The beauty of traveling is that you connect will all you could dream of. During our recent 4,000km #roadtrip , we met in #kasongo 🇨🇩this group of kids repeating what they had learnt in #classes. The girl showing the back is the #teacher icon asking her friends both #maths and #alphabetic questions. Yeah, you heard it right, look at how keen they are and imagine their #dreams . This caught our eyes and their level of education surprisingly impressed us given the inadequate #school #infrastructures. The first toughest moto ride we had was from #Ubundu to #kisangani. For 131 Km (including about 8km walking), we had to drive 8 hours. The road is completely impracticable for vehicles and trucks. Boat ride From Kindu to Ubundu... @congolocalguides embarked on a such #boat (#baleiniere), the only available transport at that time, heading to Ubundu (and then a road to Kisangani). With over ten stops on villages alongside the #congoriver , we had a great adventure with friendly people on board despite some annoying noises and smell from engines, mosquitoes, night ride in heavy rains... Congo River has so beautiful and unique landscapes that make it one of important wonders to explore when traveling inside the Congo 🇨🇩 This took us three days for only 300km, with average of less than 10km an hour. The worse experience of our previous 4,000 Km inside #congokinshasa (and #rwanda #zambia) was the 245 Km drive from #kasongo to #kindu. Astonishingly, there are still areas where people keep #hunting #monkeys and eat them. This monkey was killed by a hunting gunfire. When we saw it, we immediately stopped and educated the people around on advantage of protecting such species, not only for #wildlife protection, #sustainabletourism, but also to prevent epidemic diseases such as Ebola.
