XI - Justice Featuring: Alnuthea, Loxodon Paladin

I love this girl sm and I'm really happy with how this first card has turned out. I think there are some things I could have probably improved, but most of them are small details and there comes a point where I know if I don't stop I'll keep messing with it forever.

I had a lot of advice from my friends about various things and they put up with so so many screenshots of wips sent to them, but I'm glad I got there in the end!

Here's a (somewhat) finished sketch for that project I mentioned in my last post. And what is the project? Tarot cards (major arcana only) of my OCs and D&D characters in a somewhat art deco style.

And first in the lineup is my longest surviving D&D character, my paladin Loxodon, Alnuthea. I love this girl so much and it was a lot of fun drawing this (and somewhat updating her design slightly)

While I do have enough characters of my own to draw a complete set, some characters either aren't my faves or didn't really fit with the cards that were left. So I will be drawing a couple of my friends D&D characters too to fill in those gaps, or because their characters are partners of my own characters. For example, the judgement card will have a D&D character belonging to the same game as Alnuthea, but who is played by someone else, and in game our two characters are dating <3 (credit will be given when I get around to those characters)

But I'm hoping to at least get the lineart finished on this soon, even if the flats and shading take a little longer!

Hi hello it’s me, I’ve returned from the depths with an offering of art. As somewhat predictable it’s art of my girl Moxie because apparently I can’t get enough of drawing this girl, even if the drawings are few and far between.

I actually dew this mostly as a way to get used to drawing on a new ipad I treated myself to over crimmas and I gotta say I’m enjoying it so far. It’s been nice being able to draw bundled up in bed all cosy when it’s cold af in my flat.

In other news completely unrelated to this drawing, I’m finally starting work on a p big art project, and I’m hoping I’ll be able to keep up motivation for it, so expect things to be posted here at some point. I’m getting better at pacing myself with my art, and returning to work on pieces after a break of a couple of days, rather than rushing to try and get them done in one sitting, so I’m hoping that’ll help either this upcoming project too. So, watch this space!!!

Hi! I'm alive! I just haven't drawn much at all since art fight ended lol. But I did restore my faith in my ability to draw traditionally, and faith in my ability to draw faces. These were done while sat in a cafe with a couple of friends and the people were images used in an art discord server as part of a challenge (I didn't take part in the challenge itself but there were lots of good face references to choose from!)

I would have loved to do more for art fight this year, but I was kinda burnt out with a full time job. Hopefully next year I'll be able to book a little time off in July to get some good attacks in! :D

My pokemon OC Miles suffering from the poisonous gasses produced from their pokemon. There are certain drawbacks to being a poison type trainer...

Composition-wise I wish I’d moved Miles over to the left a little more rather than have them so centred, but by the time I’d thought of that I’d already pretty much finished and I couldn’t be bothered to go back and change it (that and it was late and I needed to get up in the morning for work)

An experiment in black and white and the importance of a single colour.

It might seem a little grim but I had a lot of fun drawing this and I’ll probably try more black and white stuff in the future. I think it’s pretty fun drawing in exclusively black and white, it really makes you think about lines and forms and negative space and stuff like that. All that and I also work in ceramics where my colour palette is limited to two colours, so this is also good practice for that.

My friends and I did a “draw this randomly selected pokemon from memory in a short space of time” thing and these are my results.

Highlights include whatever happened to poor lopunny. I remember exactly two (2) things about necrozma and that’s claws? and black. Both me and my friend heard staravia and thought “ah yes, staraptor” and onix is (to quote my friends) my “biblically unsettling” son and I love him

Back on my D&D bullshit! :D

My friend is a first time DM who’s going to be running Curse of Srahd (we’ve both played it before but never finished it) and I had way too much fun with the Haunted One background, specifically the demonic possession one. This is Vix and they’re a drow, though due to the demonic possession they ended up growing in some partly incredibly fucked up horns. They often get mistaken as a tiefling, and their traumatic experience made them mostly mute. DM allowed me and everyone else playing to start the campaign knowing Common Sign Language (CSL) so I can communicate with the party, and also for the fun benefit it might give us when we’re trying to get around somewhere sneakily.

Despite the number of characters I’ve posted here, I don’t actually get to play that often. Two of the games I’m in are in a sort of indefinite hiatus and the only game that’s running consistently atm is the game I DM, so it’ll be nice to actually be a player for a while :D
