May Writing Challenge
Tumblr media
This May I want to get back into writing. I’m not at all consistent. I’m at a point where I don’t feel like I can work on bigger things, because I can’t guarantee myself to keep working on it in a week from now. So I will take this month as a training month to get back into the habit of writing. I will do this by writing (or trying to write) 200 words every day. Topic is irrelevant. How great my writing is that day is irrelevant. Just 200 words written down. A habit taking 21 days to form was debunked, it does take a lot longer, but 31 days are a start I would say. These are already 140 words, so 200 words every day are hopefully manageable. You're more than welcome to join me if you like 😊

It was months since Caretaker last saw whumpee. ... Since they were taken from right under their nose. When they got the call whumpee was found, caretaker must have broken every road law under the sun getting there.
Caretaker heard them before they saw them. Their sobs weren't sad whimpers, they were crying out as if they were in pain. Medics rushed out other victims that were also captive. The ones that could be moved were taken away; the ones in worse condition were being held and treated on the spot.
Whumpe was... One of them. They were barely recognizable, caretaker almost thought the call was a mistake.
Frightened eyes locked onto theirs from within the band of medics. They changed and widened, the panic turning into what looked like a wave of calm.
Their eyes. Caretaker knew them by their eyes.

Day 9 - Self-Doubt
⚠TW⚠
- Swearing
- Mentions of Suicide
- Fluff (I need a break from the angst)
- Post-Calamitous
Enjoy!
~~~~~~~~~~
Karyme laid in bed, eyes fixated on her hand. A silver band covered with small diamonds sat on her finger, glistening.
Karyme wasn’t sure what to say, but she was thinking. Thinking about how surreal this all was.
Now that it had happened, she was surprised she hadn’t noticed the signs. Kaiden’s ideas, how mysterious he had been acting, then his insistence to get their promise rings professionally cleaned..
Dear Selyna, he really had her fooled. But honestly, she was glad she didn’t notice, because the surprise was perfect., and considering she hated surprises, it proved just how amazing it went.
She recalled the memory in her mind, over and over again, just in awe of the fact that it actually happened..
~~~~~~~~~~
The couple walked down the path, hands interlocked, and silence between them as they enjoyed the peace and quiet.
This was a normal occurrence for them, with Kaiden randomly dragging Karyme along to do something.
It was a bit different though, since they were both a bit dressed up. Kaiden said they would go for dinner afterwards, so that must be why.
Regardless, the walk was nice. Karyme was enjoying herself, the combination of greenery and the lack of people making for a perfect place.
"It's beautiful, isn't it?" Kaiden says suddenly.
Karyme nods softly, a very subtle smile forming on her lips.
Kaiden smiles back. "I knew you'd like it." He pauses, looking forward as a hand slips into his pocket. "You know, I've been meaning to say something.."
Karyme raises her eyebrows a bit, eyes staring at him in curiosity. "What is it.?"
He laughs softly. "Before you start overthinking, it's nothing bad, if anything, I'd say it's great."
Kaiden comes to a stop in the path, urging Karyme to come closer to him. They interlock hands again as the stand, looking at each other.
"When we met.. it was so crazy how hard I fell for you, even with only knowing your name." He says embarrassingly. "I just knew that, I wanted to talk to you, and get to know you.. I'm glad I did.."
"I don't regret loving you, even if I never.. was the best at showing it, or when I let others dictate how I should feel.." He continues. "Even when we fought, when you were upset because of me, I couldn't stop loving you."
Karyme sighs. "Kaiden, it wasn't-"
Kaiden stops her. "But it was, baby, and that wasn't fair to you." He smiles at her. "I fucked up, and I'm glad you managed to help me realize that."
Karyme shakes her head. "Could've been.. less harshly done.."
"You did what you had to do, Karyme, I had to almost lose you to appreciate you." Kaiden replies. "But really, it's been a.. rollercoaster for us, hasn't it?"
Karyme sighs. "That's an understatement, but yeah, I guess it has been.."
Kaiden nods in agreement. "With all that's happened, with your family, our friends, our own personal problems.. I couldn't imagine going through all that without you."
Karyme squeezes his hands. "We made it though, didn't we?"
Kaiden smiles. "We did, and I want.. us to be together through.. everything."
Karyme raises her eyebrows a bit. "What are you-"
Her heart seems to stop as Kaiden pulls a box out of his pocket, slowly kneeling on one knee.
Karyme bends over, completely in shock at what's happening. But yet, Kaiden just admires her.
"Sweetheart.." He starts, holding Karyme's hands in his. "I know how badly life has treated you, and how you were deprived of so much.." He looks her in the eyes. "Let me love you forever, yeah?"
Karyme is in utter shock, tears brimming in her eyes. "Kaiden.."
Kaiden takes a breath, and finally speaks.
"Karyme, will you marry me?"
Karyme is openly crying at this point, trying to catch her own breath. Finally, she speaks quickly.
"Yes, yes, yes-!" She cries in excitement, a tone that she hardly has.
With those words, the ring is slipped onto her waiting finger. There are tears from both ends now as Kaiden immediately stands up and hugs Karyme tightly, spinning her around.
They share a kiss as the overwhelming emotions overtake the both of them in an instant, the happiness overshadowing all they had to overcome to get to this point.
And after 6 long years, they could finally put their love for each other on their ring fingers.
~~~~~~~~~~
Karyme sighed, laying back onto the bed, twirling the ring on her finger.
Finally, Kaiden came into the bedroom, eyes admiring his soon-to-be wife.
"You love the ring that much, huh?" He laughs. "Not more than me, I hope."
Karyme sits up. "Never more than you."
Kaiden takes a seat on the bed, urging Karyme over. He takes her into his arms, nestling his face in her hair as Karyme gets comfortable.
"What are you thinking about.?" He asks softly, his hands wandering over her body.
Karyme sighs. "Just.. things."
Kaiden hums. "Must be pretty important since you've been lost in thought for a while now." He rubs her arm. "Talk to me, baby."
Karyme clutches her hand against her own chest, feeling the cold of the ring brush against her skin. "It's just.." She sighs. "It feels like.. I don't deserve this.."
Kaiden's hand reaches for Karyme's, grasping it. "Sweetheart, you know that isn't true.."
Karyme looks at the ring again. "Sometimes it feels like it is, like what happened two years ago.."
Kaiden pulls her closer. "That wasn't your fault, you were in pain, you were hurting and needed an escape.." He takes a deep breath. "You've been doing great though, I'm proud of you, you know?"
Karyme nods. "I know.." She frowns. "What about our wedding.?"
Kaiden laughs softly. "You're already thinking about that? Hun, we've been engaged for only a couple of hours."
Karyme huffs. "Can't help it.." She says softly. "I just thought about.. how depressing it'll be."
"Depressing how?" Kaiden asks.
"Well.. hardly any of my family will be there.." Karyme says. "..and I won't have anyone to walk me down the ai.. or any parent to dance with at the reception, and the pictures will be so empty-"
"Baby," Kaiden says, stopping Karyme mid-sentence. "Trust me, the wedding will be perfect, and we'll have more than enough friends to fill up the space." He kisses her on the forehead. "Now, close your eyes and dream of the perfect wedding."
Karyme snuggles closer to Kaiden. "You too.."
Kaiden nods, turning off the lamp on the nightstand. "Me too."
They both finally lay down to rest after the most eventful day of their lives.
And after this day, they are one step ever so closer to officially being referred to as husband and wife.
"Come on Karyme, it'll be fun!" Sam whined. "A party at Jakson's house, unsupervised, with free drinks!"
Karyme rolls her eyes, twirling a strand of hair with her finger. "Not a chance, plus, I doubt they would invite a loser like me."
Sam frowns. "C'mon, I don't want to go by myself!"
"Ask Leony or Jayden to go with you then." Karyme replies. "Or get a date, I don't know.."
Sam sinks in his seat, arms crossed. "Leony is busy, and Jayden already has a date, I don't want to third wheel.."
Karyme sighs. "Then don't go."
Sam groans. "For the love of Selyna you are impossible sometimes.."
Karyme smirks. "It's a part of my charm."
Sam huffs as the room falls back into silence. Neither of them speak for a bit until Sam starts to whine again.
"Karymeeeee.." He whines. "Pleaseeeee-! I swear will never ask for anything from you ever againnnn-!"
Karyme holds her head in her hands, groaning. "Sam.."
"PLEASE-"
Karyme snaps. "Oh for fucks sake, if I say I'll think about it will you cut it out?!"
Sam aimles, nodding in excitement.
Karyme shakes her head, pushing her earbuds back into her ears as she begins to tune Sam out.
There was no way in hell that she would even be allowed in that party. Jakson was her ex, for one, and also, Jakson's new girl, Nicki, had it out for her.
Those two would either humiliate her, or worse. Dear Selyna she didn't want to think about it..
But Sam was so damn persistent, and Karyme would be lying if she said she didn't want to take advantage of those free drinks..
...
Well.. what's the worst that could happen?
It's only a party after all.
~~~~~~~~~~
Karyme walked the hallways of her school, her earbuds playing her favorite song softly. She was trying to get to class, but suddenly, an arm reached out and pulled her into a room.
Karyme yelped as she was pulled into the library. She turned in anger to face Jakson.
"Chill out Karyme, it's just me." He says nonchalantly.
Karyme narrows her eyes. "I can fucking see that."
He sighs. "Are you still upset over our breakup?"
Karyme crosses her arms. "Why would I be, it's a relief to be away from you."
Jakson huffs. "Whatever.." He looks back at Karyme. "I need to talk to you about something."
"And this couldn't wait until after class?" Karyme asks.
Jakson gives her a look. "Well, yes, but I need to know something, urgently."
Karyme sighs. "Then make it quick."
Jakson nods. "Right, well, I'm having a party this weekend, and I was wondering if-"
"No."
"What-? I didn't even finish-"
"The answer is no, Jakson." Karyme says. "Your girlfriend's an asshole, and frankly, being in the same area as you isn't how I want to spend my weekend."
Jakson frowns. "Do you have anything better to do?"
