Another shot from a short film I am finishing up about Photosynthesis. I am working with a college professor from the Scripps Research Institute in California and our goal is to be able to present this as a digital study material for graduate students. I’ll be sharing more about this project very soon.

The music is an older, quite unfinished piece that I had only begun to play around with the sample many moons ago but it seemed to match the style of the clip here so I threw it on.
-
Ill be posting more on this piece soon along with updates on my music as it continues to come to life...

Taraxacum officinale, better known as “dandelion”, can have over 150 of these flying seeds per flower. They are carried by small hairs on the top called pappi, which act as a parachute, allowing the seed to travel more than 50 miles.

These are some still from 1 shot in an educational film for graduate students I am soon to finish explaining the electron transport chain in photosynthesis.

1.14.20_ this time rendered at 8k (could only fit the 5k version on Tumblr :( ) with some close ups. Thanks to RD Textures for the awesome cement free textures.
Poster practice. 012420. For this poster I set a 15min timer once I decided on the word “Witnessing” to challenge myself to work not necessarily faster overall but on laying out the basics faster.
With this part of the series I was looking to improve my typography skills so I focused more on a traditional use of large typography and negative space.
Using a grid, one or two words, and a photo I shot, I applied this format for 8 different posters each focusing on a theme inspired by a photograph.
Using photographs I have taken, the exploration of chemical, biological, physiological, and psychological components of the image are analyzed.
I have often been interested in finding new ways to think about how one can view seemingly mundane and everyday sights by learning more about how those things work and operate on a detailed level.
Here I explored how type can be not only a visual aesthetic but also a means of introducing the viewer to a world of information that is often unappreciated and overlooked.
Two sets of compositions were explored:
1) Prioritizing the photograph with a subtle abundance of typography.
2) Prioritizing the typography with a subtle use of the photograph.
