In order to see change, I need to do something different. I have no problem exercising (though as of recent it’s been hard to remain consistent); I love to exercise. My BIGGEST hurdle are my habits and behaviors. I LOVE to eat; happy or sad. I want to learn to be intuitive with my eating and mindful of what I am doing. So I am trying NOOM. I have heard about it over the past several years and being a therapist who loves CBT interventions, I figured I would give it a go! See you in 14 days🎉

Started another program and I am loving the results I have experienced in 21 days.
My prior coach was amazing. Our schedules no longer aligned. I preferred live workouts.
PAUSE: My personality type has a hard time with change. I recall a time when I resisted working out from home. Then I became addicted to loving at home 🏋🏾‍♀️ workouts live or recorded. Now I have a preference for live because I NEED that accountability and push from my coach during the live.
Fast forward to today, I have since joined a new program called The Kash Method and it is everything I need in this season right now. I have been working out 4 to 5 times a week again (even on my menstrual y’all) and it feels so good to get my mojo back!!

I remember when I wanted to actually toss this book when it told me to toss out my left overs. I was like oh heck’s no not if it’s an expensive plate. I then also was like that in itself is a privilege because some have no choice but to savour the left overs.
I had to rethink this because this is more so about releasing temptation to over indulge. We live in a society of abundance. The serving sizes can easily become 3 meals. But when plated in front of you, you unconsciously feel obligated to clean the plate. This could be due to upbringing of never wasting food or wanting to see the plate empty.
While at home I have to option to re-plate the meal on a smaller plate. When I am out, I have the choice to give the remainder to my fiancé, take the remainder home or YES chuck the rest.
I have on occasions ridded the excess food in order to not over indulge. I did it so freely that it reminded me of how my original state pre-surgery was a firm HELL NO.
This surgery is certainly an amazing tool. But it is up to is to do some soul searching to change habits in order to see the change we desire.

🥂HAPPY 5 YEAR SLEEVERSARY 🥂
✨Today marks 5 years since I made one of the best decisions of my life.
🌼I celebrate and relish in the fact that my body has been able to carry heavy emotion, heavy weight and heavy work throughout these last 5 years, which includes a pandemic.
✨I celebrate that I have been able to maintain a 70 pound weight-loss despite it all.
🌼I celebrate that I am able to take notice of healthy habits I have gained; such as opting for a ginger sesame chicken salad while being treated to lunch.
✨It’s the little and BIG things that make this journey oh so worth it and today’s devotional below summates these past 5 years perfectly.

✨DANCE✨
What do I love to do for healing of my soul? One of the many things I enjoy is dancing! Along with this is embracing my BODY.
✨I wasn’t always happy with my body and movement. Even after losing nearly 100 pounds I was still not confident in certain movement; especially exercising. I tried many different programs and the coaches always encouraged me to push.
✨Although I gained 20 of those pounds back, I REALLY had to learn how to re-embrace my body and movement.
✨I often compare how I used to be able to do certain exercises pre-pandemic to even last summer. One thing my coach has taught me is to not compare myself to where I used to be. That will only hinder my progress and discourage me.
✨MOVE forward is what she suggests and so I do. Enjoying the moment in the here-and-now. Accepting radically what I do have control over and releasing the shoulda coulda woulda’s.
