Legendary spinner of the Indian Cricket Team Ravichandran Ashwin created history on Thursday, January 25, during the first-day play of the ongoing first test between India and England cricket team in Hyderabad. The 37-year-old spinner became the first Indian bowler to take on 50 wickets in the World Test Championship.
Ashwin started the match with 148 wickets to his name in 30 world test championship matches for team India. He picked up 149 wickets by getting a raid on English batsman Ben Duckett on the fifth ball of the 12th over, and his 150th wicket was Zak Crawley, whom Mohammed Siraj caught on the opening ball of the 16th over. After Nathan Lyon and Pat Cummins of Australia, Ashwin is the third bowler in WTC history to capture 150 or more wickets.

In cringeworthy dismissal, Marcus Stoinis self-sabotages, sending stumps flying
During the SA20 game for the Durban Super Giants, Marcus Stoinis self-sabotaged, sending the stumps flying in a cringeworthy dismissal. In the clash between the Durban Super Giants and Mumbai Indians in Cape Town at Newlands Park, all-rounder Marcus Stoinis faced an unusual dismissal.
Tumblr media
Stoinis tried a pull shot in the 15th over, which was bowled by Olly Stone, after Heinrich Klaasen was out of the game. However, the pacy short delivery hurried him, causing the ball to hit the handle of his bat, lobbing him up behind square.
Mumbai Indians Cape Town bowler KagisoRabada seized the opportunity, taking a catch. To further compound the odd turn of events, Stoinis hit the stumps by accident due to his inability to control his bat’s downswing.
Rabada’s catch alone would have put Stoinis out even if the bat did not reach the stumps. With just one boundary, the all-rounder was only able to score 11 runs off of 10 balls.
Stoinis’ dismissal left the Durban Super Giants struggling at 94/5 within the 15 overs. The squad rallied admirably to secure a decent score on the scoreboard in spite of this loss.
In the Durban Super Giants vs. In the MI Cape Town encounter, the former batted with great efficiency, amassing a respectable 157/6 total. Despite a collapse in the middle order, a crucial partnership in the lower order, particularly the 39-run stand between Matthew Breetzke and Wiaan Mulder, enabled their team to surpass the 150-run mark.

Ex-Indian bowler Zaheer Khan backs Rohit Sharma to lead by example, just like the World Cup
Former bowler of Indian cricket team Zaheer Khan has placed full faith in skipper Rohit Sharma and said that the latter would play a key role in the Test series against England. He went on to add that Rohit will lead by example with the bat, which would be detrimental for the series.
Tumblr media
Zaheer said, “That has been the hallmark of his captaincy, and he leads from the front as seen in the World Cup. He walks the talk. When you have a leader walking the talk, it gives you better efficiency within the whole group. So, I think he’s a proven leader.”
Rightly so, Rohit, with his blistering knocks at the World Cup, put India in commanding situations early on in the match. Zaheer feels that could be the ploy once more from the Indian skipper.
Zaheer added, “You’ve seen him adapt nicely in England when it came to leaving the ball… You’ve seen that in Chennai, when he played a match-defining knock. Winning the toss, batting first, getting the opposition completely out in the first inning, and being instrumental in that is something that gives satisfaction to any player playing at the highest level.”

Statement of an Ex-India Star on the Potential Selection Dilemma for the T20 World Cup
Former Indian cricketer-turned-commentator Aakash Chopra opined that India can pick both all-rounders Shivam Dube and Hardik Pandya in the squad for the much-awaited T20 World Cup, starting in June in the West Indies and in the United States of America. The 46-year-old asserted that the dube reminds him of former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh as he attacks the bowler in the same way.
Tumblr media
He said that the 30-year-old should bat a little down the order for India.
Chopra said on his YouTube channel that "ShivamAtiSundaram—his power is talking loudly. I felt he was sent off slightly early in the third match. You could have sent either Sanju Samson or Rinku Singh ahead of him because he is not a grafter; he is an attacker. He reminds me of Yuvi. So you need to keep him slightly down the order.”
The former batter further added that both Hardik and Dube should be in the T20 World Cup squad.
He added, "The way he hit sixes in the first two matches, the power was evident. Some people have even said to leave Hardik and pick Dube. I am saying keep both. Shivam Dube is a real contender based on these three matches. If he does well in the IPL, it will be the icing on the cake.”

