Hey guys, it's Kazzy here!
I started this blog back in the fall as a fun way to share CaptainSwan content and celebrate such a beautiful ship with such talented shipmates, and I've really enjoyed all the fun this blog has been. However, over the past few months, I've noticed my interest shifting into other fandoms, and running this blog has felt more like an obligation than a privilege. Because of that, I'm stepping down from my role of running this blog.
However, I love this blog and its events very much, and would love to see it continue for many more happy holidays to come, so I'm looking for a replacement who would like to take over running this blog. This would entail planning and organizing holiday events, making posts, finding mods if necessary, and any other tasks related to the blog (or delegation of such tasks.) I'm also willing to still help out as a consultant/graphic designer/tech support/mod for future events, especially the first few as you get the ball rolling.
If this sounds like something you'd be interested in, let me know, because I'd love to see this event in good hands!
Happy sails to you all!

Captain Swan Christmas Reruns presents: Last Chance
Recommended by: @booksteaandtoomuchtv
What we love: It is just so sweet and cosy!! I adore this fic so much!
"Last Chance" by kazoosandfannypacks
Pairing: Captain Swan Rating: General Word Count: 1K Summary: Killian had been hoping to tell Emma about his feelings for her at some point this Christmas break, as their friends visited with her brother. As the holiday came and went, Killian feared he may have missed his chance. Fortunately for him, one last Christmas decoration has yet to be put away- and it may be just what they need to break the ice. Tags: au, fluff, captain swan, one shot, modern au, christmas, snowing, first kiss, oneshot, college au Author's notes: This one's based on a prompt that @everything-person sent to the discord a while back! It was probably jsut after Christmas when it was sent, and I wrote it not long after that, but it sat in my drafts for a while. After a poll revealed y'all wouldn't mind a Christmas fic in May, I've decided today would be an awesome day to post it. I hope you guys enjoy it! Shoutout to @booksteaandtoomuchtv for betaing!  Killian smiled at Emma across the room as she took down the decorations on the tree, just like he'd smiled at her when she'd helped put them up, and like he'd smiled at her when they'd helped her sister-in-law make cutout cookies, and when they'd all gone caroling and got hot chocolate afterwards, and when they exchanged gifts on Christmas morning, and when they all sat down for a Christmas dinner- and really, like he'd been smiling at her since the day he met her at a campus-wide fall festival- one that he'd almost decided not to attend; one that she'd've skipped out on if her friends hadn't dragged her along.
But how fortunate was he that he'd gone, and that he'd somehow fallen in with her friend group there, and how readily they invited him to join them at various activities afterwards. Already they'd celebrated a few birthdays together, set up a trunk for trunk-or-treat, gone on a few hikes- and now they'd even celebrated Christmas together.
It really was kind of Emma's brother to invite him and some of their other friends to stay over the week for Christmas. It was nice to get away from the dorms for a bit to celebrate a small town Christmas.
It also would've been the perfect opportunity for Killian to tell Emma how he felt about her. Christmas magic in the air, blanket of snow across the town, the lights, the excitement, the merriment, the wonder- but as Killian helped her brother, David, take down the last string of Christmas lights, he realized he'd probably missed his chance at a Christmas miracle. Tomorrow they'd head back to school, back to classes and teachers and homework- back to normal.
And, unfortunately for Killian, his normal life only involved liking Emma from a distance.
"And it looks like another family- and friends- Christmas is officially in the books." David said, wrapping up the last string of lights.
"Thanks for having us," Killian said.
"Our pleasure," David said, "the more the merrier."
"Allow me," Killian said, taking the string of lights from David, "you've already done more than enough for us."
 "Alright."
A bright green tote labeled "XMAS LIGHTS" sat just between this room and the living room- where Emma had been taking the last of the decorations off the tree. Killian wondered if he could steal another glance at Emma without anyone noticing, but his glance revealed she was coming that way, with a string of lights of her own to put away.
"Here," Killian said, walking past the tote to take the string of lights from her.
"I can get it," she said, holding out the string of lights at arms length away from him.
"It's really no trouble at all," Killian said. He stood in the doorway between her and the box of lights, and when she tried to walk past him, he sidestepped into her path. She tried again, and he blocked her again, and again, and the same result.
She sighed as she handed him the bundle of lights. "You really are taking the fun out of this."
"Am I?" Killian asked with a smug smile.
Mary Margaret interrupted their conversation to yell something past them both, to David.
"Oh, David! We still need to take the mistletoe down too!"