Karyme blinks. "Well, no, but-"
"Then it's settled!" Jakson claps. "I'll see you at my party, this Saturday, at 8."
Karyme opens her mouth to speak, but Jakson is already walking off.
"Oh, before I go, here." He says, tossing Karyme a piece of paper. "Give this to your teacher, that way you aren't marked tardy." He finishes, walking out of the library.
Karyme hear the door slam, and immediately groans in frustration.
Now she has to excuse not to go..
Oh Selyna, this party was going to be a nightmare..
~~~~~~~~~~
"So that means you're going?" Sam asks.
Currently, Sam, Karyme, and Jayden were walking home.
"I don't really have a choice, now do I?" Karyme shrugs. "My plan is to chill there for a bit, and then ditch when no ones looking."
Jayden hums. "Sounds like Jakson really wants you there.."
Karyme sighs. "Yeah.. it's weird.."
Sam frowns. "Don't overthink it, he's probably just trying to make up for the shit he did." He rolls his eyes. "As if a party will make up for cheating on you."
Karyme looks at the ground. "Maybe he's genuinely changed.."
Jayden gives Karyme a look. "Girl, you better not go back to him."
Karyme perks up. "Oh Selyna no, I would never, I was just thinking.."
"Well stop that." Sam says. "Instead, when you get there, focus on the party." Karyme nods along to her friend's words of advice.
Maybe this would actually be fun, all she had to do was avoid Jakson and Nicki, easy..
..right..?
~~~~~~~~~~
Days went by fast, and soon it was Saturday. Karyme found herself in front of a mirror, looking at herself.
Her sister had helped style her hair, as well as apply makeup. The came Karyme's dress, a vintage Victorian-Style black lace dress, by far her favorite thing in her closet.
As she waiting for Jayden to pick her up, she ran through her main point.
"Ignore everyone, and just have fun."
Seemed simple enough, so Karyme felt like she could do it.
It didn't take long for Karyme to hear a honk outside her house. Karyme rushed down the stairs, only to be stopped by her parents.
"Karyme." Her mother says.
Karyme freezes, suddenly directing all her attention to her parents.
"Remember now, don't make a fool of yourself, or the Ceers won't accept us." She says coldly, her father nodding along.
Karyme nods slowly, before brushing past her parents and out the door.
Every step she took was careful, precise, perfect..
She couldn't- no, she wouldn't mess up.
She sighs as she takes a seat in Jayden's car. Jayden eyes her for a second.
"Look at you all dressed up." He smiles. "And for once, with your hair tied up."
Karyme rolls her eyes. "Just go, asshole."
~~~~~~~~~~
It'll be fun, Sam said.
Just enjoy yourself, Sam said.
Well, this was the fucking opposite.
Karyme wasn't sure what to expect from her first party, but she didn't expect so many people, for one, and also, everyone was.. wasted.
Karyme drank too, but dear Selyna, everyone was out of it.. like zombies or something..
So there she was, standing in the corner, a red cup in her grasp, and surrounded by teenagers all in different stages of fucking.
Karyme took a small sip, feeling the familiar cheap liquor burn down her throat. She looked around anxiously, hoping to see Sam and Jayden somewhere when Jakson approached.
"What are you doing over here all alone, huh?" He asks, wrapping his arm around her.
Karyme shrugs him off. "None of your business."
Jakson laughs. "Ouch, okay, fair.." He stops suddenly, frowning. "How about.. we hang out a bit."
Karyme gives him a dirty look. "Why would I ever do that?"
"Because one, your friends ditched you, and two, you look fucking miserable over here." He says.
Karyme scoffs. "Yeah, no, I'm fine here."
Jakson hums. "You are hard to get.." He then smirks. "How about I get you a drink, maybe something.. stronger?"
Karyme looks at him, and sighs. "Fine."
He laughs. "Ah, so the way to your heart is through drinks, gotcha.." He turns around. "I'll be right back."
Karyme watches him leave, an uneasy feeling traveling through her body. However, she shakes it off and leans against the wall, waiting.
It doesn't take long for Jakson to return, two drinks in his hands. He hands one to Karyme, smiling. Karyme hesitantly takes it.
The first sip is strong, as Karyme expected, but it carries a salty aftertaste. She shrugs it off, assuming that it must be some different type that she isn't used to.
As she takes more drinks, tuning out whatever Jakson is saying, she starts to feel.. off.
It isn't obvious at first, but Karyme starts to feel drowsy, not a lot, but it was weird how suddenly she was tired.
She starts to sway a bit, somehow remaining conscious. She feels Jakson's arm wrap around her, guiding her away from the music.. the other people..
She hardly registers Jakson sitting her on his bed. She holds her head, feeling it pound.
She starts to mumble. "Jakson.."
He sighs. "Looks like you had too much to drink.."
Karyme shakes her head. "..no, can you call.. my friends.."
Jakson nods. "Sure I can, I need to do something first.."
Karyme closes her eyes, trying to rest, but she's shoved back onto the bed. Her eyes snap open, and she can't even scream when his lips press against her. She's pinned down, unable to move. His hands grab at her roughly, treating her more like a doll than a person.
She can't fight back.
She can't cry for help.
She can't do anything.
...
She's helpless.
~~~~~~~~~~
Silence.
It was silent.
She has stopped crying long ago, an unsettling numbness filling her instead.
She sat in the corner of the bed, against the wall, her arms wrapped around her knees.
It was cold, and the thin blanket wrapped around her did nothing to help.
Her bloodshot eyes were fixated straight ahead, looking at him as he changed back into his clothes. Her own were discarded somewhere in the room, out of sight.
"You know, you were great." He speaks.
Karyme blinks, not speaking a word.
"Just perfect, you know that, doll?" He says with a slight laugh.
Karyme's head drops down, hiding in her knees.
Jakson sighs. "You'll be fine, maybe by tomorrow you'll even realize you had a good time."
With that, he leaves the room silently.
Karyme can still hear the music outside, and the sound of people having a great time.
She thought she would be a part of that happiness.
But she was only used.
Then discarded.
And now, she was numb.

Day 7 - Hesitation

Enjoy!
~~~~~~~~~~
Amne sat in her room, or, what would soon not be her room.
Selyna's words were stuck in her mind, playing on repeat like a record.
"In about a week's time, you'll be back in the overworld.
Selyna told her that almost a week ago.
And tomorrow, her life would change forever.
Amne couldn't stop thinking about it. Soon.. soon she'd be back in that wretched place she once called home, away from everything that had been her life for almost two years now..
Hell, it hadn't even been two years, more like 3 months, but still..
Her new life, her new identity, they'd all be gone soon.
She would leave behind her friends, her family..
Roman..
..Silas..
All of them, like they were nothing but a temporary filler.
It made Amne feel like shit.
..she wouldn't even be Amne anymore..
Amne Soles would cease to exist, and Karyme Sain-Santos would come back, permanently.
She hadn't even told anyone yet, in hopes that something in the revival process would go wrong, but everything was going exactly as it should.
...
Amne didn't want this.
Why would she want this?
Those people, the ones she trusted at some point were now nothing but a faded memory. She knew that most of them weren't at fault, but the hatred still lingered..
Amne couldn't let this happen.
She couldn't let the revival happen.
She couldn't go back, not now, not ever.
...
So she had a plan.
While everyone slept, she would make her way to Selyna's soul room, and from there, put an end to the revival.
Her soul. She had to get rid of her soul.
Once and for all.
~~~~~~~~~~
Day turned to night, and Amne anxiously waited for everyone to go to sleep.
Unlucky for her, mostly everyone here were insomniacs like herself, so she had to stay up very late.
Amne couldn't help but be annoyed at Silas for helping her fix her sleep schedule, because now it was increasingly hard for her to stay awake.
Every couple of seconds, like clockwork, Amne almost drifted off. She couldn't risk falling asleep, because if she did, she would lose her only chance.
So she fought the exhaustion, and kept wide awake until silence finally fell throughout the castle.
Amne pushed herself out of bed, and slowly crept out of her room, her cloak secured around her, keeping her warm.
The soul room wasn't in the castle, rather in a seperate building, so she had to travel through the castle grounds, and then the village, all without being noticed.
This wouldn't be easy, but she had to do it.
So, Amne silently as well as slowly made her was through the halls of the castle, before finally reaching the entrance.
All she had to do now was open it, and then-
"Amne.?"
Amne stopped, turning around slowly.
Kairo stood there, looking confused.
"Kairo, why are you still up.?" Amne asks, keeping calm.
"I couldn't sleep, so I went to the library to get a book.." She responds. "..why are you awake..?"
Amne goes over to her. "Don't worry, I was just going out to get some fresh air."
Kairo perks up. "Oh, that makes sense."
Amne nods. "Go back to your room, I'll only be out for a bit."
Kairo nods in response before walking off softly.
As soon as she's out of sight, Amne lets out a breath of relief. That was too close of a call, she couldn't risk another one..
Amne sighs, and slips out of the castle, unbeknownst to everyone else.
~~~~~~~~~~
The walk to the soul room was eternal, as well as stressful, but finally Amne made it inside.
She was glad to be out of the cold, and also proud that she made it through unnoticed.
Now, she moved onto the final part of her plan.
Destroying her new soul.
Normally, this would be impossible, but Amne had an advantage.
An advantage in the form of a parasite.
"W̯ͤ̾ͣ͝ḣ̖̻͛̓o̯̱̊͊͢ ā̤̓̍͘r̴̨̦͕̝ẹ̿͋̒̕ y҉̃̀̋̑o̯̱̊͊͢ư̡͕̭̇ c͕͗ͤ̕̕ā̤̓̍͘l̙͖̑̾ͣl̙͖̑̾ͣỉ͔͖̜͌ṇ̤͛̒̍ĝ̽̓̀͑ p̞̈͑̚͞ā̤̓̍͘r̴̨̦͕̝ā̤̓̍͘s̠҉͍͊ͅỉ͔͖̜͌t̲̂̓ͩ̑ẹ̿͋̒̕..?" Nahdiye mumbles coldly.
Amne sighs. "You know I don't mean it in a bad way."
"I'm sure you'll like to hear this, but don't get used to it." Amne warns. "I need you to take over, and destroy my new soul."
