their dorky flip phones. they have dorky lunch dates. they talk to each other and listen to each other. they have picnics. 

also, they are BOTH massive dorks. she loves to read. he loves to collect things. there are major stories in both of these. they like old things and they refuse to acclimate to this world of technology (aside from the flip phones but even then, emma had an iphone. gold so could have afforded that but either refused to bend to technology or was too dorky to realize that was the “in” thing).

lastly, i love that they find comfort in each other even when they did not have the words (because a lot of skin deep was them not knowing what to say like when he talked about his son, there was that long silence) even with the not knowing, they still chose to spend their time in the dark castle in the exact same room. this is a HUGE castle and they easily could have avoided each other but they liked spending time together for whatever reason. in the EXACT same ROOM.

so to put it simply, i just love that they find comfort in each other and that they are each other’s best friends and biggest supporters. it’s the little things. just the two of them together is all they need. just tenderness.