Killian knew which doorway the mistletoe hung in almost too well- he'd seen David catch his wife standing there a few too many times- and it happened to be the very same doorway that Killian and Emma were now standing under.
 "No," Emma said, "I already…."
She looked up at the ceiling almost confused, like she hadn't expected the mistletoe to be right where it had been for the last two weeks, so much so Killian almost didn't expect it to be there either. But Killian looked up too, and sure enough, there was the mistletoe, right above himself and Emma Swan.
"This is almost too good to be true," Killian thought. Fate had given him one last chance at a Christmas miracle.
"I thought I took that down," Emma said.
Killian swallowed the lump in his throat- it was now or never.
 "Swan?"
 "Yeah?"
"We're under the mistletoe," he said, trying not to chicken out as her eyes met his, "and there's this tradition…."
"Do Christmas traditions still count after New Year's?" Emma asked.
"I sure hope so." Killian thought.
"The last chance of the season," he said, "may I?"
Emma smiled and nodded, and Killian's heart skipped a beat as she said, "Yeah."
He closed his eyes and leaned forward, meeting her lips with his for the most perfect moment of his life. Her lips touching his was like a meteor shower, or a firework- beautiful, entrancing, dangerous- and done and over with way too soon. He pulled away, smiling, wishing he could've made that moment last longer, but not wanting to push her further than she was willing to go.
He thought his heart was beating so loud she could probably hear it, but realized instead that the sound was their friends clapping. He didn't turn to look at them though- in that moment, all he wanted to see was Emma.
"Is that the best you got?" Emma asked.
 "What?" Killian asked.
"It's like you said," Emma said, taking from his hands the bundles of lights that had gotten them into this beautiful mess in the first place. She threw them aside, probably landing them somewhere near the tote they belonged in.
 "What?"
"'Last chance of the season-'" she said, "might as well make it a good one."
She placed her hands on his neck, stood up on tiptoes so her lips were parallel with his, then whispered, "May I?"
Killian couldn't get out much more than a nod and a breath that sounded almost like a "yeah," not even seeing this moment coming in his wildest daydreams- Emma Swan asking to kiss him.
She slid her hands down to his collar and pulled him closer, drawing his lips down into hers in a kiss that blew the last one out of the water.
He placed his hands on her waist, trying to experience everything he could in this moment- his lips exploring hers, her body in his hands, the lingering taste of gingerbread in her breath, a subtle pine smell, her warmth- holding her closer than he'd ever dared dream she'd let him. He was so lost in the moment he didn't even hear their friends cheering around him as he wrapped one of his hands further around her side, resting her neck in his other, pulling her into a dip and holding her as tightly as he could, pulling her even closer as he kissed her.
For the past three months he'd been watching her from a distance, wishing he could tell her how much she meant to him, wishing he could even just take her hand, ask her to get coffee, hold her at a dance, walk her back to her dorm and kiss her goodnight. And now that he had her in his arms and had her lips on his, he had three months of catching up to do, and one kiss to do it in. Every moment spent pining from a distance equalled another ounce of passion and love he needed to communicate in this kiss.
But as all good things have to, this kiss came to an end. Emma pulled away, her hands still on his neck, her eyes still sparkling in reflection of his, her breath still lingering on his lips. They both breathed heavily, still lost in their own little world a moment longer, until he gently stood her upright again.
"Wow," he whispered, hoping his voice wouldn't be drowned out by the cheering of her friends around them. "Swan, that was…."
"I know," Emma whispered, a look in her eyes that said it still wasn't nearly enough.
But she shook her head and blinked back to reality, and he as well noticed the crowd of spectators around them. Then he looked back down to Emma, her cheeks flushed with the most perfect shade of red he'd seen that whole Christmas season.
She smiled as she let go of him, albeit a bit awkwardly, and he watched her walk away from him, not taking his eyes off her until she'd walked out the back door and disappeared from view. The rest of the group, apparently, had decided the show was over and got back to whatever they'd been doing before Killian's life changed forever like that.
Killian ran his fingers through his hair and took a deep breath, leaning against the doorway to brace himself and his thoughts. He'd just kissed Emma Swan. He'd practically made out with her- and if he could do that, what was stopping him from finding a moment with her later, telling her how he felt, asking her if she wanted him to be something more to her.
He smiled as he took down that fateful mistletoe plant, now filled with hope that maybe things wouldn't be so normal when they got back to school- or maybe normal would be something even better now.
Maybe he hadn't missed his chance with Emma after all.