Glenn Maxwell resigns from the captaincy of the Melbourne Stars
Glenn Maxwell has resigned from the captaincy of the Melbourne Stars following the club's failure to make the BBL finals. Maxwell told his teammates following the final game of the season's against the Hobart Hurricanes.
By then, they were out of the race for finals following the Adelaide Strikers' victory over the Sydney Thunder after they lost control of their own fate by losing to the Melbourne Renegades.
Tumblr media
Maxwell has two years left to run on his current contract. This season, he smashed 243 runs at 34.71 and a strike-rate of 173.57, although his top score was an unbeaten 35 while claiming seven wickets.
The Stars are one of only two clubs, along with the Hurricanes, never to have won the BBL. They have been runner-up three times, including back-to-back in 2018-19 and 2019-20, and had the BBL8 title within their grasp before an astonishing collapse against the Renegades.
During the final game of the season, Maxwell said, "We left our run in someone else's hands, which is never what you want to do in this game.”
"After the first couple of years of having so much dominance and not being able to get over that final hurdle, it feels like the last four years of out-of-finals contention are quite frustrating.
"We feel like we've had a good enough list; we probably haven't had enough luck with injuries, timing, or replacements, and it just all seems to compound on itself."
Peter Moores, who is the former coach of England, was in his first season at the club and praised the impact of Maxwell on the club.

The Indian cricket team defeated Afghanistan in the 2nd Super Over
The match between India and Afghanistan looked done and dusted when India dismissed both openers of the Afghanistan cricket team after the 12th over as they defended a target of 213 runs. However, Mohammad Nabi and GulbadinNaib put up a sensational fightback that pegged back the Indians.
Nabi fell for 34 runs off 16, thus ending a 56-run stand between him and Gulbadin that came in just 22 balls. However, Gulbadin carried on as wickets fell at the other end. He ended up being unbeaten on 55 off 23, and Afghanistan tied the scores, thus incredibly pushing the match into a super over.
Tumblr media
Both teams ended up scoring 16 runs in the first one, which meant that a second Super Over is now needed to decide the result of the match. India scored 11 runs and lost two wickets in their second Super Over innings, which means Afghanistan needed 12 runs to record their first-ever T20I match win over India. But they ended up scoring just one run and losing their two wickets, which meant that India won the second Super Over.

Blunt Verdict of Mohammed Shami On Hardik Pandya Leaving Gujarat Titans Ahead Of The IPL 2024
The news of Hardik Pandya rejoining the Mumbai Indians from the Gujarat Titans ahead of the Indian Premier League 2024 season caused ripples in the cricket community. Hardik was the captain of GT in the past two seasons, and on both occasions, he led them to the final.
Visit: https://www.daddyscore.com/
Tumblr media
The franchise won their maiden title in 2021, and the next year, they finished runners-up after losing to the Chennai Super Kings in the final. Before the new season began, Pandya made an unexpected trade to his old side, MI, and Mohammed Shami, an Indian fast bowler, had a definite opinion on the event.
In an interview, Mohammed Shami was asked about the whole 'chapter' with Hardik Pandya, no longer the GT captain.
Shami said, “See, it doesn't matter who is leaving. You have to see the team's balance. Hardik was there; he captured us well. Both times he led us to the championship game, and we emerged victorious.  But Gujarat hadn't signed Hardik for a lifetime. It's his decision to stay or leave. Shubman is made captain now, and he will also gain experience. Some day, he might also leave. And it's part of the game. Players come and go.”
"As a captain, you have to manage the responsibility and focus on your performance," he continued. This time, that responsibility has been assigned to Shubman. He might have some load on his mind, but the players are more or less the same. So he doesn't need to worry. You need to manage players well and extract the best out of them.”