"O̖̼ͩ͌͐ḣ̖̻͛̓, A̷͙ͭͫ̕ṇ̤͛̒̍ĝ̽̓̀͑ẹ̿͋̒̕l̙͖̑̾ͣ ĝ̽̓̀͑o̯̱̊͊͢ṇ̤͛̒̍ẹ̿͋̒̕ r̴̨̦͕̝o̯̱̊͊͢ư̡͕̭̇ĝ̽̓̀͑ẹ̿͋̒̕, ḣ̖̻͛̓ư̡͕̭̇ḣ̖̻͛̓?" It says.
"Not rouge," Amne replies. "Just doing what is best for myself."
Amne nods. "Just.. make it quick."
She gets no reply, but her body suddenly shaking lets her know the response.
A change that used to be painful now only felt uncomfortable, but soon, Amne lost control.
Nahdiye adjusted to being in control before trying to locate the soul.
The task was easy, as the soul was right in the middle of the room, unguarded.. as if waiting for it to arrive.
Nahdiye made its way over to it, stopping right in front of it.
The souls only protection was a glass container. Glass never managed to stop Nahdiye.
It was actually surprised, since it thought that after the possession it did on Amne, Selyna would consider a better way to store important artifacts or entities.
It was not a matter of worry, since this ignorance made Nahdiye's job easier.
With a swing of its claw, the glass container shattered into a million pieces. The soul was left unprotected, just as it needed to be.
Nahdiye grabbed the soul, staring at it momentarily. It was always a shame to destroy one of these, with how long it took to create, but it had to be done.
In the end, why waste time on a soul who doesn't wish for life?
Nahdiye extends its claw, preparing to crush it..
Until a door slams open.
Nahdiye is caught off guard, and has no time to react as its restrained.
Selyna looks down at it with a blank expression, eyes narrowed.
"𝑌𝑜𝑢 𝑤𝑖𝑙𝑙 𝑛𝑜𝑡 𝑟𝑜𝑏 𝐴𝑚𝑛𝑒𝑠𝑖𝑎 𝑜𝑓 ℎ𝑒𝑟 𝑛𝑒𝑤 𝑐ℎ𝑎𝑛𝑐𝑒." She says coldly.
Nahdiye narrows its own eyes, annoyed. "I̍̅̀̎̊ o̯̱̊͊͢ṇ̤͛̒̍l̙͖̑̾ͣy҉̃̀̋̑ ā̤̓̍͘c͕͗ͤ̕̕t̲̂̓ͩ̑ o̯̱̊͊͢ṇ̤͛̒̍ c͕͗ͤ̕̕o̯̱̊͢ḿ̬̏ͤͅḿ̬̏ͤͅā̤̓̍͘ṇ̤͛̒̍ḑ̴̞͛̒, ṇ̤͛̒̍o̯̱̊͊͢t̲̂̓ͩ̑ c͕͗ͤ̕̕ḣ̖̻͛̓o̯̱̊͊͢ỉ͔͖̜͌c͕͗ͤ̕̕ẹ̿͋̒̕."
Selyna looks surprised. "𝑌𝑜𝑢 𝑚𝑒𝑎𝑛 𝑡𝑜 𝑡𝑒𝑙𝑙 𝑚𝑒 𝑠ℎ𝑒 𝑤𝑎𝑛𝑡𝑒𝑑 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑠.?"
Nahdiye huffs. "A̷͙ͭͫ̕s̠҉͍͊ͅḳ̯͍̑ͦ ḣ̖̻͛̓ẹ̿͋̒̕r̴̨̦͕̝ y҉̃̀̋̑o̯̱̊͊͢ư̡͕̭̇r̴̨̦͕̝s̠҉͍͊ͅẹ̿͋̒̕l̙͖̑̾ͣf̵̵̵͖̜͖̜͖̜̉̉̉ͅͅͅ."
It closes its eyes, and in seconds, Amne falls back into control. She gasps at the sudden change, looking around before her gaze lands on Selyna
"w-wait.." Amne starts.
Selyna looks over to her, her expression unreadable. "𝑇𝑒𝑙𝑙 𝑚𝑒 𝐴𝑚𝑛𝑒𝑠𝑖𝑎, 𝑤ℎ𝑦 𝑎𝑟𝑒 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑑𝑜𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑠.?"
Amne narrows her eyes. "Like you would understand.."
Selyna looks away from her. "𝑇ℎ𝑖𝑠 𝑠𝑜𝑢𝑙 𝑖𝑠 𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑑𝑦, 𝑖𝑡 𝑠𝑒𝑒𝑚𝑠."
Amne's eyes widen. "No.. I still had time.!" She shouts, trying to stand, only to fall back down.
"𝐴𝑚𝑛𝑒𝑠𝑖𝑎, 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑚𝑢𝑠𝑡 𝑡𝑒𝑙𝑙 𝑚𝑒 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑠𝑜𝑛𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑏𝑒ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑑 𝑦𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑎𝑐𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛𝑠, 𝑜𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟𝑤𝑖𝑠𝑒, 𝐼 𝑐𝑎𝑛𝑛𝑜𝑡 𝑝𝑟𝑜𝑡𝑒𝑐𝑡 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑓𝑟𝑜𝑚 𝑗𝑢𝑑𝑔𝑒𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡." Selyna says.
"I wanted the soul dead!" Amne shouts. "I wanted it gone!"
Selyna only states at her, unfazed by the yelling.
"I won't go back there, you can't make me go back!" Amne yells, finally brealint down in tears.
Her head hung down as she cried, unable to stop even if she really tried. Her pent up frustrations and anger all boiled over to sadness.
She couldn't ever go back to her old life, even if she really wanted to. There was nothing for her when she was there, why would there be now?
Those people didn't care for her, the people here did.
Her real family were all here.
Amne wanted to stay.
Amne sniffled as she felt a presence in front of her. Slowly, hands cupped her face, tilting her head up by force.
"𝐷𝑒𝑎𝑟, 𝑖𝑡 𝑝𝑎𝑖𝑛𝑠 𝑚𝑒 𝑡𝑜 𝑠𝑒𝑒 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑠 𝑤𝑎𝑦." Selyna mumbles. "𝐸𝑣𝑒𝑛 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑎𝑏𝑖𝑙𝑖𝑡𝑦 𝑡𝑜, 𝐼 𝑐𝑎𝑛𝑛𝑜𝑡 𝑓𝑜𝑟𝑐𝑒 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑏𝑎𝑐𝑘 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟𝑒."
Amne can't find it in her to speak as Selyna sighs.
"𝑌𝑜𝑢 𝑎𝑟𝑒 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑓𝑖𝑟𝑠𝑡 𝑡𝑜 𝑑𝑒𝑛𝑦 𝑙𝑖𝑓𝑒, 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝐼 𝑐𝑎𝑛𝑛𝑜𝑡 𝑏𝑙𝑎𝑚𝑒 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝑖𝑡." Selyna says softly. "𝐶ℎ𝑖𝑙𝑑, 𝑖𝑓 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑤𝑖𝑠ℎ 𝑡𝑜 𝑠𝑡𝑎𝑦, 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑛 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑤𝑖𝑙𝑙 𝑠𝑡𝑎𝑦."
Amne's eyes widen. "..r-really.?"
Selyna nods. "𝑁𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑟 𝑤𝑜𝑢𝑙𝑑 𝐼 𝑑𝑎𝑟𝑒 𝑡𝑜 𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑜𝑤 𝑎𝑛𝑦 𝑜𝑓 𝑚𝑦 𝑎𝑛𝑔𝑒𝑙𝑠 𝑡𝑜 𝑠𝑢𝑓𝑓𝑒𝑟, 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑎𝑟𝑒 𝑛𝑜 𝑒𝑥𝑐𝑒𝑝𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛, 𝑑𝑒𝑎𝑟."
Amne is about to speak until the doors open once again. Silas stands in the doorway, obviously confused and concerned.
Selyna backs away from Amne, looking over to Silas in silence.
"What's going on-" Silas asks before he's interrupted by Amne practically barreling into him.
He is quick to embrace her, feeling her sink against him in years. Silas' hands automatically move to her waist and hair as he holds her tightly.
He gives Selyna a look, and she smiles.
"𝐴𝑚𝑛𝑒𝑠𝑖𝑎 ℎ𝑎𝑠 𝑚𝑎𝑑𝑒 ℎ𝑒𝑟 𝑐ℎ𝑜𝑖𝑐𝑒, 𝑆𝑖𝑙𝑎𝑠."
Silas lets out a breath, looking back down at Amne, who's face is buried in his chest.
Selyna goes over to the door of the room, preparing to leave until she stops, and turns over to the two.
"𝑊𝑒𝑙𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑒 ℎ𝑜𝑚𝑒, 𝑜𝑓𝑓𝑖𝑐𝑖𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑦, 𝐴𝑚𝑛𝑒𝑠𝑖𝑎."
Day 6 - Dizziness
⚠TW⚠
- Swearing
- Mentions of Alcohol
- Mentions of Drugs
- Mentions of SA
- Mentions of Prostitution (kinda ig)
Enjoy!
~~~~~~~~~~
The streets were bustling with life, bright lights flashing as the city refused to sleep.
In the midst of it all, there was them, hidden amongst the plain folk. Blending in so perfectly that you would even spare a second glance at them.
They weren't on any important mission at the moment, more like just looking for a place to have some fun and kill time.
The group of seven individuals walked together, fake ID's ready to help them blend in.
In the back of the group, Amne and Silas walked side by side. Occasionally, their arms would rub up against each other, but neither said anything.
They never did. Amne and Silas would die before admitting that there was something between them. Most people wrote it down to them being friend with benefits, but it was clear that the 'friends' bit wasn't there.
Passing by the local businesses, Amne's eyes wandered. She couldn't help but be amazed at how similar everything still looked. It felt as if she had been gone from the overworld for years, but since time went faster in Celestial, she couldn't be sure how long it had actually been.
Regardless, she kept her head down. She didn't want to risk another incident. She had already been recognized once, an issue that was now solved, but she couldn't risk it again.
