this silly thing is based on an old story my mom loves to tell:

in the mid-80s, when home computers were brand new, she got drunk at a friend’s house and they started mucking around on the friend’s brother’s macintosh. she dragged the mac paint icon to the trash to “see what would happen” and when it actually worked they both started panicking and had to call the brother to help them restore it.
