Okay so i had a LOT of trouble with phone calls for the longest time, I would get so stressed and always ended up sounding like i had never talked to another human before

BUT then i got a job that required me to answer phones and although at first it was literally the worst and i dreaded every phone call, after a while phone calls became SO easy for me because at work I had a script to follow, so there was no adlibbing or stuttering (the worst part of convos for me personally) and I just said the prewritten lines. And it worked really well!!

Now all of my phone calls sound almost the exact same and i dont really get anxious anymore cause now getting a phone call basically just means rolplaying as an NPC for a sec.

“Hi my name is _____. Im just calling to let you know/ask/double check about (whatever the subject is). (Elaborate slightly)” then just let them respond and say “thank you so much have a great rest of your day!” I legit even call close friends with this script (minus the introduction ofc) just because having a madlibs type script for myself that I could use for almost every phone call works wonders 10/10 would recommend

anyone know why autistic people often have such a hard time with phone calls

i just had a phone call and i am genuinely nauseous afterward