The situation left her in a panic, which then turned to a daze. She wanted nothing more than to drown her sorrows in a bottle of tequila, but she had to convince Silas first.
He hadn't left her side since the encounter. If Amne had to guess, he was probably freaked out by her sudden panic attack, considering that she had to explain to him how to calm her down while trying to calm herself down, but now she had him stuck to her like a leech.
A cute leech, but a leech nonetheless.
As the group was about to pass by another bar, Amne tugged on Silas' arm to get his attention.
He immediately perks up. "Yeah.?" He asks.
Amne points to the bar. "I need a drink, you up for it?"
Silas frowns. "You never told me you were a drinker.."
"Must have not come up in conversation then." Amne says. "C'mon, it'll be quick."
Silas looks over to the rest of the group, who seem to have finally agreed on a place to hang out at.
"Should we let them know.?" Silas asks.
Amne shrugs. "Your call, I'll be at the bar." She says before walking away.
Deep inside, a part of her feels like shit for being so dull, but the encounter left her feeling drained.. numb even..
She didn't like feeling numb, it was too harsh of a reminder of who she once was..
However, no numbness can't be fixed with a strong drink, so Amne goes off into the busy-ish bar. She won't drink too much, just enough to get a bit buzzed.
~~~~~~~~~~
Silas walks up to the group, shuffling awkwardly.
"Hey uh, Lua.?" Silas mumbles.
Lua turns. "What's up?"
Silas rubs the back of his neck. "Amne kinda.. ditched and went into a bar.. said she-"
"-needs a drink? Yeah, I figured she would." Lua says, annoyed. "Did you want to join her?"
"I mean, yeah, not to drink, just to keep an eye on her." Silas states clearly.
Lua hums. "Then go on, just don't get into trouble and keep a low profile."
Silas nods. "Right, I'll let Amne know." He replies before walking off to join Amne.
Lua sighs as Freyja shuffles next to her.
"Amne is not.. OK.?" She asks, looking uncertain.
Lua looks over to her. "I never know with her.."
~~~~~~~~~~
The bar is lively, just about as much as Silas expected. Friday nights were expected to be crazy, but Silas imagined that people had other things to do than go drinking at almost midnight.
His eyes scanned the room, locating Amne sitting at the bar. He quickly made his way over to her, taking a seat as Amne started on her first drink.
"Anything I can get for you, sir?" The bartender asks suddenly.
Silas is about to answer when Amne perks up.
"He doesn't drink." She responds.
The bartender nods, and goes to serve other people.
Silas sighs. "..so.. you okay.?"
Amne looks over to him, confused. "Why wouldn't I be.?"
"I mean, you've been.. odd since the incident." Silas mumbles. "Like.. blank."
Amne looks down at her drink. "Is it freaking you out.?"
Silas shakes his head quickly. "No, of course not, I'm just-.." He stops. "Worried, just.. worried."
Amne hums. "Well don't be, I'll be fine after a couple drinks."
Silas frowns. "This isn't healthy, you know?"
"I'm well aware." Amne mumbles.
Silas looks away. "Is this really how you cope?"
"Do you have any better suggestions?" Amne asks coldly.
"I mean.. you could.. talk to me about it?" Silas suggests.
Amne looks at him, then sighs. "I wouldn't want to burden you.."
"You wouldn't be! Trust me, it.. might help a bit.." Silas replies with a soft smile.
Amne starts on her second drink. "Well.. where do I start..?"
"Maybe with, what happened earlier.?" Silas suggests.
Amne nods. "Right, well.."
~~~~~~~~~~
A few words and rounds of drinks later, Amne was wasted. Even with all the things she finally spilled, things even Silas never expected, she was now acting like everything was fine, whether that be by choice or not.
It was now almost 2 am, and Amne showed zero signs of exhaustion, as well as zero signs that she was done drinking.
Silas ended up ordering her water, hoping to sober her up enough so they could get out of here without making a scene, but Amne was so.. cheerful that it wasn't going to be so easy.
"Silas~" Amne laughs, throwing her arms around him. "C'mon, just a few more drinks!"
Silas hums. "At this rate, your heart will stop if I let you drink more."
"And would that be so bad~?" Amne hums, her face getting closer to his.
"Yes, it would." Silas says. "I want to keep you around, believe it or not."
"For what purpose.?" Amne asks. "For my body~?"
Silas gives her a look. "What are you rambling around?"
"You wouldn't be the first guy to pay me for.. services~" Amne purrs. "Nor the last.."
Silas sighs. "Yeah no, it's time to go."
Amne pouts. "No, let's have fun!"
"Amne, you are so wasted that you seem genuinely happy, it's time to head home." Silas says sternly, pushing Amne towards the exit.
Amne tries to push against him "Don't be a party pooper, just let me go!"
Silas rolls his eyes as he guides Amne home, trying to avoid the states she's getting.
~~~~~~~~~~
Silas falls back onto the couch next to Lua, exhaustion finally hitting him like a ton of bricks.
Lua glances over at him from their phone. "Is the psycho finally out?"
Silas groans. "Firstly, enough with that nickname, and secondly, yes, she is."
Lua hums. "It's surprising how giddy she is when she's drunk, I wonder if that moment of happiness is worth the hell of a hangover she's gonna have tomorrow."
Silas rubs the tiredness from his eyes. "Hopefully she's fine tomorrow.." He then sighs. "..Something happened at the bar."
Lua turns off their phone, turning to face Silas. "What do you mean?"
Silas breathes deeply. "I shouldn't tell you this.. but it's important."
Lua gives him a look. "Then spill it."
"It's about Silva.. the possession.. all of that." He says.
"There can't be more to what we already know, Silas." Lua mumbles.
Silas crosses his arms. "I thought so too, but.. she told me something.."
Lua hums, waiting for Silas to continue.
"Amne.. or, Karyme.." Silas starts. "Fuck, Lua.."
"She wasn't ever not possessed."

Day 5 - Reckless
⚠TW⚠
- Swearing
- Mentions of Trauma
- Mentions of Blood
- Mentions of Injury
(Part 2 of Day 4)
Enjoy!
~~~~~~~~~~
Lua and Silas are quick to draw their weapons, and Amne brings up her fists as the remaining people clear out of the castle.
"Shouldn't Selyna be here somewhere?!" Amne shouts. "She could help us, right?!"
Lua frowns. "You'd be surprised, she's never been good at this fighting thing, now focus!"
Amne rolls her eyes as Lua's eyes dart around.
Finally, the trio sees a shadow in the hallway that quickly disappears.
"Straight ahead, go!" Lua shouts. "And for the love of Selyna, don't split up!"
Silas and Amne nod, and all three of them sprint down the hallway, following the sinister shadows and laughter coming from it.
~~~~~~~~~~
As suspected, Lua's words went unheard as Silas and Amne found themselves lost, and without Lua in sight.
"Shit.!" Amne curses as Silas awkwardly rubs the back of his neck.
"Amne, calm down-" He starts as Amne shoots himself glare. He goes silent as Amne stammers.
"We're going to die, oh fuck, where do we go if we die here, is there like a second Celestial, or are we stuck in an endless void, oh Selyna, why me, why me-"
Amne stops as Silas pulls her close, kissing her. It proves to be effective as it shuts her up quickly.
"Sorry, it's just, you were spiraling.." Silas says as he lets Amne go.
Amne takes a deep breath, trying to calm her racing heart. "Y-yeah.. that makes sense.."
The two go silent before Amne groans.
"God, why is it awkward between us now?!" She shouts.
Silas raises his hands up in surprise. "I don't know!"
Amne slumps down on the floor, groaning in frustration. Silas stays standing, shuffling a bit.
"Can we just-" Amne starts.
"-pretend that didn't happen-?" Silas finishes.
Amne lifts up her head. "Yeah.."
Silas frowns. "That would be for the best, yeah.." He looks away. "It doesn't take away my feelings though.."
Amne sighs. "I just.. I don't think I'm ready for a relationship.. not again." She mumbles. "Don't take it the wrong way, Silas, it's a me thing, it has nothing to do with you.."
Silas perks up. "No I-.. I get it." He looks at her. "I don't think I'm ready either.."
They both go back to silence before Amne speaks up.
"What are we then..?" Amne asks.
"That would depend on what you want us to be.." Silas replies. "Or if you even think there's an.. us."
Amne looks away. "I don't know how this works.. but maybe we're like.. friends with benefits.?"
Silas raises an eyebrow. "I mean.. yeah, that makes the most sense.."
Amne forces herself to stand up. "So.. friends.?" She asks, holding her hand out.
Silas musters up a smile, shaking her hand. "Friends."
Amne also smiles softly until a loud sound startles them both. Amne jumps, clinging onto Silas as they hear footsteps.
"Where the hell are you guys!" Lua's voice rings out. "I thought I told you not to split up!"
Amne tries to respond, but Silas is quick to cover her mouth as he pulls her close. Amne gives him a confused look, but Silas states straight ahead.
"I swear guys, when I find you you're both dead!" Lua's voice rings out again before fading.
Amne finally manages to get Silas' hand away from her mouth as he exhales sharply.
"What the hell is wrong with you-" Amne growls as Silas looks down at her.
"That isn't Lua." He mumbles.
Amne's eyes go wide as they both hear giggles approach quickly.
In a second, white tentacles shoot out of the darkness, grabbing them both, causing them to fall. Amne gets the wind knocked out of her lungs, leaving her winded. She gasps harshly as she sees Silas out of the corner of her eye.
He's struggling against one, but once again, in a split second, he's dragged away, out of sight.
"Silas-!" Amne shouts, but it's no use. Another set of tentacles grab her, and one manages to wrap around her neck. Amne gasps for air, struggling against it.
She shuts her eyes, convinced that this is how it'll end for her. All she had gotten in such a short time was ripped away from her.. and she was going to die again..
Amne sucks in a breath.
No. It won't end like this.
Not now.
She's going to fight.
Fight like she should've a long time ago.
Amne's eyes snap open, and in a swift movement of her arm, she summons a dagger, and plunges it into the tentacle around her neck. An inhumane screech echoes through the room, and all the other tentacles release.
Amne scrambles up, and sprints down. the hallway Silas was taken through. However, with her long dress, it's almost impossible to do so.