Captain Swan Christmas Reruns presents: Emma's First Perfect Christmas
Recommended by: @booksteaandtoomuchtv
What we love: EVERYTHING! There are so many wonderful things in these glimpses like decorated Christmas pancakes, Captain Cobra Swan getting a Christmas tree, Killian learning about the mistletoe, and so many more lovely moments. I loved it when it was my Secret Santa gift and loved rereading it again this year.
Merry Christmas to my @cssecretsanta2020 giftee, @booksteaandtoomuchtv !!! It's been so hard not to spoil the reveal, but I'm happy to announce that it's me!
For your gift, I've written you a lovely little fic, (partly based on our Captain Swan Christmas Headcanons lists!)
Emma's First Perfect Christmas by kazoosandfannypacks (General Audiences, 9K words, 9 chapters, CaptainSwan fluff, CaptainCobraSwan)

Like many things in this world, Emma had been indifferent to the holidays, as long as they kept their difference. She’d never had a good Valentine’s date, never been able to afford a real Halloween costume, and couldn’t find much to be thankful for before she arrived in Storybrooke. A lot had changed since her arrival, and even moreso after they broke the first curse- suddenly she had a child, and later parents, and a grandma, and friends, and even later a husband- she now had a family, and the problem with families is that they love to celebrate, they love nostalgia, and sentimentality- and her family excelled at that. They’d started celebrating Thanksgivings after Ingrid sacrificed herself to stop her curse- during those few weeks when everything seemed like a happy ending- though they were then still a couple years off from their happy beginning. But now that they had happiness, and they were living a normal life, Mary Margaret had announced at Thanksgiving dinner that they should add another holiday into the mix- Christmas.
“Why couldn’t she have picked Halloween next?” Emma thought as they drove home from Thanksgiving dinner, “Or fourth of July? Or groundhog’s day- though the Bill Murray movie might hit a little too close to curse on that one.” “Are you alright, love?” Killian asked. “Yeah.” Emma looked at him with a half second’s fake smile, then fixed her eyes back on the road. “Why do you ask?” “Well I’m not the best driver in the family,” Henry piped in from the back seat, “but I’m pretty sure you usually stop at an intersection.” “I’m fine,” Emma said, “Just got a lot on my mind.” “Are you sure, love?” Killian asked. Emma didn’t need to look at him- she could tell by the concern on his voice what worry to read on his face. “We can talk about it later.” Emma said. Killian nodded out of the corner of Emma’s eye, then tried to change the subject. “So, Henry, tell me more about this Christmas we’re going to be celebrating.” Emma tried to just nod along and not stress out as her boys changed the subject to exactly what was weighing on her mind. “It’s a time to celebrate with family,” Henry said, “with lots of peace and hope and goodwill and joy. It’s the closest thing this land has to magic outside of Storybrooke.” “Fascinating!” Killian said. “What brought this celebration about?” “It’s kinda like the birthday of a god, or a king, or something like that.” Henry said. “So like King’s Day?” Killian asked. “King’s Day?” “It’s a holiday from the Enchanted Forest, on the King’s birthday.” “How do you celebrate King’s Day?” Henry asked. “Commiting crimes.” Killian smiled. Emma hit the brakes a little harder than she should’ve as they pulled into the driveway. “You celebrate King’s Day by committing crimes?” She raised an eyebrow at Killian, who flashed a charming smile. “Well, other people celebrated it with festivals and banquets and paying extra taxes. We celebrated by committing crimes.” “Let’s not bring that tradition into our celebration, okay?” Emma asked, “Christmas and stealing don’t exactly go hand in hand.” “Unless you’re the Grinch.” Henry said. “The what?” Killian asked. Henry ignored him, apparently struck with a realization. “Mom, do you think the Grinch is real too?” “The Grinch?” Emma asked, as they got out of the car. “Yeah, and Whos down in Whoville.” Henry added. “Henry, I’m pretty sure that one’s just a…” she was about to say “just a fairytale,’ but as Captain Hook stepped out of her car with a plastic bag of thanksgiving leftovers, she realized she might need to suspend a little more disbelief. “I don’t know. Maybe?”

Captain Swan Christmas Reruns presents: But, There's Only One Bed
Written by: @artistic-writer
Recommended by: @kmomof4
Summary: Whilst trying to fly to Norway to visit his brother at Christmas, Killian Jones encounters a grounding snowstorm and a charmingly beautiful blonde who keeps him company at more than just the airport.
What we love: It wasn't written at Christmas time, but was set at Christmas time and was just SWEET!!! Even if the HOT factor was OFF THE CHARTS!!!

