 bb-8  has  already  resigned  herself  to  her  fate.  there  is  no  chance  of  a  rescue  mission--  especially  not  for  a  droid.  her  optical  lens  focuses  on  his  face:  kylo  ren  stands  where  ben  solo  once  stood.  the  memories  are  vivid.

sit on rey’s lap / selectively accepting.

   She was sitting in the sun, her body slumped  against a tree, her feet bare and wiggling among the grass. It was peaceful, and quite beautiful if you asked Rey. These days were common for her. She’d spend the early morning POURING over Datapads, and then later hopping off to some secluded  region in the forests. The only person who knew of these little trips was BB-8, everyone else was left mostly in the dark about it– she valued her privacy. Though BB-8 was different in comparison to the others. Rey seemed to open up  more with her and her alone. It’s why Rey would tell her where’d she run off to after training, or where she’d be when she can’t sleep. BB-8 was one of her only friends on base, one she could easily rely on– so it wasn’t all too surprising seeing her roll up. There’s a brief exchange of pleasantries, BB-8 was worried, Rey only chuckled a bit– she was certain her napping  was the cause of it. She couldn’t tell how long she was out there, it was too nice, the cool crisp air seemingly KNOCKED  her out. She felt a bit sheepish really. But still, Rey didn’t mind. The company was appreciated, especially if it was BB-8. The sun was setting, and the beautiful array of oranges and purples easily  left the young girl awestruck. But before she got too consumed be it all, Rey quickly pulled her gaze toward her friend. 

“ You wanna stay and watch with me ?  ”

   It was seemingly redundant,  considering she was going to stay regardless. But BB-8 still bobbed her head, and rolled into her lap, just as they’d always do. Rey’s arms carefully snaked around her round form, a bright SMILE  seemingly etched onto her face. For the remainder of the evening, they just sat there watching in peace, until night finally fell.

   SHE BEAMS  at the small Droid, chapped lips curling into a delighted  smile, her body slowly lowering to their level. The question isn’t a surprise, nor is it one that makes Rey QUESTION herself. Instead, it’s met with a confident nod– she wasn’t going anywhere, not now at least. This was her family, she couldn’t leave them.

“ You’d think I’d leave any time soon ?  ”

   Head tilts, a rough hand rising to gently stroke their head.

“ I’m here for as long as you WANT ME.  ”

 the  astromech  is  immediately  on  alert  (  bb-8  knows  all  about  emergencies  in  the  resistance  )  despite  the  sudden  jolt  awake  and  the  first  to  come  into  view  as  soon  as  her  optical  lens  focuses  is  her  twin.  she  risks  a  glance  towards  poe--a  lump  underneath  the  covers--and  another  glance  at  the  chronometer,  indicating  that  it  is  still  the  middle  of  the  night.

     beebee!              ‣‣ beebee!

 her  voice  is  as  hushed  as  can  be  (  humans  are  meant  to  be  sleeping  and  droids  are  meant  to  be  charging  )  but  the  worry  is  still  evident  in  her  tone.

     deeeeeeeeedeeoooooo... ? ? ?             ‣‣ is everything okay?