Amne has to stop, and quickly rips away her long skirt, revealing shorts under, something much more convenient. She then takes the time to put her hair up in a ponytail, and goes back to running.
She runs until she hears voices. She slowly down, slowly moving as to not alert anyone of her presence. She can hear two voices speaking, and she listens in.
"-the boy's secure." One voice says.
"What about Selyna's kid?" The other asks.
"Not located yet, but they will be soon enough." The first one replies. "There's a third one too, not accounted for, but should be easy to take out."
Amen covers her mouth, knowing damn well that she is the third one in this scenario.
She breathes silently as the talking stops, and both suspects leave the area. Amne peaks her head around a corner, and deems the coast clear as she passes through.
She looks up, and sees agent in the ceiling. Even with the possibility of bugs being up there, it's the best way for her to travel around without being noticed, so she sucks in a breath, and goes straight to work.
~~~~~~~~~~
The vents were a bit bigger than she imagined, and surprisingly clean. Amne slowly shuffles through them, peeking through vent covers to try and locate Silas.
She didn't want to think about what could be possibly happening to him right now..
Amne pushes back her thoughts as she keeps going.
He's probably fine, still alive.. yeah, he's okay..
Amne stops, peering through yet another vent covers when she spots two figures who she is sure are the ones she heard talking earlier. It's a girl and a guy, Briar and Brennan, as Lia called them..
Amne narrows her eyes, scanning the area, there's a couple of shadows around.. maybe their abilities are shadow summoning..
Nonetheless, she has to get through them and fast.
Amne sucks in a breath, and puts her fort against the vent cover. She braces herself, and then kicks it hard, sending it flying open.
She falls through it, and lands on her feet, drawing her dagger. She had her eyes locked on the pair, and she wastes no time in pouncing.
~~~~~~~~~~
Amne plunges her dagger into the neck of the last shadow, dropping it to the floor. She wipes the blood away from her face as she catches her breath. She looks back to the pair, who she managed to beat down and tie up.
She walks over to Brennan, the conscious one, and draws her dagger, digging it into his neck.
"Where is he..?" She asks lowly, her eyes narrowed.
Brennan glares at her, but glances over at a door.
Amne pulls the dagger away, and walks over to the door. She turns the knob, and finds the door locked. In a burst of frustration, Amne kicks at the door until she manages to drop it.
She stumbles into the room, and to her total relief, finds Silas still very much alive and well. He's tied up, to be fair, but he's okay.
Amne can't even help but sigh in relief. However, she expected his face to go from surprised to relieved, not from surprised to terrified.
Amne tales a step forward and Silas gets even more distraught.
"Amne, behind you!" He shouts.
Amne snaps around, and finds Brennan right behind her, however, she far too late to stop him. He slams her against the wall, and Silas struggles against his ties.
Amne is lifted off the ground by him from her neck. She once again fights against the tightening grip. Out of the corner of her eye, she sees Silas free one of his hands.
Amne goes back to looking at Brennan, and she manages to kick him in the knee, causing him to release her. Amne falls to the ground, but Brennan is quick to pin her to the floor instead.
Amne can only struggle, eyes darting between Brennan and Silas. She tries to kick him away, but the second he draws a dagger of his own is when it stops. He wastes no time in plunging the knife into Amne's leg, causing her to yelp.
Amne is caught off guard from the pain, and Silas manages to take over. Now freed, he jumps into the fight, knocking Brennan out swiftly as if he was nothing.
Amne pushes herself up so she can lean against the wall as Silas unarms Brennan.
"Didn't think you could do that.." Amne mumbles.
Silas looks over to her, seeing the blood coming from her wound.
Silas goes over to her. "You need to put pressure on that, idiot.." He says, pressing Amne's hand over it.
Amne hisses from the pain. "Fuck-.." She looks at Silas. "Why do you seem pissed..?"
Silas deadpans. "You put yourself in danger for me, so yeah, I'm a little pissed."
Amne glares at him. "I saved your life.."
"-and put your own in danger at the same time." He adds. "That was not only reckless, but also shows how little self-preservation skills you have."
Amne punches him in the arm with her free hand in response.
"Hey, cut that out-!" He says sternly. "Now stay still, I need to heal you."
Amne watches Silas place both of his hands over her wound, and as he begins to mumble incoherently, the wound begins to close.
Amne breathes deeply as the wound closes completely. "Fuck.. that felt weird as hell.."
Silas hums. "Yeah, so unless you wanna go feeling that again, don't try to play hero."
Amne rolls her eyes. "Yeah yeah.." She looks away from him. "A thanks you still would've been nice.."
Silas sighs, placing a hand on her shoulder. "Thank you, really." He says, smiling a bit.
Amne's heart flutters as she awkwardly pats his own shoulder. "No problem.."
"No more doing that, thought."
"Oh, fuck off."

Day 4 - Swaying
⚠TW⚠
- Swearing
- Mentions of Trauma
- Slightly Suggestive (NO NSFW)
Enjoy!
~~~~~~~~~~
Amne brushed her hair, glancing at the mirror ever so often.
A birthday party, Lua had said, but this seems more important.. more extravagant.
Maybe Lua just liked big parties.. or this was forced on them..
Either way, Amne was pretty much forced into it too, since she was sitting in a dress far too fancy for a simple party.
However, she wasn't exactly complaining. The dress was gorgeous, far more than anything she had ever worn before. The black base with the red accents was beautiful, but she was still dreading this party.
Even if Celestial managed to be a place where nothing could harm you, Anne's anxiety somehow surpassed that. The amount of people that would be there.. people that she didn't know.
Amne finishes brushing her hair, and sets the brush down. Looking at herself in the mirror is surreal. She doesn't look like herself, but she hasn't really since she got here.
Amne proceeded to wait patiently. The only good thing was that Silas would be there with her. He always managed to make things less scary, less stressful..
That boy was truly an angel. He was so sweet, caring, understanding.. it almost caused her nostalgia every time they interacted, or maybe more a sense of deja vu..
Amne perks up suddenly as she hears a knock on the door.
"It's open." She calls out a bit.
The door opens silently, and Silas pops his head in, looking a bit flushed as he states at her.
"Y-you ready.?" He asks, stuttering a bit at the beginning.
Amne manages a small smile and a nod. She stands up and exits the comfort of her room, joining Silas I'm the hallway.
Finally seeing him makes her own face flush. She can't deny that along with his amazing personality, he's also very attractive, especially in a suit matching her dress..
Fuck, no Amne, no relationships, none of that, not anymore..
Amne breathes deeply, composing her racing mind.
"You uh, look great.!" Silas says, smiling awkwardly.
Amne widens her eyes a bit. "Thanks.. so do you."
Silas nods, and extends his arm.
"What are you-" Amne asks before Silas interrupts.
"It's called being a gentlemen," He says. "No, but seriously, it's just to help you walk, I can't imagine it's easy to walk in such a long dress."
Amne nods, feeling silly. "Right.." She says as she links her arm with his, letting him guide her away..
~~~~~~~~~~
Reaching the main ballroom takes almost no time, and it suddenly reminds Amne of why she never was a party kind of person.
Even with how big the place is, it seems packed to the brim. So many angels.. demons.. and even mixes of them pack up the room almost entirely.
Amne feels the suffocation in the room, and it's enough to make her feel uneasy. A squeeze from Silas brings her back to reality as he looks at her, his usually happy face vanishing for a second.
"It's pretty crowded.. will you be fine in here.?" He asks. "It's okay if you're not, I just-"
Amne sighs. "I don't know.." She says, looking around. "I'll have to test it out for a bit first."
Silas nods. "Yeah, we can do that, just.. don't wander off."
Amne gives him a look. "I'm not a child, Silas."
"Your Uncle told me, in very unagressive words that I had to keep you comfortable all night, so that's what I'll do." Silas replies staring straight ahead.
"Of course he did.." Amne grumbles. "Don't let Zaaron scare you, he wouldn't hurt you."
Silas raises an eyebrow. "It wasn't him, it was Roman."
Amne perks up. "Oh, I just assumed-"
"No no, it's alright, I get it, you're not used to, uh.." Silas starts.
"Communicating with my dead uncle?" Amne asks.
"Not.. that wording, but basically, yeah." Silas responds.
Amne nods. "Wanna.." She stops, sighing in frustration. "Oh for fucks sake, what the hell are we doing?"
Silas raises his eyebrows in surprise. "What do you-?"
"This isn't me, hell, this is not us." Amne remarks. "We aren't party people.. not at all."
Silas frowns. "Yeah, I guess we really aren't.."
Amne taps her foot before getting an idea.
"Hey, you don't still happen to have the key to the old ballroom, do you?" Amne asks Silas.
Silas nods slowly. "Yeah.. I do, why.?"
"Well, there's our escape." Amne states, beginning to walk away as Silas scurried behind her.
The old ballroom wasn't used anymore, for some odd reason, but somehow, Silas has access to it. Amne recalls him telling her about it a while back, how he would go there when things got too overwhelming.. An outlet of sorts.
Even if Amne couldn't imagine a day where Silas wasn't.. Silas, she was glad that at least there was some place in the castle unoccupied..
And maybe the idea of being alone in a room with him excited her more than she would admit.
Amne cleared her head as Silas opened the door to the ballroom, and immediately Amne was caught off guard.
The ballroom was gorgeous, yes, but that wasn't the reason. Even with all the shades of blue and gold, the thing that stood out to Amne the most was the stained glass portraits.
There were eight of them, all along the walls. Amne could point out the ones that looked like Lua, and Silas..
But the one that stood out the most looked exactly like her.
'Uh, how long has that been there.?" Amne asks, pointing at the portrait with a concerned look.
Silas smiles. "Oh yeah, that got here a little bit after you did!"
Amne deadpans. "Right.."
Silas laughs. "I get it, this all must be really weird and new for you."
Amne nods slowly. "Weird is an understatement.."
Silas urges Amne over to a door, opening it to reveal a balcony. As they both step out onto it, Amne feels her heart flutter.
"So.. I don't mean to push you or anything, but you never told me about your life.. before Celestial.." Silas tarts, sounding unsure.
