So the weirdest of all complaints that I see for Mon-el on my dash is, why did he “keep” the necklace or why did he kiss his wife in front of Kara. And I’m like??

They didn’t break up, it was almost like losing someone to death... He had to leave earth forever & she gave him that necklace as a parting gift. In the future where he lived for seven years wearing that necklace, she must have been dead for centuries. People hold onto dead loves, still move on & get married… that’s life! She’s not going to just yank it off like a crazy person when she happened to see it while grabbing his collar. And he just fixed his shirt & got back to saving his wife & his friends’ life on the ship instead of walking back into a DEO prison cell for no real reason other than not behaving as expected.

As for the kiss, his wife who just had a brush with death, recovered… People kiss their spouses in situations like that & its not a normal thing to expect the reflex action or first thought to be the feelings of an ex from seven years ago.

As for the necklace, if she wants the gift back, they can talk about it like adults do. He’s not going to dramatically hand it back like they just had a fight or breakup and she’s not going to demand it because this is not a normal situation. They parted still in love, in a very death like situation, they are quite literally in very different places & just because Kara is hurt doesn’t mean that Mon-el or his wife are in any way wrong or responsible for her pain.

You can say that he should have told her earlier, but then again he didn’t know how to tell her anything. He’s probably been through a lot & had priorities over having an extremely weird conversation with an ex he never thought to ever see again & for whom the parting is way more fresh than it is for him. It’s not like he lead her on, he said no twice when she kissed his forehead, apologized after that monologue and Kara herself felt he was being distant.

Start bashing him for merely existing just because it’s getting in the way of your ship? Well I wonder who used to do that when Mon-el’s actions were getting in the way of their ship. I get that the show is called Supergirl but he doesn’t just exist to be a punching bag for shippers when he’s not dancing perfectly to their beats like an obedient monkey.

He just returned, maybe try celebrating that? Or enjoying his new story? Or is Mon-el stanning just limited to shipping Karamel?

Hey I’m new here and I don’t know if you’ve already talked about this...but how do you see the rest of the season going down?? Like do you have any theories on how mon els storyline will unfold?? Do you think he will leave at the end or stay??

honestly, i’m not the best person to ask, i’m very “team chris leaving sg” so i’m pretty biased but i guess i can try put some of my thoughts into words. so i guess we have 3 options that would work

1) the most popular theory of the marriage being fake/manipulation. this is probably the most likely outcome considering the cw loves it’s angst and pointless storylines, but this angers me. i don’t think it’s fake, aka him knowing he’s not married and pretending, he’s being too loving to imra and it’s clearly hurting kara and i don’t think he’d do that, he’s a good guy. so that leaves manipulation, aka, imra is manipulating and tricking mon into thinking he’s married to her, to either keep him from being distracted or to make him go back to the 31st century again or whatever reason, this is where i take issue, i don’t like the idea of him being manipulated, especially considering imra would have kissed him knowing he was being mind controlled (which is just big yikes 💀) i also don’t like the idea of him not moving on in 7 years, it’s unrealistic that something that happened for like 1 year would effect his life so much he couldn’t move past it without manipulation. it also means the rest of the legion, aka his team who he brought together, were deceiving him too..they’d have to lie and pretend it’s true to him and that’s super insulting to him as a leader and team mate. not to mention them making imra a villain who uses her powers to make a man fall in love with her instead of what she’s meant to use them for. the only way this is slightly justifiable is if she’s doing it for the greater good for the mission, but i can’t see how that would work yet, maybe when we see more from them. also high key makes the legion characters romantic plot devices and reduces a great female superhero from the comics to a love interest :/

2) their relationship simply ends. he realises he still loves kara, ends it with imra and moves on, therefore staying in the 21st century. idk about this one because he genuinely seems to be in love / believe he’s in love (if theory #1 is right) with imra, so i can’t see him just deciding he doesn’t love her. he’s been pretty open to kara and even said he’d talk to her about it, defended imra to kara, had cute scenes with her, so i’m not sure he’ll just realise he doesn’t love her, especially considering if it IS real, he married this woman and has been with her for potentially 4-5 years

3) chris is leaving at the end of the season. he said himself he wants to go home, he didn’t even hesitate to ask for help to get back, and no one at that desk batted an eyelid when he asked, it’s as if they didn’t care if he went back to the 31st century, like he doesn’t belong there anymore (which logically, he doesn’t) throw in the fact he declined the invitation to a party where every main character, and important person in kara’s life, was there, and he wasn’t, maybe that’s to show he doesn’t fit in anymore? maybe alex’s comment of “you might be here for a while” is literal, and he really will only be here for a while? i’ve had my suspicions he could be leaving based on a lot of things i won’t get into publicly, and also a few things i’ve found out recently that i simply CAN’T talk about publicly, so i guess it depends on what his contact is/if he wants to get out of his contract.

so ridiculously proud of the character mon is this season. he’s already proving to be 10x the character he was last season and he’s only properly been in 2 episodes.

he founded the legion of superheroes, he’s smart, serious but soft, powerful, he’s the hero he was always meant to be

Honestly you and your sister legit have real mental health problems. You say all time that you would take bullets for him, would jump in front of a moving train for him, would die for him, would want him to punch in your face, to stab you. Those are violent, unhealthy thoughts. Don't even tell me those are joke. You kinda have a sick, perverse obsession with Chris and everything you say and act literally go against what Chris stands for and fights against. I feel bad that he has 'fans' like you.

the episode last night was amazing, i’m so incredibly proud of chris and i’m insanely excited for the new mon-el we saw last night, i can’t wait to see the rest of the season and to see how even more developed his character is, it’s what chris deserves, he’s finally getting the arc he signed up for and im so happy for him, once again i’m in total awe of christopher wood’s talent, he never ceases to amaze me