Ex-Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra on India's T20 World Cup 2024 selection
Former opener of Indian cricket team Aakash Chopra said on Sunday that swashbuckling opener Yashasvi Jaiswal is undroppable from Team India at the moment, and it would be unfair if he were not included in the squad for the ICC T20 World Cup this year in the West Indies and the USA.
Tumblr media
In the second Twenty20 International in Indore, Jaiswal's outstanding run in Twenty20 International cricket continued as the southpaw's explosive half-century helped India win the series against Afghanistan. While speaking following India's win, Chopra said that Jaiswal is now above Shubman Gill in the pecking order in T20Is.
Chopra said, Yashasvi is going. Again, the way he is batting. You will feel it would be unfair if you did not take him. Sometimes you are undroppable, meaning he is selectable. That is why he is here, making runs. Now he has gone beyond (Shubman) Gill. You won't be able to touch him now, though.

As per reports, BCCI will talk to Mohammed Shami. Topic Is "How Much Cricket He..."
Currently, Mohammed Shami is on a break from cricket. He was last seen in action at the ODI Cricket World Cup 2023, where he was the top wicket-taker.
Tumblr media
But a medical issue meant that he was not available for the South Africa tour, and he will also end up missing the Afghanistan T20I series. While some reports claimed that he could even miss the first two Test matches against England, the fast bowler has revealed that he is training well and may be fit for the series.
Shami's last T20I came for India against England in the T20 World Cup last year. Since then, the veteran pacer hasn't been called up in the shortest format by the selectors.
Now, according to a report, the BCCI may soon hold a discussion with Mohammed Shami regarding his future plans.
According to a BCCI source, "There will be a discussion with Shami to know what he wants to do going forward.” He has taken on a lot of work in the last few years. This discussion was supposed to happen in South Africa.
Since he didn't travel with the team, the management and selectors will talk to him very soon.” "It has to be clear how much cricket he wants to play beyond the IPL and Test matches."

After being demoted from the opener’s spot, Fakhar Zaman counts positives
Batter of team Pakistan, Fakhar Zaman, has declared that he is prepared to adjust his batting order in the upcoming T20Is in line with the requirements of the team. He is currently on tour in New Zealand, where Pakistan will take on the Black Caps in a five-match T20I series, which will begin on Friday, January 12.
Tumblr media
Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Zaman maintained that batting lower down the order isn’t a sacrifice. He further said he considers himself ‘lucky’ to get a look in on this Pakistani team filled with talent.
Zaman said, “I don’t view batting lower down the order as a sacrifice. If the team management doesn’t see me fitting into the opening position, it suggests they believe I can contribute to winning matches by batting lower in the order.”
“Given the competition for spots in the national team, I consider myself fortunate to secure a place in the playing XI, especially with the impressive performances from players like Babar, Rizwan, and Saim.
Zaman added, “If Babar or Rizwan come at one down, then I can come at two down. I will be happy to play at number six or seven.” Zaman also discussed the possibility of making changes to the batting order in preparation for the upcoming T20 World Cup in June.

The ex-RCB star's huge revelation says, 'Lalit Modi Threatened To End My Career'
Former fast bowler of Indian cricket team Praveen Kumar revealed that Royal Challengers Bangalore was not his first choice in the inaugural season of the Indian Premier League and how his reluctance to join the franchise earned him an extreme reaction from Lalit Modi.
During an interaction, Praveen explained that he wanted to join Delhi Daredevils because it was close to his hometown of Meerut, but he signed a paper from an RCB official, which turned out to be a contract. When Praveen approached Lalit to tell him about his choice, the IPL commissioner threatened to end his career.
Tumblr media
Praveen said in the interview that, "I did not want to play for RCB because Bangalore was quite far away from my place, I didn't know English, and the food was not to my liking. Delhi is quite close to Meerut, which would have allowed me to travel to my home once in a while. However, there was a person who made me sign a paper. I did not know it was the contract. I told them I wanted to play for Delhi and not Bangalore. Lalit Modi called me and threatened to end my career.”
Former Indian cricket team fast bowler Praveen Kumar said that ball-tampering used to be a common practice among players and added that Pakistan bowlers used to do it a bit more than others to boost their reverse swing.