Amne sighs. "Yeah.. I guess I haven't." She looks at Silas. "I can't remember much.. honestly.."
Silas nods in acknowledgment. "I figured.. but I think you do remember something.. or someone."
Amne raises an eyebrow. "What-?"
Silas shrugs. "Sorry, that came out wrong, it's just.. when I was with you for the first couple of nights after you got here.. you were always mumbling about people in your sleep.."
Amne feels her heart stop momentarily. "I-I was..?"
Silas nods. "I didn't want to say anything.. I figured you were already dealing with a lot of new adjustments.. I just.. can't forget what you said.."
Amne turns to him. "What did I say.."
Silas sighs. "Mostly incoherent things, little bits here and there.. but you constantly said a name.."
Amne stops, looking down. "Kaiden, I said Kaiden, didn't I.?"
Silas looks over at her. "You did, how did you-"
Amne's face pales, and she takes a deep breath. "He's-.. someone I was close with.."
Silas frowns. "Like a partner?"
Amne nods, her hands shaking. "For a while, yeah, but we ended a bit before my.. accident." She closes her eyes. "I remember dreaming a lot about him when I first got here, he was always.. so sad, so.. empty.." Amne opens her eyes, looking up at the dark sky. "I miss him sometimes.. but he's also the reason I'm here.."
Silas nods silently, just listening. Amne works up the courage to continue speaking.
"Actually.. you remind me a lot of him.. or, who I thought he was.." She says. "When we first met, he was like you, happy-go-lucky.. sweet.. loving.. the whole gist.." Amne sighs. "But you two aren't the same, I know that, I know he isn't here.." Amne turns to Silas once again. "But you are."
Silas perks up, surprised. "Amne, I-"
Amne seems to get closer to Silas. "You've been here with me through every challenge so far, and you did it because you wanted to."
Silas hands slightly hover over Amne's waist, the temptation to pull her in strong. "I had to help you, I just had the urge.."
Amne looks up at him. "But why.?"
Silas lets out a breath. "I think it's because.. I love you.."
Amne gives a subtle smile. "Then what are you waiting for..?"
Those words are the last thing spoken as the two finally push past their own hesitation. Silas pulls Amne in, kissing her as if she would disappear at any moment. His hands keep a firm hold on her waist as Amne's hands automatically travel into his hair, the way they always have.
Amne is backed up against the wall, helplessly trapped by someone she always claimed was only a friend.
In reality, how could they ever just be friends.?
The once passionate kisses turn sloppy as things begin to get heated. They both feel the desperation to be closer.. to be up against one another, without an inch of space between them. They could only go so long without love, starved to the point of ravishing the smallest amount of love they could get their hands on.
They were meant to find each other, that was for sure, and nothing could separate them.
"AHEM."
Amne freezes up at the sound, feeling Silas tense up as well. They both turn to the door, the one they'd forgotten to lock, but to be fair, neither of them expected the night to go this way.
Lua stood in the doorway, looking a mix of disappointment, anger, but most of all, disgusted.
Amne slightly nudges Silas away from her as they both straighten themselves out awkwardly.
"You gotta be fucking kidding me.." Lua groans. "She just got here a few weeks ago, Silas!"
Silas gets flushed. "What, no, we weren't-"
Lua stomps up to him. "Are you going to lie to my face and tell me you weren't trying to fuck Mrs. Sain-Santos, daughter of psychopathy, over here?!" They yell, pointing at Amne.
"Hey!" Amne shouts back. "Watch it!"
Lua glares at Amne. "Don't even get me started on you!" They turn back to Silas, who still looks incredibly embarrassed. "You, come with me."
Amne crosses her arms. "What about me?"
Lua sighs. "You stay here, and fucking pull yourself together, you look like a mess." With that, they march out of the room, Silas trailing behind looking like a sad puppy.
As soon as the door shuts, Amne loses it.
"Oh Selyna, what did I just do, did I just make-out with a high-rank Angel?! Shit.. What if Zaaron finds out.. or Roman.. oh fuck, I'm so fucked, what was I thinking?!" Amne panics as she paces around the room, pulling her hair from the stress.
She continues to spiral until she hears a commotion start up outside the room. Amne looks at the door, wondering if she should even bother leaving-
The commotion then turns to screams. Amne reacts quickly, rushing out of the room as people run past her in fury. She spots Lua and Silas in the main room, and rushes over to them.
"What the hell's going on?!" She shouts.
Silas looks at her in fear as Lua scans the room.
"Briar and Brennan, that's who." Lua states.
"Am I supposed to know who those people are?!" Amne shouts back as Silas tries to calm her.
Lua turns to Amne. "Did your psycho family at least teach you how to fight?!" They ask.
Amne barely musters up a nod as Lua sighs.
"Good, because we're in for a fucking battle."

Day 3 - Shame
⚠TW⚠
- Swearing
- Mentions of Death
- Mentions of Suicide
Enjoy!
~~~~~~~~~~
Karyme paced the room anxiously, pulling at her hair.
She couldn't understand, fuck, why her, why was it always her!
She worked so damn hard, and for what? She did all she could to protect Kaiden, to protect her family.
She failed them.
There was nothing left. Her son, on his death bed, her daughter, too afraid to even leave their home, and now her husband..
Now Kaiden knew about the things she did decades ago, the irreversible decisions she made for the greater good.
It seemed right then, but now, now she was paying the price.
Her life was no longer hers, she knew that.
But Kaiden didn't, and he never should've known.
Karyme stopped pacing, staring at herself in the reflection of the mirror. she brushed her bangs to the side, revealing her abnormal eye.
The light purple pupil looked almost white, but it contrasted from the black that was her sclera.
She stood there, staring.
Suddenly her right eye flashed, turning from its usual red color to a bright green. Karyme gasped, backing away from the mirror as it shattered.
Her head began to pound as she pulled at her hair more, trying to destress in the only way she knew how.
The conversation from just moments earlier repeated in her mind, reminding her of everything..
~~~~~~~~~~
”You all think you’re innocent, don’t you?” The voice rings out of the tape.
The NSF, along with others, all sat around in a table, listening closely. Karyme felt her anxiety rise, her only sense of grounding being Kaidens hand holding her own tightly.
“Isn’t that how it always goes, the heroes can do no wrong, right? Well believe it or not, I know most of you have done things that could never help paint you as the saints you appear to be.”
The tape is paused suddenly. Karyme looks around, seeing everyone’s reactions to the statement. Everyone knew what this was. Every person in the room had done something that was never spoken about, and it was all about to be exposed.
“We shouldn’t-“ Leony starts, but Krystal stops her.
“We have to listen.” Krystal states to everyone. “No matter what it says, we need to go through it.”
Elliot slumps back. “And let this fucker expose our secrets to everyone in the room, you can’t be serious.”
Krystal sighs. “Yes, I’m serious, this tape could help us uncover who S.A is, and how to stop him.”
“What if there’s nothing?” Lycus replies. “We’re just gonna risk our personal lives for nothing?”
“We won’t know if there’s any information unless we go through it.” Krystal replies, looking around the room. “Is anyone on board here?”
There’s a tense silence. Krystal’s eyes wander over to Karyme and Kaiden.
“Not even you guys?” She asks.
Karyme looks away, and Kaiden sighs. “It sounds like he’s trying to make us turn on each other..” He says.
“What about Ashton’s case?” Krystal inquires. “Don’t you want answers-“
Karyme squeezes Kaiden hand as the mention of their son, and Kaiden shoots a bit of a glare at Krystal.
“Krystal, not the time.” He says sternly.
Krystal frowns, turning away from them. “Really, no one-“
“I’m with you.” A voice says from the corner of the room.
Everyone seems to turn at once as Elio steps forward.
“Krystal is right, we need to through the tape, even if nothing comes from it.” He says.
Karyme looks up, seemingly surprised. Elio notices her look, and takes a seat next to Krystal.
“I know we all have secrets, things that we don’t want exposed, but in the end, we’re a team, and we won’t be broken up over this.” He states.
Krystal nods along to his words, and Karyme goes back to looking at the floor.
“We need to remain strong, and together.” Elio continues. “No matter what information this.. person knows, true or not, we’ll show him that we can stick together.” He finishes, looking over at Krystal. “Play the tape.”
Karyme leans a bit against Kaiden, who in response wraps an arm around her. Thoughts were racing in her head, the most prominent one being, ‘They’re gonna find out..’
Krystal hits the play button, and the words start up again.
“If you’re all still here, I applaud you, but I’m sure you won’t be after this.” The voice says smugly. “Now, let’s start off easy..”
“Krystal, always the leader, yet quick to turn on people. Turning on everyone, until it came with consequences.. Tell me, how does it feel to do that to a friend, being the reason for permanent damage to someone so close to you..?”
Karyme can feel the tension coming from Krystal as they share a brief glance at one another.
"You knew that sending her away.. Banishing her would kill her, but that didn't stop you, did it?"
Krystal seemed to succumb to her own shame, her usually tight frame disappearing for a spilt second before the tape spoke again.
"Now, to the man himself, Kaiden, oh you've done some pretty fucked up shit, huh? You always pledge your distaste towards lies, but you have your own."
Karyme looks at Kaiden through the corner of her eye as he squeezes her hand even tighter than before.
"Did you ever tell anyone about the book, about what you read that solidified what your dear wife told you? No, I suppose you didn't, in fact, you were very well aware of the possibility of possession, and instead of taking the help, you went the other route."
Karyme feels the hairs on the back of her neck stand up. Even with all these people around, she can't mask her sheer horror at the realization. Kaiden only gives her a shameful look in response.
The tape keeps speaking, but Karyme can't hear it anymore. All she can think about is what Kaiden did- no, what he didn't do.
This whole time, this whole damn time, she was lied to. Every decision she made, up until that dreaded day, it all could've been prevented.
Suddenly, rage fills her. Boiling, hot rage building up under her skin. Her hands begin to warm up, getting so hot that it causes pain.
Karyme pulls her own handout of Kaiden's grasp, holding it close to her chest. She shuts her eyes tightly, not even wanting to see Kaiden's face.
