Caught in an animal trap, of the old-fashioned trigger plate and hinged jaws style, with the trap concealed under a layer of snow or fallen leaves and firmly staked in place so that when the character stumbles into it and springs it unawares they're just as trapped as the intended animal, the initial snap of the trap sending them crashing to the ground, stride brought up short by the force of spring-loaded tension driving blunt teeth into their leg with crushing pressure, clawing frantically at the metal jaws clamped round their ankle but so frenzied and weakened with pain they're unable to pry them open, tethered by the short length of chain trailing from the trap, helpless as any fox, wolf, or bear as night encroaches and they're left lying in the churned imprint of their struggles, their own blood, and the ground's seeping cold; at the mercy of the elements until the faint approaching glimmer of a lantern appears...

A character self-tending wounds that are located such that they’re difficult or impossible to see without the aid of a mirror, angling themselves such and leaning in close to catch the reflection, having to concentrate to compensate for the reversed mirror-image in the delicate process.

A character shielding their companion from the elements with their own body- positioning themselves as a wind-block; sitting so their shadow is cast across their companion's face; leaning over them to provide scant shelter from the rain; curling close to lend their warmth; tucking their companion's face close and cupping a hand over it to block wind-blown grit or sand; acting as a human shield from pelting hail or sleet; cradling their companion in their lap to insulate them from the seeping cold of the ground...

The little eyes-screwed-closed, sharp-deliberate-breath-through-nose, hard-gulp, corners-of-mouth-grimaced-tight, furrowed-eyebrows, suppressed-flinch, tense-set-to-shoulders a character does to steel themselves for pain

Removing a character's clothing to better access/treat an injury- easing a boot from a rapidly stiffening and swelling ankle; peeling blood-sodden fabric away; tearing a rent in a garment wider to see the wound beneath; carefully working a glove free finger by finger; pulling the good arm out first in order to slide the other sleeve down the wounded one; loosening a collar or tie; undoing fasteners that are now out of reach to the wounded wearer; lifting the weight of heavy layers from a frame unable to bear them; removing constricting items of clothing; putting aside a mask; extricating someone from a helmet; fumbling with unfamiliar items of armour or costume; unwinding makeshift bandages; cutting off clothing either carefully at the seams or with no regard for anything besides immediate access to the wounds...

A group of characters burst inside carrying their injured companion on a makeshift stretcher- a door, a plank, a litter of branches and jackets, a blanket, a tarpaulin- and those already inside scramble to clear room and prepare to treat what injuries they have in a sudden influx of urgency and activity.

A character, usually very reserved and self-contained, has their filter/self-control eroded by fever or illness or bloodloss or exposure and starts pleading and clinging to their companions for the comfort and contact they've craved all along but never before dared to openly express- which shocks their friends who had never realised cuddles and caresses were something the incapacitated character wanted and are heartbroken to think they've been depriving them of them; they hesitantly but wholeheartedly oblige with all the warm contact they can provide.

The painstaking slow process of soaking off a bandage to change the dressings on a wound, the old blood-crusted bandages coming away gradually as the caretaker tries their utmost to keep from causing the wounded character any unnecessary pain.

When a character, at the end of their strength, is staggering from surface to surface leaning heavily on every available support and stops for a moment, sagging against whatever they're leant on, slumping almost sliding down the surface that's the only thing keeping them even marginally upright, with their breath coming in ragged pants, and as they brace an arm against the supporting surface, head bowed, their laboured breathing, noisy and strenuous, is concentrated in the space between.

A character, too weak to sit up/stand on their own, is being supported by a companion but the companion needs both hands free for a moment to rearrange pillows/unlock a door/etc., so the companion drapes both the weak character's arms around their neck and instructs them to hang on, the supportive hold turning into a feeble embrace as the weak character clings to their companion and the supporting character reaches around them to complete the task.

When an unconscious character is rolled onto their side by caretaker(s) using their shoulder and hip for leverage and there's a just the slightest lag as their limp form is rolled and their head stays in its former position before lolling over with the rest of the movement.

Slings, yes, but also the highly specific iteration of the forearm being held diagonally across a character's chest and securely swathed in place- arm and chest bound together in bandages, entirely immobilising the arm, to protect the shoulder/upper arm/clavicle; fingers just visible curling over opposite shoulder and able to be clasped in comfort by other characters but sleeves hanging slack on injured side while shirt stretches awkwardly over bulk of arm & bandages across chest and balance left slightly off kilter and arm so securely swaddled there's not the slightest give for even accidental movement.

An injured character trying to get as far as physically possible from their own limb which is attached to their body whilst enduring a painful wound tending; stretching the wounded limb out from themselves, turning away and refusing to look, curling the rest of their body in tight, not willingly moving the injured limb but letting the character tending to it do all the necessary manipulation, leaning into whatever surface or person they're sat against as though that will get them farther away.

A character just on the start of the road to recovery and still weak as a newborn kitten propped up in bed on a mound of pillows, utterly limp against them, sinking back into the downy pile, unable to support themself at all, the soft bolster the only thing holding them even slightly upright, the pillows having been carefully arranged and fluffed by their companions so as to support them and cushion any injuries.

A character, physically unable to carry the injured character but the injured one no longer able to keep their feet even with support, reduced to half-dragging them- arms thrust under their armpits- wrapped around their chest from behind, desperately clutching them in a tenuous grip, shirt riding up as they slip down and chin lolling to their chest- the struggling character panting with exertion as they stumble backwards in a determined effort to get their burden to safety.
