So Astruc just compared Chloe fans to abusers

Yes, I am more than aware of that, and I have a lot to say in response.

TRIGGER WARNING: I WILL BE TALKING ABOUT EMOTIONAL, PHYSICAL, AND SEXUAL ABUSE IN THIS POST. IF ANY OF THIS MAKES YOU UNCOMFORTABLE IN ANY WAY, PLEASE DON'T READ THIS.

This is the most disgusting thing Astruc has ever said. Most of the other things he has said in the past have ranged from frustrating to laughably hypocritical, but this is too far.

Love or hate Chloe, what matters is that she is a fictional character. She has never harmed anyone outside of the fictional, as in not real, events of Miraculous Ladybug. The fact that Astruc has the fucking audacity to imply that Chloe is just as bad as an abusive partner is absolutely despicable.

I don't even know what's worse: The idea that Astruc thinks Chloe is just as bad as an abusive romantic partner and that people who defend her have just as much psychological damage as real abuse victims, the idea that Astruc has such a trivial view of abuse that he thinks it's perfectly okay to compare people who like Chloe to abuse victims, or a combination of both.

And this is rich when you consider the relationship Chloe has with her mother. Her mother has emotionally neglected her daughter her whole life to the point where she can't remember her name, and yet Chloe is still trying to get her attention to the point where she not only endangered lives to do so, but she outright asked her mother why she didn't love her. Are you telling me that doesn't quality as an abusive relationship? The episode actually views Chloe connecting with her awful mother as a good thing. How is that not like an abuse victim giving their abuser another chance?

But it gets even worse. Someone else compared people who defend Chloe to rape apologists. And Astruc simply agrees with them. He essentially views Chloe on the same level of depravity as a fucking rapist.

I am a man who tries to see the good in almost everyone I meet, but raping someone is a crime I cannot forgive. There is literally nothing to be gained from rape other than some sick and twisted form of pleasure for the monster who commits the act. And Astruc thinks Chloe is just as evil as a rapist.

This is a man who is in charge of a show aimed at children. The fact that he was willing to make this comparison and has no problems with it shows just how unhinged he can get with how he views his show.

How the hell has he not been blocked from Twitter yet? How do people keep supporting him? How do you justify someone who compares people who like a fictional character to FUCKING RAPE AND ABUSE VICTIMS???

If nobody is going to acknowledge this, or if Astruc ends up deleting the tweet in an attempt to save his public credibility without an actual apology, I will still keep this post up to remind anyone who sees it of what he said.

Because unlike Astruc, I take domestic and sexual abuse seriously.

So to sum up then, in the space of one episode…

1. Chloe’s loving relationship with Andre is scrubbed out so that she only ever cared about what he could give her.

2. Chloe’s touching childhood friendship with Adrien is rubbed out so that all she ever cared out was his money.

3. Chloe’s occasional appreciation of Sabrina is wiped out, and now she treats her as little more than a slave held prisoner in her closet.

4. Please don’t tell this wasn’t all done on purpose to hype up her ‘perfect’ sister’s value compared to her, because I won’t believe you.

5. She’s FAR worse here even than in S1, so I guess noted Chloe Hater Thomas Astruc has finally got his way of portraying her as a ‘soulless monster’ (his words, not mine).

6. Not only has she jumped off the slippery slope in terms of behavior and development, she’s also incredibly boring now. Who wants a one-dimensional bully character who’s only purpose is to make life hell for everyone? Not me. Why do you think almost everyone hates one-dimensional liar Lila?

7. I could say the same thing about Zoe, who’s only personality so far seems to be professional victim and antithesis of Chloe. This is also an incredibly tedious trope, and it remains to be seen if she’ll develop from there (considering what happened to Chloe’s dead-end arc, I highly doubt it).

…Yep, that’s about it for now. Safe to say I’ll be watching Queen Banana through closed fingers later: if there’s something I’ve learned about this show’s treatment of Chloe, just when you think they can’t go any lower…

…They go ahead and ‘surprise’ you again by giving her a banana gun and seating her atop a 50-foot monkey. Hurray!

If instead of a "kill on sight" monster, they find a creature that isn't down with murder and is actually just kinda lonely, and upon meeting the Camelot Crew is immediately like, "New Friends!!!"

Everyone is Very Confused, except Merlin and Lancelot (he's immune to this kind of magical fuckery by now) but they're also not being dismembered and/or eaten so they're just gonna roll with it, I guess?

Or better yet, a creature sees the Camelot Crew and says, "Ah. My children now." Because let's face it, every one of them is ripe for adoption.

Leon? Already made of Mom Energy, easily transferred into Older Sibling Energy. Understands the Cain Instinct with every fiber of his soul.

Elyan? Rocking the chaotic sibling vibe from day one, needs no help there.

Gwaine? No father, rough family relationship, impulse control in the negatives.

Percival? Big but soft. Literal orphan. Protective of smols. Great for hugs.

Lancelot? The Unproblematic Child that cultures a facade to hide the fact he's a chaotic neutral that's always down for Shenanigans and Possibly Treason.

Merlin? Has a loving mother already, but must be separated from her for long stretches of time, and one can never have enough moms.

Mordred? An actual baby.

Arthur? Genocidal father. Homicidal uncle. Fratricidal sister. In constant need of a hug. Wants to prove himself even though he doesn't need to.

It would just be great if there was some kind of monthly Monster Club meeting and everyone else is like, "What the fuck, I thought we voted to eat knights?"
