its valentines day, also jaehyuns birthday, (which is super weird and cringe ngl) and since you’re good friends you decide to throw him a birthday party. It’s a surprise party with all his friends and it goes great; everyone is having a good time, even jaehyun is having fun.

The party continues and eventually he approches you looking a little nervous. you’re not sure what’s wrong but you’ll hear him out. he doesn’t stop at normal talking distance and keeps getting closer. not a good sign. once he’s really closing in on your face he murmurs, “happy Valentine’s Day” it is then you realize his intentions and swerve your body out of the way so hard you slam into the snack table, knocking over some chips or whatever.

he looks devastated. you’re worried about the dip staining the carpet. he immediately retreats to his room and the rest of the evening you hear cigarettes after sex and muffled sobs coming from his room.

no one notices hes gone.

It’s New Year’s Eve; you’re with your family watching some generic New Years content, whatever who gives a shit. Suddenly, you receive a snap from your ex-boyfriend, Jaehyun. You guys broke up five months ago and don’t really talk, so you have absolutely no clue what he wants from you. Once you get some time alone, you open the snap.

It’s a video. He’s in the tub, drinking white wine, and absolutely sobbing. Like red, puffy, snotty, ugly crying. You think he might be singing “Last Christmas” by Wham! but he’s crying so hard you can’t tell.

scenario: you and jaehyun are roommates in a cheap first floor apartment. you two don’t speak often and really only see each other in passing as your schedules don’t align. lately you’ve noticed a roach problem so you go to consult jaehyun about possible causes and what to do. knocking softly on his bedroom door, you hear shifting and faint sniffles from within. the door does not open. you try again and call out his name. still no response. getting worried, you decide to open the door slightly against your better judgment, completely unprepared for what you’re about to see. you see jaehyun seated on his bed (no bedsheets in sight) surrounded by...roaches??? jaehyuns eyes are fixed on the tv playing the notebook before him, not acknowledging the roaches until he inclines his head towards one and says “god he really loves her doesnt he” with tears streaming down his face.

you turn away and quietly shut the door behind you. you call your friend to ask if you can stay with them for awhile.