Virender Sehwag, along with other cricket stars, fucked over Maldives Row.
Indians are furious about the contentious remarks made by well-known people in the Maldives about India. Prominent cricket players such as Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar, Irfan Pathan, Suresh Raina, and others have denounced the 'racist' comments directed at India and urged their fellow countrymen to discover the splendour of India's beaches.
Tumblr media
Reactions to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the union territory of Lakshadweep have been a source of controversy due to disparaging and "anti-Indian" statements made by Maldivian politicians, leaders, and other public figures.
Former opener for India Virender Sehwag responded sharply to the unjustified remarks made about PM Modi and India.
Sehwag penned on X, There are a ton of undiscovered locations in Bharat that have a ton of promise with the right infrastructure, whether they be the stunning beaches of Udupi, Paradise Beach in Pondi, Neil and Havelock in the Andaman Islands, or many more stunning beaches across our nation.
Bharat is renowned for turning all Aapda into Avsar, and the Maldivian ministers' jab at our nation and Prime Minister is a perfect opportunity for Bharat to build the exact infrastructure needed to attract visitors and strengthen our economy. Please list your top undiscovered, stunning locations.
Former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan remarked, "Every new country I visit strengthens my belief in the exceptional service offered by Indian hotels and tourism." Irfan Pathan has traveled extensively since he was 15. It is depressing to hear disparaging comments on my country's exceptional hospitality, even though I admire the cultures of other nations.
Prior to this, renowned cricketer Sachin Tendulkar praised Sindhudurg, a coastal town in Maharashtra, on social media for its stunning beaches and unspoiled islands.
We celebrated my 50th birthday in Sindhudurg 250 days ago, according to Sachin! The seaside town provided all of our needs and then some. We have a wealth of memories from the stunning settings and the amazing hospitality. India is endowed with pristine islands and gorgeous beaches. We have so much to discover and so many memories ready to be made thanks to our Atithi Devo Bhava concept.

Following India’s historic win in Cape Town, Sachin Tendulkar praised Jasprit Bumrah’s performance.
The legendary batter of Indian cricket team Sachin Tendulkar has heaped praise on pacer Jasprit Bumrah following India’s seven-wicket win over South Africa at the Newlands Cricket Stadium in Cape Town to level the two-match Test series 1-1.
Tumblr media
India chased down the target of 79 runs on Day 2 to win the match by seven wickets and register their first-ever Test win in Cape Town. The match saw India bowl South Africa out for 55 runs and 176 runs while being dismissed for 153 runs in their first inning.
Tendulkar said on the social networking site "X" that Bumrah demonstrated how to bowl on such surfaces after India's victory. "Congratulations to Team India for leveling the series!" Tendulkar contributed to "X." On a surface like this, assault may often be the greatest form of defense, which is why Markram's strategy was excellent. Well bowled by Bumrah, who showed us exactly how bowling in the channel consistently is all that’s required on such types of wickets.”

Monumental Remark of Ex-India Star As Team Gets 10 Wickets In A Session
On Wednesday, Cape Town was witness to something remarkable. Overall, 23 wickets fell on the first day of the second Test between India and South Africa, with several world records being broken. After South Africa chose to bat first, the hosts lost 10 wickets in the first session as they were all out for 55.
It's the lowest all-out score by a team against India in Tests. Then India got out for 153, losing their last six wickets for 0, which is a world record. At stumps, India had gained control, with South Africa reeling at 62/3 in their second innings.
Tumblr media
The incidents of the day surprised Indian cricket team stars too, who were commentating on the match. Sanjay Manjrekar had predicted four wickets in the first session, while Piyush Chawla predicted three wickets. Both were wrong.
Manjrekar said, "We should be sacked for our poor prediction. I said 4, and he said 3. Mohammed Siraj was not trying to swing the ball. Just watch all the deliveries and the balls that got him wickets. No one is floating the ball up and trying to get a swing. This is the South African way of getting wickets in South Africa.
He added, "There is something about an action that is repeatable. Siraj is a type of bowler; if he has 3 wickets in 5 overs, you don't want to give him a break. He would want to go on and on. He is somebody who would bowl 12 overs in a session.”
