another late night ramble:

something that made me feel terrible when i thought i’d be leaving the fandom for good was that for nearly 2 years of being a fic writer, i cared so much about making sure every single piece i wrote was as perfect as humanly possible that there were so many incomplete drafts i wished i’d shared but couldn’t because i was spiraling for months over the fact that there was one tiny flaw i couldn’t fix. i have this habit of taking every passion project i’ve had way too seriously, i only posted 8 fics in two years when i have 30+ that are nearly completed in my google docs, and even writing this right now i’m double checking & triple checking each word because it needs to sound just perfectly right or i won’t be able to sleep peacefully otherwise. this is an issue i’ve had for ages and it was my biggest regret when i thought i’d be leaving permanently because i thought i hadn’t shared enough yet, there were so many ideas in my mind that i never got to put to words, and i was so caught up in all the nonsensical details no reader on earth would ever notice that sometimes i’d forget that this has always just been a hobby :,) i still do sometimes. i try to relax a little and remind myself that it should be enjoyable, and it is (or was at some point), i’ve just ruined the fun for myself now
