This drawing is the last piece of the pattern work series, using the same technique of all the other pieces of this series, including the three piece sets. where I chose a colour to focus on, this being grey, which I then used the opacity tool to add layers to the piece to create the pattern above.

This is also a piece from the pattern series, the main focus being the colour green and the aim being to build layers by using the same colour yet changing the opacity to create a pattern.

This is the sixth piece part of the singular digital pattern series, in which I have used the same techniques as the previous digital drawings, yet focusing on a different colour, light blue.

Following on from the last post, this is another experimental piece, where I used black as the background colour and used a digital software with the focus of the colour white to create the pattern above, and only decreasing the opacity of the main colour (white).

Using the same idea of sticking to one colour palette and reducing the opacity to build a pattern/ layers, this piece having the focus of the colour purple.

The next set of posts are singular drawings I created on a digital software, following the same techniques as the previous three posts, yet using different colours, as you can see this one is using one shade of black yet the opacity decreasing each time.

Again, following on from the previous post, this is the last three piece set of pattern designs, in which I wanted to experiment further with light colours as I liked the way the worked together on my first three piece set. Yet, for these drawings I made the colours lighter by decreasing the opacity of each colour used in the pieces and using pastel inspired colours.

This is the second three piece set, in which with the same technique and focus of the previous drawings, using digital drawing softwares to experiment with freedom and building layers with pattern work. Whereas, in comparison to the previous set, this three piece is focused on dark colours to create a different feel and connotations.

After the Japanese Summer School activities, I carried on with my own summer work before starting semester 1 of year 2, in which I wanted to experiment with the theme of freedom in art, having no boundaries and not worrying about the end result of my work, and leading on from creating textures I wanted to carry on working with layers and building them with patterns. The pieces above are a three  series with the main focus of light colours to create a warm presence. I used an apple pencil and iPad with a digital drawing software to create these digital drawings, using a swoosh motion to create the main element of the pieces.

The two images you can see above is a painting I created from the second tutorial of the workshop created for the Japan Summer School, which focused on experimentation and using materials to build layers and create textures. Both images are of the same painting but in differently lit background, the top one being light and the bottom one being shaded, as I wanted to show a contrast in lighting and how it effects paintings.