She remains frozen in this position, fearing everything she had ever done had doomed her. Every reckless decision now could affect her, and it was also because of-
Everything stops, and above it all, the voice speaks.
"Now to the star of the show, Miss Sain-Santos herself!"
Karyme snaps her head up, not expecting to hear her- the last name that once was hers.
She buried her secrets deep, deep enough into small crevasses that she herself could never find, there was no way..
"Sain-Santos' have always been known to be liars, so why would you expect any less from Karyme? Even when she worked so incredibly hard, she wasn't able to stray from the path that all her ancestors before her walked."
Karyme feels her hand start to shake, once again heating up..
"I'm sure it's no surprise that she lies her way through anything, but I'm sure you never suspected her story of what happened on August 1st, 2022."
Karyme's breath gets caught in her throat, and she clenches her fist.
"She must've never told anyone how there was no accident on that day, but rather a plan made by yours truly."
Karyme feels the burning fishing through her now, just about to pop..
"I also highly doubt she ever told anyone about the parasite she took on, knowing damn well of it's lethal-"
The tape player bursts into flames quickly, cutting off the tape. Everyone backs off, caught off guard as it suddenly dies down.
Karyme breathes heavily, deactivating her ability before she manages to light the entire room ablaze. She can feel the looks of everyone on her, even Kaiden's..
Karyme can't take it.
She stands up abruptly, and leaves the room as fast as she possibly can, not daring to even take a short glance back.
~~~~~~~~~~
Karyme leans against the wall, her breath heavy again from remembering. She has no idea what to do, what to say, how the hell to explain the truth-
Her thoughts are cut off by a knock on the door.
"Karyme, open up." Kaiden's voice says from outside.
Karyme glares dangers at the door, not budging from her spot against the wall.
"We need to talk, now." Kaiden adds after a moment.
Something about his tone of voice triggers Karyme enough for her to oblige.
She slowly opens the door, watching Kaiden brush past her.
Karyme closes the door, and finally turns towards Kaiden.
"I-" She begins.
"No, just- stop." He says.
Karyme frowns, looking away from him.
He sighs before speaking. "You need to explain everything, now."
Karyme glares at the floor. "There's noth8ng to explain-"
"Nothing?" He replies, raising his voice. "After everything that tape said, you have nothing to say?"
Karyme looks up. "No, I don't have to say anything-"
"No, that's where you're wrong." He hisses. "We swore to each other, no lies between us, compete honesty, or do you not remember our vows?"
Karyme balls up her fists. "I did what I had to do to protect you, to protect our family."
"How, by not telling any of us about the fucking parasite?!" He says, now yelling. "Do you have any idea what that shit will do to you?!"
"Of course I do!" Karyme shouts back. "That's why I took it on!"
"For the love of Selyna, Karyme, that will kill you, does that not matter to you?!"
"It didn't then, because I had nothing to lose!" Karyme shouts, feeling the tears coming on.
Kaiden stops, just.. looking at her. She can't even read his expression at the moment, but reguardless, she keeps talking.
"I had lost my parents the day I was born, the man I considered a father hardly years later, then my friends, and then fucking you!" Karyme cries. "Don't act all innocent, that tape exposed you too! You knew about the possession, the dangers of it, and you still chose not to take me seriously!"
Karyme backs up until she hits the wall. She struggles to steady herself as tears fall down her cheeks.
"Look at me! You think this is what I wanted for myself?! Do you think I wanted to suffer like this, unable to tell you?! I didn't tell you because it's my job to protect us, and I'll be damned before I fail to do it!"
Karyme stops, finally feeling the exhaustion hit her. She slides down against the wall, a mess of tears. She had never, ever, been so overwhelmed with emotion to this point. She couldn't process anything anymore. Everything had fallen apart so quickly, and just like always, she was the one left to pick it all up again.
She cries into her hands until arms wrap around her. Even if she has the urge to fight it, she was completely exhausted from it all, so she just sunk into the embrace, still crying.
She could feel his hands treading through her hair, soothing her. In a hushed whisper, the words, "I'm so sorry" are repeated like clockwork.
She stayed in that embrace for what felt like hours, but in reality it couldn't have been more than 5 minutes.
And even with the warmth and genuine apologies, something inside her was broken. Not her heart, something else..
And Karyme, despite trying to not think about it, could tell that it wouldn't- no, it couldn't be fixed.
Day 2 - Sweat
⚠TW⚠
- Swearing
- Slight PSTD
- Mentions of SA
- Slightly Suggestive (NO NSFW)
Enjoy!
~~~~~~~~~~
Karyme turned onto her back, sighing. Even if it was 1 am, sleep just wasn’t coming to her. She was an insomniac, sure, but after she did today she was sure it would’ve tuckered her out.
And yet, she was wide awake.
She stared at the ceiling of her bedroom with a blank expression, somewhat annoyed at her situation.
She closed her eyes for what felt like the millionth time, trying once again to fall asleep, only to be startled by a sound.
She sat up in her bed, eyes darting around the room. She waited in the darkness, until she heard the sound again.
It was a quick thud, not loud, but noticeable. It didn’t sound dangerous.. but that didn’t ease Karyme’s nerves.
Her gaze went to her window. She sat completely still, waiting, and then she saw it.
A small rock hit against her window, making that same sound. The rock was surrounded by a teal-ish aura that only disappeared once the rock hit the window.
Karyme let out a breath, eyebrows furrowed as she got out of bed. She didn’t bother to put too much effort into her outfit as she quickly changed, throwing on some random sweats and her favorite jacket before approaching the window.
It was dark out, too dark to make out anything visible in her backyard.
She huffed in annoyance as she opened the window quietly. She swung her legs out, and sighed. Her least favorite part of sneaking out was having to jump from her window, but she had no other choice.
Karyme closes her eyes, and jumps.
The distance from her window to the grass isn’t much, but yet, it always caught her off guard.
Karyme lands on her feet, luckily, and sighs as she looks around.
”Are you really going to hide from me?” She asks to the darkness.
She crosses her arms as a shuffle is heard, and a slight laugh is heard.
“Of course not.” A figure replies, leaving the darkness.
He only stops as a rock is thrown at him. He puts a hand up, and stops the rock mid air, throwing it over his shoulder as he resumes walking forward.
”Nice throw.” He comments as he stops in front of Karyme.
Karyme crosses her arms. "You're an asshole, Kaiden."
"Am I now?" Kaiden hums. "It's not like I woke you up."
Karyme rolls her eyes. "Why are you here?"
"I came to see if you were awake," Kaiden says. “I wanted to go somewhere with you.”
Karyme sighs. “At 1 am?”
“There’s less people there at this time,” Kaiden shrugs. “I thought you would like it better that way.”
Karyme pinches her nose bridge. “What place..?”
“It’s a surprise,” Kaiden says. “Just trust me.”
Karyme gives him a look, and sighs. “Fine.”
Kaiden smiles, extending his hand towards Karyme. “It’ll be fun, I promise.”
Karyme takes his hand, feeling her heart flutter. Even if it was late, she couldn’t deny that a night out with her boyfriend sounded perfect. And as he led her to his car, she pondered over what this surprise would contain.
~~~~~~~~~~
Sitting in the car, Karyme watched the city lights and buildings disappear as they ventured into the rural area of Eris. The only thing she saw was an endless road, and the vacant land on either side of them. The radio was playing quietly, serving as background noise.
“This seems like something out of a horror movie..” Karyme mumbles absentmindedly.
Kaiden taps his finger on the steering wheel. “How so?”
“You’re luring me away to the middle of nowhere, like you’re gon’ kill me or somethin’..” Karyme says.
The tapping stops, and Kaiden sighs.
“You really think I’d kill you.?” He asks hesitantly.
“No,” Karyme says. “You can’t even kill a spider.”
“Neither can you,” Kaiden responds. “Remember last week’s incident?”
Karyme sinks into the seat, crossing her arms. “Low blow man..”
Kaiden snorts. “I had never seen you so scared, you were clinging onto me, terrified-“
“You were scared too, asshole..” Karyme retaliates. “And you also screamed.”
“Touché.” Kaiden says.
The car falls back into silence, not an awkward one, but a comfortable one.
“..so.. where are we going.?” Karyme asks after a bit.
“I told you, it’s a surprise.” Kaiden replies.
“Just tell me-” Karyme whines before Kaiden interrupts her.
“Or you could read the sign.” He says, pointing for Karyme to spot the sign.
The sign was a bit rusted, but the words “GEMMA CREEK” stood out enough to be readable.
Karyme raises her eyebrows a bit. “I’ve never heard of this place..”
“Maybe because no one comes here,” Kaiden says. “At least, no adults do.”
“So then why are we here?” Karyme asks.
Kaiden frowns playfully. “Oh, so we’re adults now?” He laughs a bit. “Lighten up, you’re 19, not 90.”
Karyme slumps back dramatically. “Feels like I’ve lived multiple lives..”
Kaiden hums in amusement. “Alright you old soul,” He says as he parks the car. “Get the blankets from the back seat.”
Karyme reaches behind, taking ahold of the. Blankets as Kaiden steps out of the car, scanning the area.
“What are you doing now?” She asks.
“Just making sure no one else is around.” He replies.
Karyme leans on the car, rolling her eyes. “I doubt anyone in their right mind would be in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night.”
Kaiden snorts. “Yeah yeah.” He pushes a few trees out of the way, revealing a pathway. “Come on, stay close.”
Karyme hesitantly follows him, her eyes wandering. Surprisingly, she felt pretty safe despite the tense atmosphere. She found the sounds of nature comforting, and she found her usually uptight demeanor fade away as they walked on..
~~~~~~~~~~
The night goes on, and Kaiden and Karyme are laying on a blanket next to the creek. The sounds of crickets and a light breeze set a calm atmosphere.
The surprise, as Kaiden finally explained, was a meteor shower, something Karyme had expressed interest in seeing. Despite her seemingly calm expression, she was ecstatic.
For now, they had time to kill before it started.
Neither of them spoke for a while. There was hardly anything to say, but just being together was enough for them both.
it was a bit cold, and it was starting to set into Karyme’s bones. She pulled her jacket tightly around herself, trying to gain a bit of warmth.
