Seize the day is not living the best and craziest life ever every single day, but rather making the best of the days you have, which will be boring, sure.

Play your favorite song as you scroll throught tumblr. Don't save those fancy chocolate for special days, or those cool stickers for the perfect notebooks. Wear the clothes you actually want to wear, and text the people you want to talk.

Seize the day is to not wait to be happy. Most of it will be boring, and there's still stressful responsibilities to do, so you might as well try to make it the best you can y'know

I am going to lament. Ghostbur is so DIFFICULT to write. If he's a background character, he's pretty easy, but if you want to put a genuine focus on him and go into depth? Jesus fucking christ.

Not only do you need to have a solid understanding of c!Wilbur in general because Ghostbur is inherently a piece of and an extension of him, you have to understand that while Ghostbur is part of Wilbur, he's not all of Wilbur, which makes his reactions and perception of things very different. But not completely different.

A lot of Ghostbur's thought process is intentionally ambiguous due to his memory loss and general tendency to shove down negative emotions. That gives a bit of wiggle room in terms of interpretation, so you'd think that would make it easier, right? IT DOESN'T. THAT MAKES IT HARDER. If Ghostbur barely knows what the hell is going on in his head, how am I supposed to know?! Memories and feelings slip through his fingers like sand! At any given moment he could be spontaneously remembering one of the worst experiences of his life and then immediately forget! I have to decide what thoughts and emotions are informing his actions one second and then completely change them the next (within reason and specific scenario basis obviously), and if this is written from any perspective other than Ghostbur's I have to do this without explicitly mentioning it! Because he's allergic to negative feelings despite CONSTANTLY being sad and refuses to talk about it!

There is such a fine line between not infantilizing him but not making him completely aware of everything, too. So what is he actually aware of? What does he actively choose not to speak on, and what does he not notice? What do I clue the readers in on, and what do I leave up to subtext and interpretation? Are there things that he notices, but immediately loses? If he notices something, can he keep that information with him, and if so, for how long? What is the timer on his memories!!!!

Like you just. You gotta put SO much effort into this funky ghost. He has so many constantly changing variables and you gotta acknowledge that (sometimes SECRETLY) while keeping him consistent. I think part of it is because as much as Ghostbur wants to be whole, he isn't, and he was never meant to be. Writing for Ghostbur is writing for a fragmented version of a person, stitched together with vague notions of familiarity and what a dead person thinks being alive is supposed to feel like.

Im ngl im confused on why i keep seeing post related to the "dsmp fandom is dying!!!" Its.... not? Its been alive an still is alive??? Theres still consistent artist, books, comics, videos, xyz still being made by fans today. Its not dead, an its not really dying either. Just because there may be less, doesnt mean dsmp as a fandom is dead. If you wanna stop thinking its dead, contribute! Thats what fandoms all about baby.

Another reason im confused is that its not an "old" fandom either. Yes, i grew up with it in a crucial part of my life, but that doesnt mean its old. Old is fuckin- idk. Lord of the rings fandom. Star trek. That shit is old to me. Not dsmp??? Hell, team crafted even isnt THAT old. An it was kinda at the start of minecrafts life to begin with!! Yogscast too!! Theyre older, but still, not really that old.

I get that a lot of audience were also like me. Grew up around 15-20 with dsmp being a big portion of their life during lockdown (obvs theres differences in many ppls pov's, but a lot of accounts had posted similar feelings to mine, this is why i make the general assumption.) Yeah, life was weird around that time, an the lockdown making peoples time perceptions funky, its gonna feel older than it actually is.

I dunno. I just wanted to ramble bc it just makes me sad to see people talk about dsmp as if its dead an rotting away when its not. It may not be continuing anymore, but theres still so much damn life in that bad boy.

my least fav phenomenon in fandoms is when something happens and other people immediately go "fans of (blank) you should watch (blank) instead!!!!" i feel like they never get the point, sure maybe its similar to what i was enjoying before but i still dont want to be told to just move on to something else. shockingly there are layers to why i might enjoy something, it doesnt have to be just for the story or content. what if i like the person? the people? interactions and honestly everything about whatever fandom someone is recommending in replacement are never similar in the ways i want it to be
