When I was writing the Fortnight music video, I wanted to show you the worlds I saw in my head that served as the backdrop for making this music.  Pretty much everything in it is a metaphor or a reference to one corner of the album or another. For me, this video turned out to be the perfect visual representation of this record and the stories I tell in it. Post Malone blew me away on set as our tortured tragic hero and I’m so grateful to him for everything he put into this collaboration. I’m still laughing from getting to work with the coolest guys on earth, Ethan Hawke and Josh Charles (tortured poets, meet your colleagues from down the hall, the dead poets). I still can’t believe I get to work with the unfathomably brilliant Rodrigo Prieto on cinematography and my team of dream collaborators: Ethan Tobman (production design), Chancler Haynes (editor), Anthony Dimino (1st AD), Jil Hardin (producer) and Dom Thomas (executive producer). Parliament aced the VFX as always. Joseph Cassell, Lorrie Turk and Jemma Muradian made these tortured looks come to life. The entire crew made this a dream to shoot. The Tortured Poets Department. An anthology of new works that reflect events, opinions and sentiments from a fleeting and fatalistic moment in time - one that was both sensational and sorrowful in equal measure. This period of the author’s life is now over, the chapter closed and boarded up. There is nothing to avenge, no scores to settle once wounds have healed. And upon further reflection, a good number of them turned out to be self-inflicted. This writer is of the firm belief that our tears become holy in the form of ink on a page. Once we have spoken our saddest story, we can be free of it.

And then all that’s left behind is the tortured poetry.

Oh Taylor, I will never meet you and I know you will never see this but I kinda just need to vent 😜. When the eras movie was about to premiere in theaters my aunt asked if I was going to go, I told her no because I didn’t have the money for a ticket (cause I’m broke and work in retail 😝). She then offered to have me stay with her for a night or two and take me to see it together since I wasn’t able to go to the Tampa shows. My aunt is EASILY one of my favorite people in the world and has supported me in being a swiftie since before I even became one. This women threw me a Taylor themed graduation/birthday party since I was class of 2022 and ordered the class of ‘22 decor and themed the rest of the party after the colors. She has listened to me talk about you for HOURS and I mean I can go on and on. A few weeks before the movie premiered she was diagnosed with stage one breast cancer(she has been cancer free since January), and still offered to take me to see it. This movie quite possibly could not have come out at a better time, releasing after Barbie summer while we’re embracing girlhood we made friendship brackets and got dressed up to go see it and it’s a memory I will never ever forget. So after a crappy year which I won’t go on about since this post is already kinda long, I just wanted you to know in case you see this that you mean a lot not just to me, but to all of us swifties and swiftie adjacent fans lol. We love you and I just wanted to make sure you know that 🫶🏻
