I wish that they would do a version of PJO, that just focuses on the gods. Like Succession meets Game of Thrones meets American Gods.

This is wrong he claimed direct descent through Edmund of Langley through his paternal line. He was also related to Lionel through his fathers mother the Mortimer. Also Cecily hiswife was related to John of Gaunt.

Edward IV was of royal lineage thrice over.

Henry had a very weak claim which is why he married Edwards daughter and stated he’d claimed the throne by conquest and not by blood.

The Tudors are lame, wannabe Plantagenets.

I find it so weird when people talk about Henry VII’s ‘dollop of royal blood’ as if royal blood really was something that was scientifically measured before someone could declare their claim to the English throne. For example, Rosemary Horrox (who I admire greatly as a historian btw) once said:

That a young man with no claim to the throne – beyond being the grandson of Henry V’s widow and the son of a great-great-granddaughter of Edward III – could in 1485 amass enough support to overthrow the reigning king can be seen as just the final stage in the cascade of depositions which followed that of Henry VI in 1461.

The thing is, when Richard of York presented his claim to the English throne in 1460 he was exactly what Henry Tudor was in 1485: the son of a great-great-granddaughter of Edward III, and many people today think he had a valid claim. You could go on and on about the Beauforts being legitimised sufficiently or not, but to measure the exact quantity of royal blood compared to other contestants is just pointless. For comparison:

Edward III → Lionel of Antwerp (son) → Philippa Plantagenet (granddaughter) → Roger Mortimer (great-grandson) → Anne Mortimer (great-great-granddaughter) → Richard of York (‘the son of a great-great-granddaughter of Edward III’) → Edward IV and Richard III (the grandsons of a great-great-granddaughter of Edward III etc)

Marius was such a little shit for this because we all know he fucking hated that guy. He wanted him dead and out of the way so he could have his beloved Pandora back.

A particularly horrible Marius x Pandora moment (and a terrible moment for Marius’ character in general) from “Blood Communion,” in which Marius essentially blames Pandora for him burning her lover Arjun alive in her presence. No shit.

Granted, Marius did so in so in self-defense while preventing Arjun from taking Pandora away from Court against her will. However, in the eyes of Marius, he has broken the laws that he himself wrote forbidding the murder of other vampires–especially because he admits he was capable of simply restraining Arjun without killing him.

Having to admit to an “un-Roman” lack of self-control and moderation is already nightmarish enough to Marius. Having to do so in a trial attended by Lestat and some of the world’s oldest and most respected vampires really fucks him up on a fundamental level. During the trial, Lestat describes him as being disheveled and hostile, particularly to an already traumatized and grieving Pandora.

According to Marius, Pandora should have stood up to Arjun and refused to leave the Court, relieving Marius of any need to intervene and ultimately kill him. Pandora makes several attempts to thank and apologize to Marius, but he treats her like complete shit every time. Hence this quote:

“Arjun tormented me for centuries. And you have rid me of him and I am thankful. I didn’t want for him to die, no, I didn’t want anything for him that was bad, but I longed with all my soul to be free of him.”

“But you couldn’t do anything about it yourself, could you?” Marius blazed. He was glaring at her across the table. “You couldn’t stand up to him yourself. No, and so I had to do it, I had to stand against him and his brutal assumptions and cover my hands in blood when the survival of our tribe is now the only thing under Heaven I care about!”

He brought his right fist down on the table.
