i know the in-text divide is that obi-wan sees anakin as a brother and anakin sees him as a dad. but tbh. to meeee. they’ve ALWAYS been a teen mom & the kid she didn’t want. like what is obi-wan’s decision to take anakin on at the end of tpm if not a girl telling her parents she’s keeping the baby, goddamnit, too late to back out now? and what is aotc if not an adult obi-wan yelling at teen anakin going “i gave up COLLEGE (free-wheeling knighthood) for YOU you BRAT and your FATHER (the force) is a DEADBEAT so i have to raise you ALL on my OWN…..” and anakin is like “ma just because that man hurt you doesn’t mean i can’t find love…” . & so forth

“His failure at Yavin haunts him for all the obvious reasons.  And one very private reason.” “His name is Skywalker.” Anyway, you ever think about Anakin thinking about how he failed at Yavin, not just because the Rebels destroyed the Death Star and got away, but also that he failed on a personal level?  To recognize his son.  To realize what had been kept from him for all those years?  What he tried to do to Luke while they were screaming around in their fighters around the Death Star?  That he failed to capture Luke then? Look at this trash bag of a human being who may feel a spark of remorse for all the trash bag things he’s done in his life but is smothering it with anger and hate and suffering at what was kept from him, what was taken from him, what has set him down this confusing path! I hope it haunts him, what he almost did and what he failed to do, both because I love pain and suffering in my own heart when I read Star Wars and also because Anakin deserves it, but also I can’t stand his suffering and want him to find his way back to the light already, SO BASICALLY I’M JUST GONNA CRY OVER ANAKIN SKYWALKER YET AGAIN.

Ok I understand the sentiment of “Leia is clearly Anakin’s girl bc she’s fierce” and I don’t disagree, at all.

But the specific way some ppl talk abt it really makes it shine through a lot of ppl remember Padme as meek and soft (probably bc they only remember her for the final scene she begs Anakin to come back on Mustafar). Girl she was a very popular senator, she was diplomatic, wasn’t afraid to make decisions if she thought they were right, SHE WAS A BADASS.

I’m much more a proponent of “Luke and Leia both perfectly encompass core traits and values of BOTH their parents equally in some way, despite never meeting them”