What we love: This was the first fic that I read as chapters were released instead of all at once, and it was both painful and beautiful! There's the perfect amount of fluff, angst, heat, and plenty of twists that'll have you sitting on the edge of your seat until the very end!
I’ll Be Home in December (Maybe We Can Remember Us)
Rating: T
Summary: It’s the Nolan’s Annual Christmas Eve Eve Party and Emma had found herself in a bind. She convinced her brother and sister-in-law she’s been dating someone for the last year. The only person Emma Nolan can think of to ask for help is the man she swore never to speak to again.
Killian Jones.
CSSS for @resident-of-storybrooke🎄🎅
A/N: Merry Christmas @resident-of-storybrooke!!! This has been such a fun fic to write and I hope you enjoy it! This fic is basically done aside from some editing of later chapters and reworking a few more scenes, so all chapters should be posted within two weeks!
Also, I have no idea how this turned into a coffeeshop au. It kind of just happened by accident and I just rolled with it 😆
Enjoy!

The silver embossed lettering reflected off the recessed lighting in her kitchen. The words mocked her, even though she had seen a picture of this invitation several weeks before, after helping to proof read the wording.
Even worse, the sticky note attached to the back felt like a slap to the face.
Can’t wait to finally meet him!
Emma had no right to feel angry at the words. This was her own fault.
This was what she deserved after lying to her brother and sister-in-law for the past year.
She knew it was only a matter of time before her lie caught up to her. Emma thought that perhaps she had a bit more time to put it off.
But the Nolan’s annual Christmas Eve Eve Party in Storybrooke was next week, falling on a Friday. Mary Margaret had insisted Emma bring her boyfriend.
The same boyfriend that Emma had told them about last year during that same party.
It had slipped out by accident.

Captain Swan Christmas Reruns presents: Care Package
What the author loved: Short and sweet :)
What we love: The history and mutual pining that has clearly been building between CS between Nolan Christmas Parties was such a lovely touch in such a short story. The ending still has me smiling.
Care Package
a/n: I would normally never write a Christmas prompt in November but we had our first real snow today (crappy commute and all) and put up the office decorations so here you go.
From this prompt list.
Killian settles into his spot on the couch, drink in hand, and lets himself sink into the comfortable, over-stuffed cushions while Mary Margaret reaches for the next present under the tree. He’s been coming to the Nolan’s Christmas party for a few years now and he’s not ashamed to admit that the gift exchange is the highlight of the evening. He hasn’t had anyone to trade gifts with since Liam passed, and while the first couple years he was buying for people he’d only met once or twice before he’s got a good sense now of everyone’s personalities and preferences.
(He drew Mary Margaret this year — possibly the easiest task he’s ever been assigned. The woman loves anything to do with birds.)
“Killian, this one’s for you,” his host says and he sets his eggnog aside to take the box from her.
It’s one of the largest under the tree but is surprisingly light. He picks carefully at the wrapping, passing it off to David to add to the pile as everyone else groans and urges him to just get on with it already. But this is likely the only gift he’s going to open this year and he’s damn well going to take his time and enjoy it. Annoying his fellow guests is just a bonus.

Captain Swan Christmas Reruns presents: A Midwinter Incident
Recommended by: anon && @bookstoreromantic
What the recommenders loved: Lieutenant Duckling and snowed in and sweetness.
What we love: This Lieutenant Duckling tale is so sweet. This was such a great take on Princess Emma. And the descriptions are so atmospheric that you will be transported to a winter lodge while you read.
A Midwinter Incident
Tumblr media
MERRY CHRISTMAS @imhookedonaswan!! I was your @cssecretsanta2k18 Secret Santa, I’m sorry I was super fail on the messages this year and that this is a little late. It was lovely to get to know you when we did talk, and thank you for letting me indulge in our shared love of Enchanted Forest/Lieutenant Duckling/oh-no-we’re-snowed-in-whatever-shall-we-do tropes!!
This did get very long and meandering, because what even is shortfic anymore, but I hope you enjoy it anyway!
The air was brisk and smelled of frost as the small company trekked through the forest. There were wagons and soldiers and servants, but in the very middle of the procession rode a cluster of officers on all sides of a young woman dressed warmly in rich furs. Princess Emma sat upright in the saddle and hoped her face didn’t betray the weariness she felt from the early start on the way to the royal hunting lodge. She knew there were good reasons for rising and moving out well before the sun had risen, but as it neared midday she rather wished they’d slept in and taken to the road a little later.
“Nearly there, your highness,” one of her officers said conversationally.
Maybe she wasn’t as good at hiding her weariness as she thought. “I remember, Captain Jones,” Emma said, though it had been a long time since she’d made this trek.