“You cold?” Kaiden asks.
Karyme just shakes her head a bit.
Kaiden sits up, opening his arms. “Come here.”
Karyme slowly over closer to him, settling into his embrace. He, by some miracle, is warm. Kaiden buries his head into her neck, and the silence returns.
Karyme feels her heart fluttering. Even after so long, he still caused her these feelings.. these emotions..
She feels his lips trail on the side of her neck slowly, sending a shiver up her spine. Karyme bites her lip, silencing herself, trying ever so hard to remain calm..
In a split second, things change.
Karyme’s now laying on the blanket, Kaiden hovering over her. Her arms are now around his neck, and his are holding onto her hips. Karyme suddenly feels warm, hot even. He has her pinned down as they kiss passionately.
Suddenly, the intensity fades for a second, and a sense of dread fills Karyme.
She tries not to remember that night 5 years ago, but she can’t forget..
Her mind starts to race, panic, anxiety, fear, they all fill her senses..
“-baby?”
Karyme stops, looking at Kaiden. His gaze is filled with concern.
“I-I..” Karyme stutters, feeling as if she just ruined the whole moment.
“Hey, it’s fine, we don’t have to-“ Kaiden starts.
Karyme shuts her eyes, giving all her emotions a good ol’ fuck you, and pulls Kaiden back down by the collar of his shirt, resuming the make-out session.
They go right back at it, even more than before. Karyme shoves away her fears, just repeating to herself that it’s fine, she’s fine, he’s fine..
Kaiden’s hands find their way under Karyme’s shirt, and her own hands find their way into his hair. They’re both overheating at this point, sweating even.
They keep at it until Kaiden’s phone starts to ring, interrupting them.
Kaiden pulls away from Karyme, sighing.
“Guess we’ll have to continue later, the meteor shower is about to start.” He says.
Karyme sits up, breathing deeply. “Yeah..”
They go back to sitting closely as the first meteors begin to fall, and in the beauty of it all, Karyme finds a sense of happiness.
She really is lucky to have a guy like him.

Whumpril 2024
Day 1 - Limp
⚠TW⚠
- Swearing
- Descriptive Body Horror
- Self-Harm
- Blood
Enjoy!
~~~~~~~~~~
Karyme could hear her heart beating intensely in her ears. Her breaths came out shallow, as if a invisible force was pressing against her chest.
She found herself stumbling, her vision blanking out the more she moved. Her ankle seemed to drag across the grass, holding her back.
She grabbed onto the closest thing she could find, and used it to push herself further up ahead. All around her, tall trees stood, preventing the sun from touching her.
She yearned for the warmth to reach her, her and her cold, frozen body. Even when she could see the sun rays, she still shivered.
She wanted to make it out, so the sun could grace upon her.
In reality, Karyme wasn't even sure where she was trying to go, but she felt the urge to go somewhere else, away from where she was now.
She steadied herself against a tree, stopping to rest. She looked around, until her gaze fell to the floor, where the green grass looked oddly dark.
She studied the patch of grass closely, watching as drops of red dripped from somewhere, staining the grass further.
Her eyes traveled further, landing on herself.
She could see her torso, the black fabric of her turtleneck appearing darker near the middle.
Karyme goes to touch it, only for a stinging pain to travel through her body quickly. She hunches forward, grabbing onto the tree to keep herself up right.
Disoriented, she looks at her hand. Her skin tone pales in contrast to the dark red blood that thickly coated her fingers.
Then it hit her.
The blood.. this forest..
She had been here earlier, hiding from.. someone..
She didn't succeed.
She was found.
She remembered being backed up against a tree, looking into the eyes of.. someone..
Then pain. Searing, hot pain.
Then blood.
A hole. A gaping hole that was in her. Blood seeping through it, like a waterfall.
Her limp ankle dragging behind her, broken beyond repair.
Little cuts running up and down her arms, both of them, some not deep enough to bleed, others deep gashes, causing pain.
A pounding in her head, blood escaping from somewhere, blinding her.
Karyme remembered.
“..Karyme..?”
A voice rang out.
A familiar voice.
She let go of the tree.
And she collapsed.
~~~~~~~~~
Kaiden was panicking, plain and simple.
I mean, who wouldn’t be panicking in this kind of situation? Leony had freaked out, claiming that Karyme was in danger, and couldn’t give more than the name to the supposed place she was in.
La Immort. The biggest, and most dangerous forest in Eris.
Why would Karyme be there, well, Kaiden had no idea. He had no idea about anything that was happening. He could hardly remember the past few weeks, not to mention what caused Karyme to leave without a word.
Nonetheless, Leony’s persistence was enough for him to go searching for answers.
That’s where he was now, searching in La Immort.
Every sound made him jump, hoping to see Karyme, only to be met with nothing. It didn’t help that it was windy either. The cold air sunk into his bones, making an already unpleasant situation even more unpleasant.
He wasn’t even sure he should be here. Even when his heart pushed him forward, his mind screamed at him to turn around.
Kaiden was a mess, completely conflicted.
Until he heard it.
A sound clear as day, unlike everything else he heard in these woods.
A scream.
It was loud enough to make every hair on his body stand up rigidly. Alarms went off in his head, but yet, he didn’t move.
He should run, run and escape whatever the hell caused that kind of a scream from someone.
But something was stopping him.
Someone.
No, he had never heard Karyme scream.. or do anything for that matter.
But what if it was her? He couldn’t just leave her..
It was risky to keep going, but he had to.
So with a shaky breath, he trudges on.
His eyes are tightly shut, as if that will keep him safe.
He stops once again at the sound of something else.
It’s heavy.. wheezy even, like a whistle..
He takes a step forward.
He hears something else take a step.
It goes that way for a bit, step by step, each one approaching each other unknowingly. Invisible strings seems to tug at them, pulling them ever so close..
Finally, Kaiden takes the last step.
A scent is carried through the wind, a metallic one..
The smell is overwhelming, overpowering even..
His eyes scan the area.
Then he sees it.
Clear as day.
He wishes he couldn't see.
There's so much.. blood. Just, everywhere.. it.. this can't be happening, no, this has to be fake..
A pair, no, a single, red eyes looks back at him. There's nothing behind her gaze. Not pain, not.. anger, just, nothing.. numbness..
His voice is stolen away from him.
He can't say anything, fuck, why can't he speak!
Say something..
Say something!
His mouth opens slightly, a small breath of air coming out.
"..Karyme..?"
She blinks.
Then she falls.
It happens in a spilt second, Kaiden can't even react, but his body can. He's at her side in seconds, just as fast as she fell.
He grabs her, trying to help, his ears ringing.
She gasps, her hands pushing at his chest.
Even with a huge wound going across her torso, she has enough strength to try and push him away. She cries as she fights against him. Kaiden just grabs onto her wrists, holding her still as she thrashes and cries.
Kaiden doesn't know what to do, fuck, he doesn't know what to do! Think, for the love of Selyna please think..
911. An ambulance, he needs an ambulance.
He scrambles with his phone, somehow managing to dial the number despite the blood coating his fingers.
He talks to someone, a lady. He can't make out what she's saying, but he responds.
At some point, she tells him to try and stop the bleeding.
Kaiden is shaking, yet composes himself enough to coordinate his movements.
He has a jacket, a old one, he can use it, it won't matter, it's not important.
Kaiden holds the jacket up, and closes his eyes, mumbling a quick prayer before pushing it down onto the wound.
Karyme reacts, a short cry escaping her throat as she clutches onto Kaiden's shirt, letting the blood smudge onto it.
Kaiden's ears finally stop ringing, and he hears himself speaking quickly. He can feels tears in his eyes. They're blurring his vision, he blinks them away, they come back.
"-okay, your okay, dear Selyna please be okay.." He says quickly, feeling out of breath despite his limited movement.
Karyme lets out a choked sob, gripping onto him even harder, scrunching up his shirt in her grip.
The jacket made a sacrifice, but the bleeding won't stop. He can't make it stop, why don't it stop.
Kaiden keeps applying pressure, letting out a breath he didn't even know he was holding in. He takes her frail body into his lap, while still talking.
"Stay with me, stay with me, you gotta stay, okay, no leaving, you need to stay here, with me, yeah-?" He stammers, his breaths short and rigid.
Karyme's still conscious, by some miracle. Her breaths are just as short as his own, maybe even shorter. They end with a bit of a wheeze.
Kaiden's eyes wander over her, spotting so many different injuries, even her ankle which seems to be fractured, maybe even broken.
Kaiden just keeps listing the same things in his mind.
"Broken ankle, punctured lung, head injury, impaled.. broken ankle, punctured lung, head injury, impaled.."
He can't fathom how she's still breathing, nor how she got this way in the first place.
All he knows is that no average person did.. this.
It was something else.
Something bigger..
..someone more powerful..
Kaiden snaps out of his thoughts as he feels Karyme's grip loosen a bit.
He looks back down at her.
She's gone dangerously pale. Her eyes seem darker than they were just moments before..
"Hey, no, Karyme, stay here, stay with me, don't go anywhere, you need to be strong, help is almost here-" He begins to stammer again as the faint sound of sirens approach.
He only stops when Karyme's hand reaches up, slightly cupping his face. Her lips part slightly, a bit of air escaping through them.
"..baby..?" He mumbles, eyes widening a bit.
Her hand stops.
And it falls.
Kaiden grabs her hand in his, clutching it as to keep her here with him.
"..shit..! No no no no no.. Hey, stay with me, please just stay-!" He begs, tears finally falling.
Her other hand, still gripping his shirt, loosens before falling as well.
"Fuck, Karyme-!" Kaiden cries. "Don't do this to me-!"
Her eyes remain open, blinking slightly.
Then the curtain falls, and they close.
"Karyme, Karyme, baby, please wake up-! I-I need you, please don't die, oh Selyna don't let her die-!" Kaiden begs helplessly to no avail.
Even as the sirens finally are near, and the sound of many footsteps and voices are heard, something isn't around.
The beating of a heart, the sound of breathing.
Some of it is missing.
And it may never be found.