Merry Christmas! I wrote you a 4.5k fic because I am ridiculous. It’s about Christmas in our world, but also I expanded on the Enchanted Forest holiday I made up in another fic, Longnight, which is the solstice. (which is why I am giving it to you today, because it is the solstice!) So it’s two holidays for the price of one! I hope you like it! :)

Captain Swan Christmas Reruns presents: Keep It All The Year
Recommended by: anon
What the recommender loved: I love this Killian.
What we love: This fic starts out with a Killian who is in such a dark place and you just want to hug him tightly to you. It is such a journey to go on - there were tears. But, it is now one of my favourite fics!
To Keep It All The Year (1 /4)
Tumblr media
Not long ago @katie-dub asked me if I was planning to write a Christmas fic. I said sure, I’m doing the CS Secret Santa. And then I thought about it, and I thought actually maybe I’ll write a little something for Katie because she is a delightful human, a kind and supportive friend, and one of the people I feel honoured to have got to know over the past year, and she deserves every nice thing. And then I started to think about what she might like and I had IDEAS which of course soon grew far beyond my original concept. And then @thisonesatellite egged me on (with REAL EGGS) and here is the result: an angry and broken Killian, a struggling single mother Emma, a precious wee Henry, and the healing power of Christmas magic.
Katie, my dear, I can’t begin to tell you how much your support has meant to me these past few months. You are the loveliest and most loving person, and I hope you enjoy this little offering 💕
SUMMARY: Killian Jones is a broken man, betrayed by everyone and everything he thought he could believe in. He’s all but given up on life until a fateful meeting with bartender Emma Swan and her son Henry gives him a reason to live again, and a chance to redeem his past.
All it takes is a little Christmas magic.

PART ONE: THE PAST
He’s still broken when he meets her. Broken and bitter and angry. So, so very angry, the kind of angry that lodges in a man’s chest just below his heart and and rots there. Rots, but doesn’t rot away. The putrid tendrils of it twine and twist through him like the tentacles of the kraken he heard tales of as a boy. They fuse to his bones and mix with his blood and he welcomes them. His is a fury born of betrayal, by everyone and everything he thought he could believe in, and it’s all he has left of his life. It’s all he remembers how to feel.
He’s come to this place for escape, for peace, but there’s precious little of either to be found. Not here. Not in this neighbourhood of once-lovely houses built tall and proud and so sturdy their ruin takes decades, a slow attrition of cracked windows and crumbling corners and decay that sinks into the walls and consumes them from within. But it’s the best he can afford on what he has that’s his, and he finds that the atmosphere suits him. A broken place for a broken man.
He doesn’t have to work so for a while he doesn’t, spending his days walking the streets of the city on feet that carry him eventually, inevitably, to the docks. And there he stands, sometimes for hours, watching the horizon and the boats that move across it, stewing in his bitterness.
He prefers to do his drinking alone on the ratty sofa that doubles as his bed, his only company the blinking neon and the traffic noise, and the smell of pot smoke that wafts from the apartment below. His thoughts are tumultuous then, memories of writhing seas and wind and waves and Liam, of courtrooms and lawyers and just accept the payout, Commander Jones. They’re the bloody Royal Navy, they have resources you can’t hope to match.
Sometimes though his solitude becomes oppressive, a heavy darkness that sucks the air from his lungs and drives him back onto the streets where he breathes the filthy smog in heaving gulps and then again he walks, among the crowds but not of them, until he finds a bar where people look like they won’t ask questions.
It’s on one of those days—of all the good days in the year on Christmas Eve—that as he trudges through the greying slush barely a block from his apartment his eye falls upon a door he feels sure he’s never seen before. It’s not in any way a special door, plain brown wood and a foggy window with writing he can’t quite make out, but a jolly little wreath is hung upon it and though he feels about as far removed from the Christmas spirit as any human creature could be, he finds himself pushing it open and going inside.

Captain Swan Christmas Reruns presents: I'm Falling for You
Written by: @winterbaby89
Recommended by: @kmomof4
Summary: All it takes is one text to make Killian’s world stop... one text from his best friend since college to simultaneously break his heart and breathe new life into him, effectively turning his world on its head.
Killian is Emma’s rock. The one person she knows that will be there for her time and again. When the break up from hell, and residual fallout, puts her best friend, once again, in the role of caregiver and comforter, Emma can no longer deny the feelings that have been brewing within her ever since college.
Can the magic - and questionable mixture of alcohol and pain meds - during the holiday season finally force the confessions they’ve both been suppressing for years?
What we love: Best friends to lovers during the Christmas season and Walsh gets exactly what he deserves. It's quite lovely 🥰😈

Summary: {mid-season three divergent holiday angst and fluff} Emma visited by one very special ghost while she and Henry are in New York; you guides her through the Christmases of her past to see what could be waiting in her future... if she will only let herself have it.
